Incredible movie near perfect
shakedatjunk27 June 2021
The action and emotion is some of the best I've ever seen and felt. I was in tears at many points in this movie just from how amazing it was all executed. Characters and their moments were all spectacular. The ideas of being a hero were corny yet tear inducing. You can tell the people who worked on this movie put their soul into it.

Only things keeping it from a 10/10 is the lack of transition between this movie and the show(we never see them get to the island or arrive back from the island), the story/writing wasn't anything out of the ordinary, and the slight asspull but it didn't even matter because it led to one of the most lit moments in the history of animation and superhero movies.

Even if you haven't seen the show watch this movie! Especially if you're an anime/manga/comic/superhero fan.

9.2/10.

Roger Moore is a bad critic lol.
t_ngu5 March 2020
Roger Moore argues that unless your already invested in anime franchises that you won't enjoy the movie. You could literally make that same argument about any franchise movie series like marvel movies or Star Wars or Harry Potter. That's a dumb a opinion. What he was really trying to say is, "I hate anime movies, because it's not mainstream." I translated your review for you Roger Moore 😁 lol.

Exactly what MHA is...

This movie is beyond plus ultra. From the amazing fight scenes to the stunning visuals, it's literally a thrill ride. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this film. It's definitely a movie that will leave fans or normal movie going people speechless. I enjoyed seeing every Class 1A hero had time to shine. All in all an amazing storyline with tons of memorable scenes from start to finish. Highly recommend 10/10

The greatest anime movie of all time
shellbee-1024427 February 2020
From the second the movie starts to the very end, this movie is amazing! The action, animation, dialogue, music, and emotions are done so well that I was just in awe the whole film. There are so many special moments, and even some funny ones too! I didn't know how they could top the first movie, but this one takes the cake. I cannot recommend this movie enough, and will be seeing it a second time! #plusultra

Great climax but everything else is forgettable
MovieWarfare4 June 2022
One of my issue with the first My Hero Academia movie was the animation quality not being any better than the show. Well the 3rd act of this movie has an insanely good animation with one of the best fights seen in the series. It also explores a bit more of the relationship between Midoriya and Bakugo.

It's a shame that the ending ends up being dumb because they had to conform to the sake of canon. Additionally, the relationship between Midoriya and the new movie supporting character, Katsuma, is not interesting whatsoever. The first half of this movie is also quite slow and boring.

Just watch it for the action and not the plot.

A fun time for fans of MHA
gavinvouriot14 March 2020
Just finished seeing this and theaters and it was pretty good.

For starters, this is way better than any of the Naruto and some of the Pokemon movies all thanks to one aspect: the god tier animation. Most anime movies based on a long-running series always have good fight animation (minus some of the Pokemon movies) but I've never seen fights quite like this in one of these movies before. Considering this movie is 80% action the animation quality never really lets up. The finale especially was amazing to watch.

The villains were really cool as well and every character from Class-A gets their chance to shine, which was something I wasn't really expecting. Everyone gets their badass moment, and it was awesome to see some of the more underappreciated characters like Sero and Aoyama do some cool stuff.

The story however is pretty uninspired and is mostly just there to have some cool fights. It's almost exactly like some of the previous arcs in the show. The two kid characters are very cliched for this kind of movie and are almost carbon copies of other kid characters from this show.

The villain is also a carbon copy of All for One but that didn't really bother me because I thought he was cooler. Johnny Yong Bosch voices him in the dub and I think that made me enjoy his presence a lot more than it should have. He's one of the few anime dub actors that really makes edgy work and it made for some genuinely badass villain moments.

Considering how simple this movie is, I'm actually surprised how much I enjoyed it. The action is fantastic but everything else is pretty standard shounen movie affair. It felt like watching an episode of My Hero Academia in the theater. I think with a bolder story and a more unique location this could have felt like a real event. Especially if the story was actually canon as well.

Could have used more smaller comedic interactions with the characters. I really think that would have made the movie a little better in my opinion.

Overall, a good movie that's worth seeing if you're a fan of MHA. It doesn't reach the heights that it could have but it's better than most of the other shounen anime tie in films that have come before. Worth seeing in theaters if you have the chance.

Perfect Balance
Migaish21 March 2020
First off; yes this does have spoilers from the manga, but they're so little or have 0 context, so if you're not with a manga reader you won't even notice It's a great movie with all our best boys/girls getting screentime, it's fun, wholesome and has a good villian to match The end fight was a little too over the top and didn't make much sense but it was still really awesome

A funny film!
jp_9113 December 2020
In the 2010's were a big success the superheros films, the anime also brought superheros films as "My Hero Academia: Two Heroes" (2018) and the sequel "My Hero Academia - Boku no hîrô akademia THE MOVIE - Heroes: Rising - Hîrôzu: Raijingu" (2019), this last one is not a masterpiece but it's a good movie, it could have been better. A overrated high IMDb punctuation, a funny film, no more! The animation is great, but the script is simple.

