With the news that CBS is currently in “accelerated development” on a new daytime soap opera geared towards the African American audience, daytime soap icon Victoria Rowell, who portrayed Drucilla Barber Winters on “The Young and the Restless” off and on from 1990-2007, is happy to see change happening both on-screen and behind the scenes when it comes to the future of daytime dramas.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Rowell said, “Change is Possible! Believe it!” while linking to a news story on “The Gates,” a new soap being spearheaded by the first and only Black woman ever to hold the position of head writer/co-head writer of a daytime drama series, Michele Val Jean, and follows a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community.

Well, this sounds like a plot ripped right out of One Tree Hill.
It's just a coincidence that it includes two of the hit teen drama's stars.
The O.C. actress Erin Foster is speaking out about her time dating Chad Michael Murray, dropping quite a big bombshell in the process.
The 41-year-old chatted with her sister, Sara Foster, about their love lives during their most recent episode of The World's First Podcast on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
"I was also featured in this DeuxMoi thing with Chad Michael Murray. In it, it said, 'And he apparently cheated on her with Sophia Bush,'" Erin said on the podcast.
"By the way though, DeuxMoi's not — they don't lie. I mean, and that is what happened," Sara interjected.
"I mean, yeah," Erin responded, expounding as follows:
"He definitely did cheat on me with her in, like, a pretty egregious way while we were living together.

Sophia Bush revealed on a new episode of Penn Badgley’s “Podcrushed” podcast (via IndieWire) that an aggressive fan once berated her and called her a “TV prostitute” when she confronted him for filming her without consent. Bush has been acting for over two decades and is best known for roles in “One Tree Hill” and “Chicago P.D.”
“I had a beer and there was a guy at the table next to me and all my friends, who walked right up to me and stuck his camera right in my face to take a picture, almost hit me right in the face, with his phone,” Bush said. “He keeps going and he’s getting rowdy and I can hear him swearing.”
Bush continued, “I say, ‘Hi, I’m a person. I’d like to shake your hand. My name is Sophia. You’re making me really uncomfortable, man. I’ve asked you to stop.

Exclusive: Skye P. Marshall has been tapped as a lead opposite Kathy Bates in CBS’ drama pilot Matlock, a new take on the classic legal TV drama starring Andy Griffith, which comes from Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder Urman and NCIS: Los Angeles star Eric Christian Olsen.
In Matlock, written by Urman and to be directed by Kat Coiro, after achieving success in her younger years, the brilliant septuagenarian Madeline Matlock (Bates) rejoins the work force at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within.
Marshall will play Olympia. A formidable attorney with a thirst for justice, Olympia is a key rainmaker at New York’s most prestigious law firm. Juggling work and life, she remains laser-focused and not the easiest to impress, which is apparent when she is tasked to oversee a third junior associate.

‘Chicago P.D.’: Sophia Bush Went on a Raid With the Chicago Police While Taking Down a Heroin Dealer
It’s been several seasons since Sophia Bush played Detective Erin Lindsay on Chicago P.D., but her legacy is still present. Not only was she part of the cast that successfully launched the second installment of the One Chicago universe after P.D. spawned from Chicago Fire, but she left an indelible impression on fans.
Chicago P.D. is now in its 10th season. Bush left after Season 4, which means she’s been gone for more than half the series. However, while on the show, she made every effort to portray the realities of being a police officer in Chicago. According to the actor, this included donning bulletproof vests during ride-alongs that led to real-life arrests.
Sophia Bush points out the criminal contrasts of living in Chicago
As with many stars on the One Chicago shows, Bush was based in Chicago while a cast member on Chicago P.D. Detective Lindsay was an early Fire-p.

