Why was it powered up?

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was full of energy from the get-go, starting with "the incident" and then showing a prequel of what led up to the incident. With interviews of each major member of Gil's NYPD team, we get more insight into Bright's personality and his apparent driving force. Great surprise ending!

Spoiler: I had an issue with the ending, however. Why was the electroshock machine plugged in on the desk between the doctor and Bright, and within easy reach of Bright? This was a major goof by the NYPD, if not an episode production goof. Without this makeshift weapon readily available to Bright, there would have been a shootout and who knows who would have been killed.

A real shocker, in more ways than one
philosophyguru1 February 2020
This was one of the best individual episodes of a show on network television I have seen in years. This show and this episode was twisted in so many ways, but in a way that tells a intriguing story.

Without giving too much away, saying this episode was a shocker is a twist on one of the themes of this episode, as well as referring to the shocking twists at the end of the episode.

So much on television are the same old stories recycled. Criminal Minds for example is a serial killer of the week where good guys catch bad guys. So far every episode of Prodigal Son offers a new twist beyond the typical themes.

Standout

As individual episodes go, this was the best of them all. At it's core it's straight forward and simple, but the way the story unfolded made it the most unique of the series so far, and it was the first in which the plot twist was truly surprising. Kudos to the writers and director.

This episode had a really good twist that I didn't see coming until the reveal. I loved the build-up and how it started at the end.

Internal Affairs
Prismark1013 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A standalone episode that sees Malcolm being evaluated by police psychiatrist Dr Simon Coppenrath who has arrived from internal affairs.

Dr Simon needs to determined if Malcolm is well enough to continue serving as an advisor to the NYPD. Especially after his recent ordeal with the Junkyard Killer.

The episode messes around with the timelines. Malcolm has infiltrated a cult like organisation run by Quentin Vosler after a dead body is found. Vosler uses electric shock treatment to cure people's traumas.

Malcolm also enters a world of cult deprogrammers especially when someone who was aiding him disappears.

It was obvious that there was a bait and switch going on. For some reason almost everyone in the department has turned on Malcolm.

Dr Simon might have made a slip when he said he did not know much about cults.
