A deleted prologue sequence from writer/director Adam McKay's Vice (2018) is presented as a self-contained short film titled "Best of All, He Loves Me Back" (complete with opening and closing credits) in the deleted scenes on the DVD/Blu-ray release. The sequence is listed as "High School" on the DVD/Blu-ray deleted scenes menu.
The opening text of the "High School" ("Best of All, He Loves Me Back") sequence reads: "It was 1959 at Natrona High in Wyoming and Dick Cheney had a crush on Lynne Vincent, the state baton twirling champion and an honor student. But Lynne was dating Tom Fake, the star quarterback an Dick's best friend. Then, as homecoming was approaching everything changed..."
The closing text of the "High School" ("Best of All, He Loves Me Back") sequence reads: "To this day the people of Casper say, whomever Lynne would have married would have been President or Vice President."
In the "High School" ("Best of All, He Loves Me Back") sequence, Lynne Vincent's drunken father (portrayed by Shea Whigham) calls her mother "Karen", but Lynne's mother's real name was Edna.
The "High School" ("Best of All, He Loves Me Back") footage is presented primarily in black and white, with the exception of a few filmstrip-styled shots that appear in limited and very muted color.
