The poor acting killed it
Laura_Ratings2 April 2022
The movie could have been way better, the plot had potential with the use of this lore, but it was executed poorly. The mid-range acting skills killed the mood on several occassions and the plotholes didn't help either. At one point the father said to his daughter "don't look" while sort of making an attempt to shield her? It didn't work at all though, because his hand was uselessly waving around in the air instead of actually trying to cover her face or turn her away from the scene. If you watch it, you'll know what I mean.

In my opinion the movie was quite boring and I don't necessarily even recommend it.

Not total rubbish, but very boring
ncoleby4 May 2022
There is nothing really too wrong with this film apart from that it is so drawn out and boring.

Everything is average. It's not the kind of really bad film you sometimes get, where it looks amateurish. No, it looked ok, the actors were ok, the camera work was ok. Everything was ok and was a perfect ground for something chilling. However it never happened.

A lot of darkness and running from the monster. Personally I am mostly bored at the moment in any film when they just seem to run away and are chased by whatever. This film was almost the whole time just running and hiding, and that was very boring.

I gave it a 3 because it wasn't an insult like some films. The actors deserved that much. They were likeable but boring.

This is not going to hold anyone's attention and nothing exciting ever happens. Even what should be exciting is boring.

If you want a background movie for chatting with friends, this is kind of ideal. It will never grab the attention of anyone in the room away from your chatting, and yet you can have some moving images on, like a fireplace.

Not bad, but..

Warning: Spoilers
I have given birth to four children. And I can guarantee you, that putting on jeans, and then go sitting on a strangers sofa two hours after pushing a human out of your yayway, is next level YOLO. Especially without any sanitary products available whatsoever.

Ridiculous!

The strangest part of this would-be-creature-feature is when Katlyn's (the daughter) best friend shows up in the middle of the night and nobody seems to worry when she leaves by herself as they are waiting around-shotguns in hand-for the appearance of the demon.

The friend then leaves in the middle of the night, and doesn't even get to the car before she is toast.

Boring and pointless venture into the horror genre...
paul_haakonsen2 April 2022
Well, no wonder that the days were nameless, because the 2022 horror mystery "The Nameless Days" was a massive swing and a miss from writers and directors Andrew Mecham and Matthew Whedon.

Sure, when I sat down to watch "The Nameless Days" it was without knowing anything about the movie, aside from it being a horror movie. I found the movie's cover/poster to be interesting, and since it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen, I needed no persuasion to sit down and watch it.

But the storyline in "The Nameless Days" was just bland and downright boring. I actually drifted off to sleep twice during the monotonous and pointless narrative that moved with the speed of snails. So yeah, you're not exactly in for a grand moment in horror cinema with this movie.

The acting performances in the movie were adequate. Not great mind you, but not bad either. So at least the movie had that working for it. I wasn't familiar with the cast here, which I usually enjoy when watching movies, but the cast in "The Nameless Days" literally had nothing to work with.

Visually then "The Nameless Days" was bland. Again, you're not in for a grand cinematic experience in the horror genre, should you opt to sit down and watch this movie.

My rating of "The Nameless Days" lands on a two out of ten stars. This is not a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on. Some of us did suffer through the ordeal so you don't have to.

horror B-movie
SnoopyStyle16 December 2022
An Aztec demon hounds the American-Mexican border for 5 days. Rahui and his pregnant sister Gabriela are trying to cross the border when the supernatural being attacks the group. Track athlete Nicole (Ally Ioannides) and her migrant-hating father Charlie (Charles Halford) live on the family ranch at the border.

This is functional as a B-horror movie with a few problems. The biggest issue is the monster. I don't like her. She's too slow. Nicole is supposed to be a track athlete. It seems set up for a fast monster to chase after her. She's not scary enough. For a horror, that is deadly. There are also a few minor issues with the acting, the staging, and the plot. If they fix the monster, this would be fine.

Aztec lore with potential
This was not a total waste of time, it just felt a tad undercooked. Now, should it be at the top of your cue? Probably not... but it had some decent potential.

The foundation of the plot and the lore behind it was solid, spooky and intriguing. It was that and the poster that got me to commit to watching. Unfortunately, it didn't go much of anywhere and teetered on the precipice of boring... It just really needed to beef up that storyline and action.

It held it together for the first 2/3s despite its cliche script and slight lack of engaging action... but something about when it hit the third act it really kinda fell apart. The story and the acting seemed to go down hill and something about the over all quality felt like it gained 10 indi points... and not the particularly positive ones. The monster also had some potential but piece by piece leading up to the final reveal it unfortunately looked sillier and sillier.

However, as stated, the story was intriguing and spooky. Also for the majority of it the acting was pretty decent from most of the cast. If you are a forgiving viewer and patient with/appreciative of indi cinema I would recommend. 4.5 rounding down to a 4.

For fans of the classic B horror moves & people who aren't wannabe movie critics
mldardar12 April 2022
I notice more movies being low-rated here than years ago. Watching movies & listening to music are my favortie forms of entertainment. But it seems like most people commenting on movies here these days, actually don't like movies. They seem to expect every movie to be on the level of Marvel or DC, unless Nicolas Cage stars. Then it can be as idiotic as the WWE and reality TV. Is it those 4 years of Trump, or these years with the CCP virus that infected so many people's ability to enjoy anything. One ridiculous comment about this movie mentions the bland landscape, apparently so out of touch with the world that they forgot that life happens in ugly places as well as the beautiful vistas of New Zealand.

The Nameless Days has flaws, but none that would take away a normal horror movie fan's enjoyment. To us, it wasn't a waste. Fans of low-budget horror movies of the past, that TCM recognizes as horror classics should be able to appreciate this fun little supernatural horror. For the wannabe Roger Eberts, no this, your idol was a wannabe director who flopped at movie-making, so like so many UK musicians who failed became the harshest music critics, Rog became a movie critic, critiquing what he couldn't accomplish. I always preferred Gene Siskel, & watched mainly to see extra scenes from movies not shown in the trailers.

Not too bad
avix_0072 April 2022
In fact, it's pretty okay for a low-budget, no-star horror film - with some decent acting and cinematography - but it lacks narrative punch (most evident in the lacklustre ending).

I enjoyed it!
sandilew-236-1490558 August 2022
I was weaned on scary movies. Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein. Stories that creeped into your dreams, but not so gory as to traumatize anyone. I guess the blood, guts and gore has a place, but I still prefer a story. This story worked for me. I'm glad that I ignored the naysayers.

Worth the watch
abbigaelc12 April 2022
I enjoyed this film, I appreciated that it gave more of a storyline. So many horror flicks rely just on gore and scare leaving. Nameless days has an interesting storyline, message, and the spook factor! It's a low budget film that is well done!
