With multiple Godzilla movies and T.V. shows dropping this year, it might be tricky for fans to track them all. Here is a guide that can help! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
On November 3, 2023, Toho Studios released what many consider to be one of the best Godzilla films in recent times — “Godzilla Minus One.” Then, Legendary Pictures came out with their first live-action series featuring the not-so-gentle giant in “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” on November 17, 2023. They had also recently created an animated series based on King Kong called “Skull Island” on June 22, 2023.
With that being said — 2023 was Godzilla’s year, without a doubt! However, there’s a big difference between the Godzilla movies from Toho Studios and Legendary Pictures. Simply put, Toho owns Godzilla. However, Legendary Pictures secured the rights to the giant 500-ft lizard and other monsters in the Kaiju universe in 2014, ultimately coming up with a ‘Hollywood’ version known as the MonsterVerse.

Josh Hutcherson has starred in some memorable projects since starting in the industry as a child, but there’s one role he lost out on that might surprise fans.
During a recent interview with BuzzFeed, the actor revealed he auditioned for one of the Home Alone films when he was younger.
“I was probably 11, I think, when I auditioned for it,” the Five Nights at Freddy’s actor recalled. “It got down to me and the other guy. That was the first time that I tasted rejection, so that was really hard.”
Though Hutcherson didn’t share what installment in the Home Alone franchise he auditioned for, based on the timeline, it would have been one of the newer films. Since the first two movies that Macaulay Culkin is most known for were released in 1990 and 1992, right around when Hutcherson was born.

In many ways, Chris Columbus and John Hughes made the most successful Christmas movie of all time with Home Alone. Sure, there are other movies that might rank high in the pantheon for some, but in terms of box office alone, this was a juggernaut, grossing $476 million in 1990, which, adjusted for inflation, is about $1.1 Billion in 2023. No other Christmas movie comes close to that number, and that’s not even counting how much money it made on home video, where it was one of the biggest-selling titles of all time, plus all its plays on cable, streaming and more.
Yet, it’s also a movie that would never be made now, with the film climaxing with Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister laying a series of traps for Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern’s Harry and Marv that would likely put real men in their graves. Crazy as it sounds, Home Alone...

Last year, it was announced that Fighting with My Family co-stars Nick Frost and Lena Headey were going to reunite to work on the serial killer thriller Svalta, which was set to start filming in Finland soon. Well, the movie was shot in Finland and production recently wrapped, but Headey had to drop out of the project due to scheduling issues before it started rolling. Deadline reports that her character ended up being played by Aisling Bea, whose previous credits include This Way Up, Living with Yourself, and Home Sweet Home Alone.
Svalta was directed by Steffen Haars (New Kids Turbo) from a screenplay Frost wrote himself. The story follows a family on their summer vacation to a remote island where they discover a serial killer is on the loose. Unfortunately for them, the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family. The title is taken from the name of the fictional island.

In the four years since the Walt Disney Company bought 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight, the core studio — now known as 20th Century Studios — has become for the most part a content mill for its streaming services.
Some key IP — like next summer’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” — are still deemed worthy of theaters but most 20th Century Studios films, like the true-crime thriller “Boston Strangler” and “Vacation Friends 2,” are streaming-bound.
Insiders differ on whether this is a temporary situation caused by Covid variables, a Wall Street-driven rush to streaming and an uncertain theatrical marketplace playing their parts. Will the formally theatrically-focused powerhouse fade into Disney-backed irrelevancy or might an improved theatrical marketplace offer the former titan a chance to be more than just a streaming supply arm for the Walt Disney Company?
In March of 2019, the Walt Disney Company paid $71 billion for Fox Studios.