Good, not as the series. Can skip.
sisubalan9 August 2022
Better than previous movie for sure. This is average. Weak plot, fight scenes were mediocre, nothing outstanding but a great time killer. Underwhelming villains but love the sound scores this time. Non-canon (spin- off, not continuation from original) Recommended.

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising overcomes its simple plot by making full use of its runtime. The newly introduced villains can feel a little thin, but constant, gripping action allows previously underutilized secondary characters to shine. Fans of the anime with find the film a worthy installment.

Was it really necessary to set this in Season 5?
aptcatex28 February 2020
This movie is almost completely flawless. Perfect animation, characters, plot, references to source material music etc. You don't need me to tell you why this movie is fantastic. As a manga reader and die hard fan, I want to give some more light on my criticisms out of love for this series.

The singular flaw with this movie when it is set with the series. This movie takes places around the My Villain Academia arc, 2 arcs and an entire season after where we are currently. This means that a lot of plot points from these are "subtlety" implied, including but not limited to revealing 4 separate major plot twists from the upcoming arcs with no context or depth to them bar some inconsistent plot armour. Hawks is the biggest waste of potential here by being the most important character in the upcoming arcs.

Dificult to know what is the better part of this movie.
beltraolaus9 July 2020
Compared to the last movie ( Two Heroes ) this one was made with more action, more emotion, and with the most epic final battle of the series so far .

PLUS ULTRA
cameronjames-8695927 February 2020
I am a huge my hero academia fan so I was really excited to see this movie on the big screen and I have to say I wasn't disappointed one bit. Hero's rising is a great movie that takes you on a journey from start to finish and it doesn't let you go. There is so much amazing things in this movie. To start off the animation is just gorgeous to look at and there is some truly stunning scenes in this movie. The action in this movie is just amazing it has a lot more action then the first movie two hero's but in general the action in this movie is better then two hero's action. The fight scenes in this movie are just amazing and most of them just blew me away with how exciting they are. The voice cast is amazing in this movie if you have seen the show you will know how great this cast is. The story is really well written. The music in this movie is just fantastic from the amazing might+u song to the score that plays throughout the movie that brings some of the songs from the show into it but also has its only original music to. The villains in this movie are amazing and i want to know more about them. Overall, I loved my hero academia hero's rising, this is the movie I wish the first movie was in so many ways. I can't wait to see this movie again and own it.

MY HERO ACADEMIA: HEROES: RISING (2019) - 16/03/2020
mitch-bulfin30 March 2020
What a fun and great experience. This film will please all audiences from fans of the show to audiences new to this franchise. Most characters have their chance to shine in many different well directed and animated set pieces. It really utilises it's fun nature, with plenty of action as long as you don't think about it too much. Considering this is a non-cannon side story, of course there are plot holes and issues with the stakes but they are minimal. Glad I saw it in theatres. Pleasantly surprised on the quality.

My hero academia
mustafasalar-135615 August 2020
First when i saw my hero academia i thought it was not a good anime. So after a while there were 'shippers'. They all shipped deku with todoroki etc. So i just ignored the community. So i started bnha like a month ago and then i just regret it what i just said in my mind. My hero academia is legendary. The movie was great too.

Kóhei Horikoshi you really made a good anime. Thank you!

Better than the first
goodguuy97 July 2021
This movies plot was way more interesting than what we got in the latter half of season 4 and first half of season 5, even if it doesn't further the series in any way. Was deeply invested right to the end, but it lost me at that point. As a whole, the movie is strong as, unlike the last film, you don't need to completely switch off your brain to enjoy the film, but it wouldn't be a my hero movie if it didn't harshly contradict the show's rules to create a cool epic ending with super high stakes that still somehow has to be inconsequential to the ongoing series.

Anyway, solid movie. Give it a go.

Terrible. High Score comes from blinded people.
simianmyth11 June 2022
Gosh. I don't know where to begin. We all know most of the anime movies are mostly non-cannon but follow some rules either way. This is not the case. Movie has a lot of plot holes. Some powers don't even make sense in the time frame this movie is set. The academy sending wannabe heroes without a teacher? And don't get started with the last battle. Doesn't even make sense. Sure looks all pretty and nice and the studio wanted to give a flashy sequence, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING follows what we've been seeing until now. It's more like the kind of movie a studio launches to cash in some by pulling fanbase strings and get away with it by erasing everything that has been built.
