"I Know What You Did Last Summer", the new 'teen horror' TV series based on a novel by Lois Duncan and a repulsive 'slasher' exploitation feature film franchise, has been cut from the programming roster at Amazon Prime Video after only one season:

Another victim has been claimed in the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" franchise. However, instead of the latest teen magazine heartthrobs or social media-laden zoomers, Amazon has dropped the ax (or the hook?) on "I Know What You Did Last Summer" itself. The short-lived TV show, released on Amazon Prime, was a modern take on the 1973 novel by Lois Duncan that spawned the 1997 film.
According to Deadline, the new horror series from writer Sara Goodman and Og "I Know What You Did Last Summer" producers Neal H. Moritz and Erik Feig will not be receiving a second season....

I Know What You Did Last Summer is not getting an encore on Prime Video.
Deadline broke the news late Friday that the streaming service has canceled the YA horror series after just one season.
News of the cancellation is somewhat surprising.
The show garnered mixed reviews, but there was a decent amount of buzz, which typically translates to viewership.
However, the streaming service never releases raw viewership statistics, so really any show can be canceled at any time.
The good news for fans is that the central mystery was pretty much closed up at the end of I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1.
Written and executive produced by Sara Goodman, I Know What You Did Last Summer is based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel, which was also the basis of the iconic 1997 film.

Amazon Prime Video’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” television adaptation has been canceled after one season, Variety has confirmed.
The teen horror series, based on the 1973 novel of the same name that was also adapted into a film in 1997, follows a group of friends who are mercilessly stalked by a serial killer after they cover up a fatal car accident. The show stars Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Bill Heck, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck and Brooke Bloom.
The first four episodes of the eight-part series premiered on Oct. 15, with the rest of the show’s installments debuting on a weekly basis thereafter. The show received mixed reviews, with Variety‘s Latoya Ferguson calling it “an overlong story that an otherwise talented cast has to work hard to land.”

Exclusive: Prime Video has opted not to order a second season of I Know What You Did Last Summer, a modern take on the 1973 novel by Lois Duncan and the 1997 film adaptation.
The YA horror series, produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures TV, debuted Oct. 15 to mixed reviews with the first four episodes, followed by a weekly releases capped by the season finale on Nov. 12.
I Know What You Did Last Summer was part of Amazon Studios’ push in young adult programming. The streamer remains committed to the genre and has breakout The Wilds, which is returning for a second season, animated series Fairfax, which is in the middle of a two-season pickup, and the upcoming The Summer I Turned Pretty, a TV series adaptation of the YA novel series from Jenny Han, the author behind To All The Boys I Loved Before.

In a year of uncertainty, with the literal horror film about a seemingly unstoppable deadly virus happening outside our front doors, reconnecting with movies on streaming networks, going to virtual film festivals, and returning to the sacred sanctum of the movie theater was pure joy. Horror took new forms in 2021, with fearfully fantastic and dreadfully reality-driven stories. 2021 found new ways to approach recurring themes of isolation, desperation, and the fear of the unknown. Films about religion, urban legends, culture, society, ecology, demons, slashers, and even automotive sensuality brought intriguing visions to beautifully horrific life. This year was undeniably a unique experience for genre fans. This list is my favorite horror from 2021.

In this social media age, experiential events have become a crucial part of entertainment marketing plans. Instagram-friendly pop-ups had become common in recent years — Netflix turning a Baskin-Robbins location into the Scoops Ahoy ice cream parlor from “Stranger Things” or Amazon Prime Video taking over the Hollywood Athletic Club to promote its Emmy contenders, for example.
But then came the pandemic. And marketers were forced to quickly pivot to safe, socially distanced events like drive-in premieres and virtual events such as online watch parties. But as vaccination rates continue to rise, marketers are aiming to balance those digital experiences with more in-person encounters.
Prime Video, for example, plans to promote its new series “Harlem” at the historic Harlem Parish, a New York City church-turned-event space, starting Dec. 3 with festivities dubbed “Harlem Ever After.” For the event, which highlights Black female creators and entrepreneurs, Prime Video is turning the Parish...

Movies like King Kong paved the way to introduce a Hollywood character, the scream queen, a damsel in distress who yells for her life and, most often than not, is the one who survives after scrimmaging against a serial killer. Beautiful women screaming in terror has always intrigued audiences and has us rooting for their well-being. A variety of movie titles come to mind when thinking about Halloween classics, such as ‘Scream,’ ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer,’ ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street,’ and many more. Numerous actresses had their careers skyrocketed to fame thanks to the success of all these franchises. Those movies wouldn't have...

Is the killer cruel or vicious? They're downright evil based on their latest emotionally-heartbreaking attacks.
We said goodbye to two more characters on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 6.
One was a high possibility, but the other was a bittersweet end to their sad story. If only we had more time with them before they bit the dust.
"Least You Had A Spare" could best be described as a "ticking clock" chapter. There wasn't an official countdown, but we viewers felt the dread as each minute wasted meant that Riley was closer to death.
Everything surrounding the characters and the story focused on them trying to locate their missing friend. So, the emotional takeaway hinged on if Riley lived or died at the end.
These episodes are great for pulling on the emotional heartstrings and adding lots of tension. We want to root for the group to...

And we thought our high school experience was scary. From murder mysteries to teen noirs, this Halloween is the perfect time to revisit our adolescence thanks to the premieres of two new book adaptations: Peacock's One of Us Is Lying and Amazon Prime Video's I Know What You Did Last Summer. (Think Big Little Lies: The Early Years.) One of Us Is Lying premiered on the NBCUniversal streaming platform Oct. 7, and its cast exclusively broke down the differences between the bloody Breakfast Club-inspired series and its murder mystery-book roots, based on Karen M. McManus' 2017 best-selling novel of the same name. "Essentially, the characters...