“Deadpool 3” just added two key returning cast members to its roster, according to sources close to the project. Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will reprise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio, joining Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin (Deadpool’s love interest who was fridged and then un-fridged during “Deadpool 2”) in the Shawn Levy-directed sequel.
Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine, joining franchise newbies Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen. Also returning from earlier films will be Karan Soni (Wade Wilson’s preferred cab driver), Leslie Uggams (Wade’s blind roommate), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus) and Rob Delaney (as entirely human X-Force member Peter who was also un-killed at the end of “Deadpool 2”).

Exclusive: 20th Century Studios has acquired Naughty, an original feature pitch from Siena East (Clone High) conceived as a starring vehicle for Amber Midthunder (Prey), multiple sources tell Deadline.
Pic’s storyline is under wraps, though the project is described as a holiday action rom-com. East will pen the script, with Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson to produce through their Hutch Parker Entertainment banner, which has a first-look deal with 20th. Hutch Parker Entertainment’s John Scott Gibney will co-produce after bringing the material in, with Midthunder to serve as exec producer. A director has not yet been attached.
Midthunder was last in business with 20th Century Studios as the star of Prey, a sci-fi actioner taking the Predator franchise back to the early 18th century. The film directed by Dan Trachtenberg shattered records upon its August 2022 domestic debut on Hulu, securing the biggest premiere in the history of the platform.

ABC has formally ordered a comedy pilot based on the BAFTA-winning BBC series Motherland.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Ellie Kemper will topline the pilot, titled Drop-Off, from Lionsgate Television — which owns worldwide rights to Motherland — and ABC Signature. The originals’s creators, Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh and Helen Serafinowicz, are among the executive producers, as is Kemper. Julieanne Smolinski (ABC’s Home Economics) is writing and exec producing the pilot, and Michael Showalter (The Dropout) will direct.
Drop-Off will follow Julia (Kemper), a working mom for whom nothing is working, so she goes looking for her village. With the help of new friends Calvin and Liz, Julia discovers she just might succeed at balancing work and parenting from time to time.
Motherland has aired three seasons on BBC Two (it streams on AMC+ in the United States) and won the BAFTA Award for best scripted comedy last year.

Rami Malek is circling his next lead role in the thriller "Amateur" from 20th Century Studios. Deadline reports that James Hawes — who directed all six episodes of the first season of "Slow Horses," the Gary Oldman-led Apple TV+ series — has also boarded the project. Right now, it's still in the development stages, with Malek in line to executive produce alongside Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson.
The plot of "Amateur" reportedly "follows a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them." The CIA isn't having any of that, and "when it becomes clear they won't act due to conflicting internal priorities," the cryptographer takes matters into his own hands and "blackmails the agency into training him."

Was Disney right to pay 71 billion for Fox’s entertainment empire? The sprawling properties it brought in-house helped fuel Disney+ and have given returning CEO Bob Iger a much-needed box office hit with “Avatar: The Way of Water” as he settles back into his old chair.
But investors are scrutinizing spending much more closely than they used to. Disney still carries a hefty debt load from the Fox deal and Iger’s rebound tenure has a time limit as he searches once again for a successor.
As adult-skewing movies struggle in theaters and Wall Street changes the rules in the streaming war, Disney’s purchase of Fox’s studio properties may prove to be Iger’s biggest blunder, dealing lasting damage to the company’s reputation among shareholders for media-merger magic. The Home Alone series is pretty beloved. Well, maybe not all of them, but the first two are considered Christmas classics by pretty much everyone. In the week leading up to Christmas, it’s hard not to come across the first two Home Alone movies on TV, with the Chris Columbus/ John Hughes slapstick comedy movies that have endured for generations of viewers. They made Macaulay Culkin a household name and made Joe Pesci an unlikely comedy star, directly leading to his star roles in movies like The Super and My Cousin Vinny. It also made Daniel Stern a comedy power player for a while, and indeed the films paid significant dividends in the lasting legacies of all three leads.
But, with Culkin’s Kevin aging visibly between the first and second films, the choice was made to replace Culkin in the third, lower-budget movie, with Alex D. Linz our...

