Mix of Haikyuu + Slam Dunk
fluffset20 March 2020
I have watched so far 24 episodes and I can tell you that it is really great! I can say the mix of haikyuu because the protagonist is short but its not logic because Ahiru no Sora manga release in 2004 while Haikyuu is 2012. So, let say Haikyuu got inspiration from ANS (Maybe!) and all the yakuza-like character was an inspiration from Sakuragi Hanamichi. A lot of people talk about connection to Kuroko No Basuke too but never watch Kuroko so I dont really care. For me, its full with action, nice character development, great comedy and awesome! Lets watch together!

I regret watching this

First of all, it takes 15 episodes to finish a match... Same thing , repeating & repeating. The start was really good. But the last 30 episode was disaster.

One of the best Sports Animes I've ever seen.
dabomb-7736630 June 2020
All I got to say is that if you are looking for a different basketball/sports anime then you should really watch it. All the characters get their shine and you get to see some close-to-realistic basketball play. All the characters are unique and lovable and you really get to see their teamwork improve throughout the series. All in all, a must watch.

Not every story has happy ending

Warning: Spoilers
It's not good as kurokos basketball but it's good. I think the show isn't started yet. They have only played 3. Games something and 50 episodes over. And they haven't win any one game. The truth is it's not even a passionate sports guys. Our main guy and another fresh man was the only passionate one. The rest was some delinquent. So could expect more. It seems like real game though.

clone of Slamdunk with worse characters and depressing storyline
artorneo31 October 2020
It is a clone of Slamdunk with worse characters, poorer graphics, and a more depressing storyline. If you like to watch excellent teams and better players beat up an already disadvantaged team with only seven player only three or four of which can play decently, no proper coach, no proper adviser, non existent training, a dissolved club, this is the show for you. The main character is short, has a sick mom, and poor foundations. It is supposed to be uplifting somewhere but it only ends up being depressing. We are supposed to root for the main team, but one cannot help but be embarassed by their game. Neither the players not the student manager/coach knows what they are doing. You will root for their opponents, who are generally more interesting, trains harder, have better skills, and are more committed. You will wish the Kuzu team gets dissolved.

More drama than sports anime
kazekaiser12 October 2021
Too much zoom in still picture, slide picture in this is barely sports anime. The motion are horrible.

At the beginning this anime are quite good, but it's became horrible to watch.

A flightless duck that promised a flight

Warning: Spoilers
I love sports anime. They're fun, thrilling, and can even give me goosebumps if done right.

My first basketball anime was Kuroko no Basket, so that's the benchmark I'm going with.

The story starts off pretty well, showing us an enthusiastic protagonist who has potential. As we meet new characters, we don't really expect them to win, given that most have not played at all or played in a long time.

After the first match loss (practice with one of the top teams), we are introduced to a new character who, as they show, is a "genius" with amazing skills. After a bunch of drama, they play another practice match (another top team) and lose.

Now we are introduced to another character who has (again) not played in a long time.

Right around here, we expect that our protagonist's team is decent enough. Nope. They enter the inter-high, have a great showing against yet another top team (20+ points lead in the last quarter), and blow it, because, character development? Emotional tugging? Who knows.

Next, more drama, advisor quits, people distraught, distrust, etc etc. They get back, seemingly stronger, especially the "genius", who apparently went from team to team, beating the aces.

Finally, they face off yet another team that is said to be one of the top 3 or so. Start off evenly and then get clobbered. And scene. The season ends.

I'm sorry, but if you take 50 episodes (a few months in the anime) just to show the main team losing over and over again, why would anyone keep watching it? 50 episodes, and they couldn't find a coach in their prefect? There's no real development happening because they don't even have a proper coach or advisor who actually plays basketball. The coach/manager is a first-year girl who stopped playing basketball because she realized she wasn't good enough. There are no real tactical discussions happening during games to show us how/what can be done to improve their odds of winning.

It's perfectly understandable that a team as new as our main team would not win against top teams within months. Which is why I think that the writing is poor in the sense that top teams would not really want to play with no-name teams or that the new team itself would want to start off with lower-tier teams and move up.

Finally, looking at Kuroko, adding 13 or so episodes to Sora, and they finished their story altogether. Personally, I would not want to see long drama played out in sports anime because that's not why I came for.