After Alison (Madison Iseman) learns her twin sister Lennon (also Iseman) slept with the guy she has been in love with for years in the premiere episode of Amazon Prime Video’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” she just wants to leave their graduation party. Alison is emotionally distraught when she drives away, but also distracted by her sisters’ friends, who pile into the car, drunk and high. She may not have meant to hit something on a dark road, but when she gets out of the car and sees it is her sister, she agrees to dump the body — and then steals her identity and lives for the next year as Lennon.

The Amazon Original YA horror series “I Know What You Did Last Summer” premiered on Wednesday night with an outdoor screening at The Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. Based on the iconic 1997 slasher movie which was adapted from Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel and starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ryan Phillippe, the eight-episode series maintains the same initial set-up as its source material.
The series follows a group of friends who are bound together after they cover up a tragic accident that occurred on the night of their high school graduation. One year later, they find themselves targeted by a violent stalker who has discovered their dark secret.
Series star Madison Iseman told Variety that she was already a big fan of the cult classic. “I’ve always loved any kind of scary movie, especially the 90s slasher,” Iseman said. “It’s like the best...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched the first four episodes of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
“I Know What You Did Last Summer” as a franchise has its roots in Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel about a group of teenagers who hit someone with a car, cover it up and then are stalked and murdered for the secret one year later. But it rose to popularity with a new generation in 1997 when Jennifer Love Hewitt starred in a series of film adaptations. Nearly a quarter-century later, the story has been adapted once again, this time as a dramatic television series for Amazon Prime Video, with Madison Iseman as the new face of the franchise.
Iseman stars as twins Alison and Lennon in the new series — recent high school graduates who really only have the same face in common.

With the upcoming release of another “Scream” movie and nostalgic IP becoming the de facto lay of the land, there are two schools of thought when it comes to reviving a franchise: Keep the original intent and make fun, or go completely out of left field and do something different. In the case of Amazon Prime Video’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the new serialized version retains little save for the name of the 1997 feature (itself based on Lois Duncan’s novel of the same name) and the generalized plot point that a death takes place. In lieu of a return to urban legend frights, audiences get the streaming equivalent of “Euphoria,” where our murder-mystery comes with a healthy, vaguely pornographic, dose of teenage sex and drugs.

The timing is ripe for an all-new version of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” to be revived: The 1997 film starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Ryan Philippe, and Sarah Michelle Gellar was a contemporary piece with the original Neve Campbell-led “Scream,” which is soon returning with a much-hyped new sequel-slash-reboot movie, and slasher pop culture is now at a perfect millennial nostalgia touchpoint. However, unlike January’s upcoming “Scream,” Amazon’s eight-episode “I Know What You Did Last Summer” series isn’t also a continuation of the original series (including the 1998 sequel “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer”), despite the recent passing of the torch from the original cast. Instead, writer and executive producer Sara Goodman has created a whole other loose adaptation of the 1973 Lois Duncan novel of the same name.

Before it was transformed into a slasher story in its 1997 big-screen adaptation, Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel I Know What You Did Last Summer was more of a morality thriller.

“The Voice” entered the next stage of the competition, the battles, during Monday’s all-new episode. Per tradition, each coach brought along a superstar advisor to help mentor their aspiring artists. They were: Jason Aldean for Team Kelly Clarkson, Camila Cabello for Team John Legend, Kristin Chenoweth for Team Ariana Grande and Dierks Bentley for Team Blake Shelton. In this round, the coaches choose the pairings and the songs, and they also name the winner of each battle. The losing artist can then be “stolen” by a rival coach or “saved” by their own coach. So how did the first set of battles play out?

The cast of Amazon’s upcoming horror series I Know What you Did Last Summer got a pleasant surprise during the series’ New York Comic Con panel Friday as the stars of the original 1997 film dropped by for some quick “fan questions.”
While appearances by Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Jennifer Love Hewitt were pleasant surprises for the Nycc audience, their words of encouragement and excitement meant more for the talent and creative team of the upcoming show.
“It feels like they’ve given us their blessing; that’s hugely meaningful to me and to all of us,” said showrunner Sarah Goodman. “The last thing we want to do is undermine what they’ve created. We moved to the next generation with full respect to the movie and to the actors that are in it.”
Set to debut October 15, the YA horror series is a modern take on the 1997 slasher.

There are infinite anecdotes about what happened to our best-laid plans when the coronavirus hit. But in the context of Hollywood, one must stop and appreciate the unique pain of Erik Feig — a veteran film executive whose rogue production and financing company Picturestart was only months into its infancy when the global shutdown arrived.
Funded by a consortium of top private and strategic investors, former Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Feig’s vision was to serve distinct voices with a uniquely pliable infrastructure. A shop that could fully or partially finance and produce indie-to-mid-budget films without the deep pockets of streaming or tie-ups with the studios. One that could foster talent, cross it over into new mediums and offer full marketing services. Covid-19 scrambled those ambitions.

Cruel Intentions might get its time to shine on the small screen after all.
Almost five years after NBC shelved its planned sequel series, it has been announced that a new take on the original movie is in the works at IMDb TV.

It revolves around two step-siblings who will do anything to stay on top.
In this iteration, they want to stay on top of the Greek life hierarchy at an elite Washington, D.C. college.
After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Panhellenic system, they’ll do whatever’s necessary to preserve their power and reputations — even seduce the daughter of the vice president of the United States.