Joe Pesci is looking back at his time filming Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and recalled getting “serious burns” during one of the memorable scenes from the holiday movie.
“In addition to the expected bumps, bruises, and general pains that you would associate with that particular type of physical humor, I did sustain serious burns to the top of my head during the scene where Harry’s hat is set on fire,” Pesci told People. “I was fortunate enough to have professional stuntmen do the real heavy stunts.”
Fans may recall that Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister runs into criminals Pesci’s Harry and Daniel Stern’s Marv once again but this time in the Big Apple. To try to get away from them, Kevin pulls pranks and sets traps for the villains in the movie. In one particular scene, Kevin’s trap sets Harry’s hat on fire.

When I discovered Disney+ had a sequel miniseries in the works for the "Santa Clause" Christmas movie series, dread stirred deep in my inner being. So far, I did not have much luck with these properties: "Home Sweet Home Alone" was painfully unfunny, while the "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid" 2021 animated reboot was inconsequential and — dare I say? — boring (a fatal flaw in any kids' film). I had come to accept that Disney+ was where the 20th Century Studios franchises went to die. Thankfully (if surprisingly), that does not appear to be the case for "The Santa Clauses" miniseries — at least not based on the two episodes provided for review.
"The Santa Clauses" is a direct sequel to the beloved "Santa Clause" trilogy. Scott Calvin (Tim Allen), aka Santa Claus, is nearing his 65th birthday, and it's clear the Christmas magic is starting to wane. This leads him and his wife,...

It came down to the wire — the Emmys are next month, after all — but NBC and the Television Academy have finally found a host for this year’s ceremony: “Saturday Night Live” star Kenan Thompson.
Thompson, the longest-running cast member in “SNL” history, was named after a lengthy search by NBC, the Academy and Emmys producers Done+Dusted and Reggie Hudlin to find an A-list name that might shake things up. It turns out, the A-lister was in their own backyard. The telecast will air live Sept. 12 on NBC, and stream on Peacock as well.

Eagle-eyed “Better Call Saul” fans who are also fans of a certain beloved 1990s film franchise might’ve caught an unexpected cameo: Devin Ratray, who starred as Kevin McCallister’s (Macaulay Culkin) older brother Buzz in “Home Alone,” appears in Season 6, Episode 11 of Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s series, now in its final season.
The episode, cannily titled “Breaking Bad,” was also noteworthy for finally introducing the long-awaited appearance of Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), officially merging the timelines of the AMC original series and this prequel one. But as first caught by Decider, Ratray makes his own appearance as an insufferable man named Alfred Hawthorne Hill, who meets Gene (Jimmy/Saul Goodman in his post-“Breaking Bad” persona in the time-jumping episode) at a karaoke bar. Gene here is sliding back into his old scheming ways and with the help of a cab driver...

A joyless exercise in IP mining, “Cheaper by the Dozen” is all the more depressing for its glimpses of unfulfilled potential.
No one really needed to follow up a 2005 sequel of a 2003 remake of a 1950 adaptation of a 1948 autobiographical novel. But if you’re going to attempt to bring this story into the present day, you couldn’t ask for a better team than director Gail Lerner and writers Kenya Barris and Jenifer Rice-Genzuk Henry (“Grown-ish”). And who wouldn’t want to see a charmingly practical Gabrielle Union reign over lots of cute kids and a loving — if lackluster — husband played by Zach Braff?
Other than Braff, who isn’t actually supposed to be playing lackluster, it’s hard to say where everything went wrong. Lerner, Barris, and Henry all work primarily in TV, but that shouldn’t have been an unscalable obstacle. Barris co-wrote 2017’s raucous “Girls Trip,” and...