Sundance alum Qasim Basir returns to Park City with “To Live and Die and Live,” an endlessly grim tale about a filmmaker’s homecoming to Detroit for his father’s funeral and some unfinished business. The ladies of "One Tree Hill" are back on the red carpet almost two decades later. Hilarie Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz, and Sophia Bush, who played Peyton Sawyer, Haley James, and Brooke Davis respectively on the aughts show, joined together at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas over the weekend. The trio smiled arm in arm on Sept. 23 before introducing Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo as performers at the annual event. Burton wore a sleek black pantsuit covered in sequins; Lenz, a gold bow minidress; and Bush rocked a pinstripe suit.
As cohosts of "Drama Queens," a weekly "One Tree Hill" rewatch podcast, the actors have spent plenty of time together over the years, but this appearance marks the first time the three have posed on the same red carpet since 2005. In fact, Bush and Burton recently hung out in New York City, where they wore matching white power suits.

Gomez has been written out of the series following the conclusion of FBI: Most Wanted Season 3.
The news broke in June, with Deadline citing a "creative decision" as the likely reason for the exit of Gomez as Special Agent Ivan Ortiz.
Hodge is set to play Ray Cannon on the CBS procedural, a man who graduated at the top of his class at Quantico.
Hodge’s other TV credits include Good Sam, Mayans M.C., Chicago Fire, For All Mankind, and Six.

Edwin Hodge is joining the Fugitive Task Force on “FBI: Most Wanted,” CBS confirmed to TheWrap on Monday.
The actor, whose credits include “Good Sam,” “For All Mankind,” “Winning Time,” and “Mayans M.C.,” is filling the vacancy left by Miguel Gomez, who played Ivan Ortiz for two seasons.
Hodge will play Ray Cannon, who transfers to Remy Scott’s (Dylan McDermott) team from the Violent Crimes office in Albany. The character was a cop in New Orleans before graduating at the top of his class at Quantico last year.
Series lead McDermott is also a fairly new addition to the procedural: He took over for the departing Julian McMahon, whose character Jess Lacroix was killed off in Season 3.

FBI: Most Wanted has recruited Edwin Hodge to fill the Season 4 void that was left by Miguel Gomez’s exit.
Gomez, who had played Special Agent Ivan Ortiz for two seasons, parted ways with the CBS procedural in early June, the result of what was reported at the time to be a “creative decision.” (In May’s Season 3 finale, Ortiz left the Fugitive Task Force to go back home to L.A. and take care of his sick father.)

TV academy voters are faced with a daunting task when they fill out their 2022 Emmy Awards nominations ballot in that they have to consider 171 shows for Best Drama Series. This is up by 38 from last year. As has been the case since 2017, members do not have to winnow their choices down to a set amount and are instead being told to “vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Last year’s champ, “The Crown,” will not return to seek another victory, as no new episodes of the Netflix series have aired since its fourth season finale in November 2020. Of its seven 2021 rivals, three – “The Boys,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and “The Mandalorian” – also did not return in time to meet the eligibility window of June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022. Another two – “Lovecraft Country” and “Pose” – ended their runs in October 2020 and June 2021, respectively.

From The CW bloodbath to some of our favorite dramas wrapping things up, we lost some quality television this year.
While it was great to see shows like This is Us leave on their own terms, not every series ended in a way that was satisfying to fans.
And some shows are still fighting for a second chance
We gathered a list of some of the shows we'll miss the most, in no particular order, for you to check out.
Let us know what you'll miss in the comments and if we missed any of your favorites.
The Baby-Sitters Club
The series was one of the few that featured preteen and young teen girls as they came of age and showed empowering stories as they ran their own business. It included real-life stories and modernized them from the novels, covering juvenile diabetes, parents' divorce and remarriage, death, and first love.

No one would argue that broadcast TV is booming in 2022, but on a show by show basis, things don’t look quite as bleak as they did a year ago.
Whereas in 2020-21, only one network series — The CW’s All American — grew both its total audience and adults 18-49 rating, several shows managed the feat in the 2021-22 season, according to Nielsen’s final seven-day ratings for the season. The gainers were led by the top two shows on TV, NBC’s Sunday Night Football (18 million viewers, 5.0 rating in 18-49) and Fox’s Thursday Night Football (15.4 million, 4.3), which posted decent improvements in both measures.
The Monday edition of American Idol (6.99 million viewers, 1.0 in 18-49) and several other sports franchises, including ABC’s Saturday college football and NBA showcases, also had gains in both viewers and the key ad demographic. NBC’s Law...

