It's not a story based film, based on situations.big mess of screen Play, don't think what happened & will happen, just go throw the screen Play. Different angle making.Bgm worked as well as cinematography. No justice for characters until end except"devika' character. One time watchable....

Director Duniya Soori's films have never failed to surprise us because of the realistic visualization & dark natured story built into them. His last film Tagaru which was a blockbuster hit, introduced us to a deadly character named Daali portrayed by Dhananjaya. However that can be said to be just a trailer of Dhananjaya's potential. Popcorn Monkey Tiger is a full fledged film where you get to see his ultimate acting prowess! The intensity and rawness is just mind boggling!
There is no straightforward story in this film. The film unfolds in a convoluted manner showing the life of a tough gangster named Tiger Seena. His rabid way of living, the complicated relationships along with his travails in life are shown in a raw and violent manner.
The film presents the traits of the low side of life very realistically, paired with some really gut wrenching scenes. The poverty stricken slums, the turf wars evident in the underbelly of crime world, the lust for sex, prostitution etc, forms the raw appeal of this film and is what stands-out throughout the entire length of the film.
The disjointed narrative puzzles you and only an intelligent film audience can understand this by watching it for the first time. The normal film audience would need a second watch to understand it completely. This proves to be both the positive & negative aspect of this film and entirely depends on the viewer on how he perceives it.
The cinematography by Shekar S is haunting, with several distinctive shots captured incredibly through the camera lens! The intoxicating and psychedelic music by Charan Raj is another factor which makes this movie experience so dope! Popcorn Devi, Mooga, Haavrani, Galeeju, Sugar, Kothmari, Razor - These bizzare names of all the characters remain etched in your minds after watching this film.
Each and every actor has performed spectacularly in the film. Dhananjaya proves once again that he is one of the most brilliant actors in Sandalwood. The intense looks, dialogues and way in which he carries out himself is truly amazing! Amrutha Iyengar steals your heart, Niveditha gives out a stunning performance and Sapthami Gowda's expletive-laden acting is absolutely delightful! There are many other actors who have acted really well.
To sum it up, this film is one of the finest blood violence films to come out in Sandalwood in the recent times & the blood soaked theme makes it truly mind blowing! This one is definitely not for the chicken-hearted!

Duniya Suri is always the King of Montages. When you have such capability to write great Montages, why write traditional screenplay and struggle stitching scenes. That's what Suri-Suri-Amri does with you. Great performances by ensemble. Charan Raj's Score filled with vocals of Sanjith Hegde is compelling. Wonderful camerawork and great pacing are the pluses. Waiting for Kage Bangara.

Moral of the movie:CRIME as a career option ia short lived, kallana hendthi munde so dont marry rowdies, although it thrills initially, people enter this profession because they cannot pass IAS and IPS, and are looking at easy ways of settling

After a lucky outing with Tagaru, Soori comes back with another dull plot less story. As Tagaru , it's another version of revenge drama - rowdy kills rowdy! Soori knows well that nobody would like watching a rowdy movie that way. So after shooting the movie, he just rehashes the scenes so that the movie can be called 'reverse chronological', 'parallel narrative'. This way it's convenient! If anyone says, I didn't like the movie, Soori fan minions can say - you didn't understand. Tagaru was saved by SRK's impeccable acting and the smash hit title track! God only save PMT! Not to forget the over done naming of people - galeeju, mooga etc!
Dhananjay - in case you read this review - your acting calibre is in allama, not doing shady shi# roles like this.
Soori - your calibre is Jackie, junglee, duniyaa! Strong story line and will scripted. Don't get carried away!

I watched this movie after seeing it in several people's lists of the best Kannada films of 2020. Thankfully, I have seen some other films from that list and from previous years, so I know that the industry can make good films. If I had seen this first, I probably wouldn't have seen another Kannada movie in my life.
I am all for innovative editing and playing with the screenplay. However, the movie should make sense in the final cut. PMT is just a bunch of scenes put together, without any thought given to how a story moves. Unfortunately, the messed up plot treatment undermines the talents of what look like pretty decent actors. A patchwork of scenes does not make a movie.
The most surprising thing is that the editor actually won at least one award for his work on this film. This is probably the worst editing I have seen in ages. Even B-grade Indian films have better editing these days.
Then there's the continuous inane background music that may have worked if the story made sense, but here, it just adds to the throbbing headache induced by the film.
I was going to give up in the first half an hour. But I am familiar with people whose only response to criticism is that the person criticizing didn't "get" it. So, I persisted for the nearly two-hour run time. No, it does not get better, though towards the end, you can at least make sense of the insane (not in a good sense) montage at the beginning of the film.
This is not a stylish film. It's just plain stupid. AVOID IT ANY COST.

I watched the movie on Zee5 on TV and I felt satisfied after the end and I want to watch it again because everything in this movie was superb and well written. Performance of all characters are super but Dolly Dhananjay and Smita are top so just watch this movie and feel it's like beyond the Hollywood style. Charan Raj music and Sukka Suri sir direction are excellent. Just go and watch it.

I'm writing this review after watching this movie about three times. To people who think this is just a collection of incidents and story doesn't make sense... I recommend you to watch it again before you write a review. Because once you connect all dots... you'll instantly fall in love with this masterpiece !
Yes, the storyline and narration is messed up.... I feel that's what kept me hooked.

Acting was hit and miss.... some have done well and others didnt really feel like they were professional actors and have messed up real time.
To conclude... this is a raw movie which has portrayed the gangster field AS IT IS.
It's more of a reality than a fairytale.

Popcorn monkey tiger as name doesnt attract i watched the movie in tv it was new with the non linear structure of the film its complex with charecters with local i mean damn local names it shows the worst form of living beings in the world atleast if it could make sense it would have been better not the best of the work, i wonder why the director is attracted to the low life? Just a question to one who does speak philosophy through dialogues,, director is very repetitive with the same drunkard charecter,the cinematography is very simple and natural it works only in few scenes.