“Are you really doing a domestic box office marketshare piece?”
Such is the whine from several studio insiders and Corp Comm folk.
Of course, we are. Why wouldn’t we? In the best and worst of times, in the published horserace of box office dollars, we still need to know where the studios stand when all the dust settles, even if the pandemic kept business at bay with $4.55 billion for 2021 in U.S. and Canada, below the expected $5.2 billion.
What continues to frustrate many major studio theatrical executives in this annual exercise is how the Disney-Fox merger continues to tip the scales in both a global and domestic box office race.
Disney is clearly counting all of their labels–Disney, 20th Century Studios and Searchlight, and proclaiming themselves the winner with $1.17 billion in the U.S./Canada (+180% over 2020) and $2.9 billion global. Stateside that translates into 27% of the $4.55 billion 2021 domestic B.

“The Wheel of Time,” Amazon Prime Video’s latest high fantasy series starring Rosamund Pike, Kate Fleetwood and Madeleine Madden, clocked 1.16 billion viewing minutes during its debut week, making it the streamer’s most watched original series since 2020’s “Hunters.”
Per Nielsen’s Top 10 SVOD Lists, the show, based on Robert Jordan’s bestselling novels of the same name, premiered as the No. 1 original. The series also attracted a slightly older audience profile, with 65% of its watchers in the 35-64 age range — which makes sense, given that the book series began in 1990, spanning 14 volumes.
Per metrics released by Prime Video for the week of Nov. 15 to 21, “The Wheel of Time” was one of the top five launches of all time for the streamer, attracting tens of millions of eyeballs in its first three days. The company also noted in the announcement that the first novel in the “Wheel of Time” series,...

Netflix movie Red Notice held on to the top spot on Nielsen’s U.S. streaming chart, as Prime Video series The Wheel of Time topped 1 billion minutes of viewing to finish No. 2.
The latest numbers capture activity during the week of November 15 to 21. Nielsen tracks viewing of Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney and Hulu via TV sets, issuing the numbers after a month’s delay, by arrangement with streaming providers.
Red Notice, a comedy-laced heist movie, stars Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. It premiered theatrically November 5 and started streaming a week later. Its second-week hold isn’t a fully legit stat given it was streaming for only three days in its first outing compared with the full seven days in Week 2, but it stayed near its opening level of viewing. In its debut week, the film collected about 1.8 billion streaming minutes, dipping to about 1.7 billion in the most recent week.

Whether we want to admit it or not, any one of us who grew up watching "Home Alone" would kill to get to spend a cold Christmas night at Kevin's massive family home. Well, now you can!
Located north of downtown Chicago, this Winnetka home was the actual shooting location for the majority of that first "Home Alone" movie. It's not one of those places where the exterior was used and then everything you see inside was a set, so if you ever find yourself getting a peek inside, especially around Christmastime, you'll likely get overwhelmed with nostalgia.

Here’s a Christmas rental where you can truly bring the family
Airbnb is offering a one-night-only rental of the famed McCallister family home in Winnetka, Illinois. Your stay will be hosted by Kevin’s older brother, Buzz McCallister.
“Though we’re older and wiser now (I’ve even got my own security firm), we’re never too old for holiday hijinks. So while we’re away on vacation, I’m inviting one crew of mischief makers to let their inner eight-year-olds run free in my childhood home on Dec. 12,” said a statement on Airbnb from Buzz, played by Devin D. Ratray. He also played the role of the robber in Home Sweet Home Alone, the Disney+ reboot of the original 1990 classic holiday flick.

This black comedy about an author of romantic vampire novels with an unexpected visitor is sucked dry of dramatic tension
Home Alone meets The Lost Boys in this trashy half-way entertaining Christmas vampire movie from director Sean Nichols Lynch; it’s a black comedy with some silly splattery gore. Lynch makes the most of a limited budget and his self-aware script is sometimes genuinely funny, too. Still, you wouldn’t exactly call it light of touch and the actors struggle a bit with the comic register. Some scenes leave you wondering: is this intentionally naff or just a bit wooden?
The setting is Lake Tahoe a couple of nights before Christmas. Dennice Cisneros plays Olivia, an unpublished author of romantic vampire novels who lives alone; her kitchen drawer is stuffed full of rejection letters. Any jobbing writer will sympathise with Olivia’s decision-making when she rescues a bat that turns...

