It is sad it is only six episodes, and why is the age recommendation 16?
Well, anyway...
First of all, young me was a big fan of the nickelodeon tv-series Winx club.
Therefore I was thrilled when I saw this new series on Netflix. Some people expected this series to be more like the original, but since it seems like they target an older audience, it is no surprise that it does not. Although some might say that the dialogues are a bit cringe, I find that quite charming. To not completely lose the feeling and character of the original series, those "cringy" dialogues and exaggerated teenage dramas served their purpose.
The world they have created is complex, and there is a lot of room for different storylines to develop. Although this is a fantasy world with supernatural elements, it seems to have some rules and thereby be more realistic.
The cast is good, and the characters' personalities and backstories get more complex for every episode. The characters have a good diversity, which supports the credibility of the world they created. Also, it is good because more of the audience will feel a stronger connection to the characters.
The main storyline is captivating and, the more information we get, the more complicated it seems. The end of season one came too fast! I wish they do not cancel this show. It has good potential to be in for the long run :)
