This is simply an episode that works really well. The plot moves along really smoothly.

Why Are They Making Sara Howard a Mary Sue ??

They had the perfect strong female character in Season One. Now she knows all and does all. She is even doing all the Psychological profiling instead of Kreizler. They have obviously are giving the lines written for him to her character.
John Moore has be reduced to a weak character who spends all his time getting push around by his fiancee, Sara, and Hearst.
Kreizler just stands around and gabs most of the time since Sara now does everything that requires a brain.

Something is off with this season

I'm not quite sure why this season is so heavy with Dakota Fanning's characters Sarah. She's in just about every scene. It's called The Alienist, not the detective agency. Everything feels disjointed with the three of them and seems slower paced, making for not good tv. I feel like nothing is happening and yet I can't follow some scenes that are shown without being confused.
I want to love this season, since season one was brilliant but it's proving difficult as of episode 4.