With the introduction of Disney+ and therefore the need for new shows and movies it is no surprise at all that the most well known of Christmas movies got a sequel on the streaming platform. The original Home Alone (and that first sequel) is one of my favourite movies ever and any modern day sequel was going to have a tough time being anywhere near as good as the first two films. That said, with a talented cast, I was looking forward to seeing how Home Sweet Home Alone turned out.
Apart from a child being left home alone, the story is changed up a little bit. This time, the crooks aren’t really crooks but a married couple...

That said, with a talented cast, I was looking forward to seeing how Home Sweet Home Alone turned out.
Apart from a child being left home alone, the story is changed up a little bit. This time, the crooks aren’t really crooks but a married couple...

Exhibitors who still believe that studios might settle on a 45-day minimum on theatrical exclusivity saw their hopes crushed by “No Time to Die.” A month after its release, United Artists debuted the title on Premium VOD at $19.99. The timing parallels Universal’s 31-day strategy for films that open over $50 million.
As anticipated, the latest James Bond immediately placed #1 on multiple charts, both those ranking by transactions and revenue (Vudu). The film remained at #4 in theaters over the weekend, with a 23 percent drop the second lowest among top 10 films. Once again, the home-viewing marketing push also appeared to benefit ticket sales.
Disney is #2 and #3 across the board, as represented by “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” ($19.99) and “Free Guy” ($5.99), respectively. Four other Disney titles, led by “Jungle Cruise” ($12.99) and “Black Widow” ($5.99), took 10 of the 30 positions on the charts. More impressive is that all but “Free Guy” now stream free for Disney + subscribers.

The holiday season is upon us yet again, and more exciting than the festivities is the number of Christmas movies that are going to crop up. From animations to rom-coms, the show of Christmas on the big screen is a culture that will never really go away. It lingers around year-in-year-out, and it doesn’t matter whether Macaulay Culkin is outwitting burglars in Home Alone or Madea is giving us comedy gold on A Madea Christmas. There have been more Christmas movies released than we can count. Here are those that made a killing at the box office: 1.‘The Grinch’ ($511

A Christmas heist movie? Two burglars try to steal from a house that happens to have a couple of kids there too. You’d be forgiven for thinking you might have seen this all before but Christmas Thieves is nothing at all like Home Alone.
I don’t mean in quality either – I don’t expect any movie, let alone a Christmas movie, to be as great as Home Alone but this movie just goes off in all kinds of directions and is not at all what I expected.
In Christmas Thieves ,Frank (Tom Arnold) and Vince (Michael Madsen) are ready to take presents from houses on Christmas Eve when they happen upon a house...

Since its release over thirty years ago, "Home Alone" has become a traditional holiday watch for families all around the globe. When the Walt Disney Company purchased 20th Century Fox, a new installment of the kid-centered holiday classic was inevitable. Rather than focus on legitimate baddies like Harry (Daniel Stern) and Marv (Joe Pesci), and a precocious Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), we're given a sympathetic couple down on their luck in the form of Jeff (Rob Delaney) and Pam McKenzie (Ellie Kemper), and a rich sociopath named Max Mercer (Archie Yates of "Jojo Rabbit" fame) in "Home Sweet Home Alone."

Who says you can't go home again? Twenty-six years after Home Alone turned Macaulay Culkin into the world's most famous child star and became a Christmas staple, the classic movie's Disney Plus remake is finally here. Home Sweet Home Alone finds JoJo Rabbit standout Artie Yates filling Culkin's iconic puffer jacket and beanie as Max Mercer, Gen-z's Kevin McCallister. The British 10-year-old is tasked with defending his Chicago home from robbers (Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney) after he is left alone for the holidays when his family departs for a vacation in Tokyo. In this version, they're tripped up by the fact that they were split up onto separate flights....
