The investigation into the death of a popular slasher movie actress is complicated by a series of frame-ups, double crosses, and blackmail attempts.

The team investigates the murder of Weatherley Adams, a horror/slasher film actress found on the set with an ax in her back. The autopsy reveals that she was gored but that the ax wasn't the murder weapon. There was also too little blood at the scene leading them to believe the body was moved. When Ronnie Lake discovers a second body at the studio hanging from the rafters, she also comes face to face with the killer. Sara Sidle despairs at having to face 'death everyday.—garykmcd

After countless bloody screen deaths in sleazy Vegas horror productions, Weatherley Adams dies 'forever' on set, at night. Yet the ex in her back wasn't fatal, unlike a mystery blade. One suspect is her former colleague and lover Oliver Zarco, who was mutilated in a set fire seasons ago. The brothers Vincent, Mason and Dickie Lafoon, who own the set, suggested him as suspect, but are found lying about the entry and security camera. When the famous actress of slasher movies, Weatherly Adams, goes missing, Brass and Nick investigate her disappearance. Nick checks her dressing room and finds her purse with wallet, cell phone and car keys inside. Her car is parked in her slot. When Nick goes to the basement of the studio, he finds her body with an ax in her back together with parts of dummies. A horror film studio loses its main star when scream queen Weatherly Adams is murdered after a night of filming. The CSI team moves in and questions a number of suspects, including Weatherly's former boyfriend, Oliver Zarco, a one-time film crew member who was recently disfigured in an on-set accident. The two studio owners, Vincent and Mason Lafoon, also come under scrutiny when Mason sets Vincent up to take the fall for the murder.

As Brass interrogates Mason, he confesses that Weatherly's death was really an accident--she tripped and fell on a pipe, impaling herself. Stanley Vespucci, head of production, insisted "the show must go on" and faked the murder so his company wouldn't be accused of safety violations. But Dickie Jones, a diminutive actor who has taken a shine to Catherine, turns up murdered at the studio after witnessing Weatherly's accidental death. Ronnie Lake discovers his body when she returns to the scene to locate her missing cell phone. She ends up involved in her own horror movie scenario, finding movie director Zach Putrid shot by Stanley Vespucci, who also killed Dickie to keep him quiet. But Ronnie is rescued by an unlikely hero: Oliver Zarco, dressed in one of Weatherly's finest dresses and a blonde wig, who takes out Stanley with an ax.
