Almost sufficient onset
Antonio_Martilotti24 May 2021
One of the first films after the reopening of the cinemas.

I am assuming that I had zero expectations from the start.

Not a bad debut.

Unfortunately, however, from the first viewing I have not received many things.

A very confusing start.

Very confusing and nonsense details and details.

Very wide and frantic shots.

Very nice transitions with audio play.

In fact, the well-kept audio department made me very happy.

Unfortunately, however, many scenes with camera and crane movements are very nonsense.

The plot in general I can't judge them much more, but the final scene is an enigma, so it still doesn't happen.

Almost sufficient onset but not enough.

-Antonio.

Good start

It's a good start for Castellitto. Glorious actors for a movie edited like a puzzle. The characters are not strong enought to keep the attention. The plot is confused. Great picture for a movie that try to explain Italian society, young people and how hard is to start.

A boring list of clichés
lucaskill12 May 2021
As usual wealthy radical chic family and the proletarians, indeed fascist petty bourgeois but true people.

A narrative that the Italian right has been carrying out for decades

Nepotism remains a scourge for Italian artists.

no surprise this movie won Best Screenplay at Venice
giuseppe-bonavita19 October 2020
When you read the storyline you might believe that the movie is the usual contraposition between high and low society, and you will be mistaken, This movie is a puzzle, with each piece falling in its place at the right moment. Each time you connect two pieces, you get a surge of emotions, laugh and wonder. The pace grow relentless, and doesn't allow time to give a moral, the flow shakes you from one side to the other, it gets you often off guard. You end up sympathizing with the worst characters, because the story connected you with their emotions, and because you have just encountered somebody who is even worse. Terrific story, nice shots, good music, great acting.

Ok...so what?

Best screenplay in Venice? Looks like the "Titane" syndrome hit Venice as well. There is a misunderstanding between empty provocation (ahem, to call it someway) and quality. This screenplay was based on some (just some) good ideas but was wasted away, falling into chicles written by someone who thinks to know the country he's living in watching the brutes from his hivory tower of Roma Nord "that was like Vietnam", in his own words. The best thing about this movie it's the fact that the director/actor is the son of another famous director and a writer. He would not have done this movie nor won the prize if he was the son of a butcher or a milkman. That's Italy, yeah, indeed.

a very good first movie

There is life in italy cinema's industry! Castellitto wrote this film in a very good way, he also direct in a clean style going straight to the point. This movie talk about feelings and the life of youth people in Italy today and the italian society of 2000, and it's very rare to seen this kind of picture. If you have 20-30 year you must watch it!

A boring mess.

This movie was a waste of time. Messy script, unfocus characters and ultimately boring.