This is still early stages, but Magnum P.I. fans might have hope that the Season 4 finale isn’t going to be the end. The drama was one of several shows canceled by CBS on May 12 — Good Sam, How We Roll, and B Positive also got the ax that day — and according to Deadline, Universal Television began to see if it could live on elsewhere. (Magnum P.I. is produced by Universal and CBS Studios.) CBS dramas Evil and Seal Team have made the move over to Paramount+, but according to the report, NBC or USA Network are “the focus… as a viable option” and “conversations are progressing and are now in advanced stages.” Because it is a coproduction, CBS Studios has to be part of the conversation, but those talks have reportedly “not started yet.” There is a ticking clock on this, however, with the cast’s contracts expiring at the end of June.

News of the Magnum P.I. cancellation after four seasons took fans by surprise when it was announced last week.
The series was a decent performer in its fourth season for CBS, averaging 7.3 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49 with a week of DVR factored in.
Even more surprising was that the show was relatively stable year to year, meaning that a renewal was expected.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl opened up about the decision Wednesday to TV Line.
“You have some tough decisions to make and you have lots of factors — and I’m not going to rule [the licensing fee] out as one of them," he told the outlet.
"It was a great team to work with, and one of the tougher decisions we had to make.”
The numbers for the show were strong, so it is possible that the series could return in some capacity.
"All good thing must come to an end.

April showers gave way to May flowers, and April meetings among network executives led to the cancellations and renewals of existing broadcast series. Of course, there were plenty of nail-biter decisions made in May regarding CBS’, NBC’s, Fox’s, ABC’s, and The CW’s slate.
Find all of the cancels and renewals below. We should note here that not every cancelled TV show goes away on bad terms: Among the 20-something or so series we won’t be seeing again in the 2022-23 season, there were a few preplanned decisions — like the ending of NBC’s “This Is Us” and ABC’s “Black-ish” — that got mixed in.
You’ll notice we only focused on scripted series here. Sans a handful of perennial reality standouts like CBS’ “Survivor,” which has been officially renewed for Season 43, unscripted programming kind of does its own thing on its own schedule. Yeah, the...

We're still trying to come to make sense of the decision to cancel Magnum P.I. after four seasons.
The well-rated reboot starring Jay Hernandez learned its fate Thursday, and the leading man took to social media Friday to open up about the cancellation.
"All good thing must come to an end. We made memories I'll be forever grateful for and thanks to each & every one of you for going on this wild ride with us," the star said.
"It's all love. Until next time."
In its fourth and now-final season, Magnum P.I. averaged 7.4 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in live + 7 ratings.
The show rated well for CBS on Fridays, pulling in comparable numbers to the network's other offerings on the night.
The series also starred Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Amy Hill, and Tim Kang.
"That’s Aloha from us at Magnum Pi," Weeks shared on Instagram.

CBS freshman How We Roll moved up in ratings, after getting the axe on Thursday.
Ahead of its Upfronts presentation next week, CBS cleared a majority of its sitcom slate. In addition to the Pete Holmes-starrer, CBS cancelled United States of Al, B Positive, Magnum P.I. and Good Sam. Per fast affiliates, the latest episodes of How We Roll were up in both measures from the previous week.
United States of Al also saw a similar trend, rising from its previous original episode. Spared from Thursday’s cancellation spree was Young Sheldon, which continues to be CBS’ top Thursday show. Young Sheldon earned the night’s largest audience and tied with Law & Order: Svu for Thursday’s top demo rating. CBS concluded the night with a steady Bull, which will conclude its series run later this month.
