Kira&Gin is the most entertaining and enthralling cinematic experience in the history of Egyptian filmmaking. The writer Ahmed Mourad and the filmmaker Marwan Hamed are back with their new breakout Kira & Gin. The movie is about a group of Egyptian resistance fighters against the British occupation. The portrayal of this period in Egyptian history is mind-blowing, represented in location, building, cars , clothes even weapons.
The creators of the movie brings to life on screen action, heroism, hardship of the occupation and the beauty of classic Egypt. The movie opens with extraordinary scene of the famous Denshawai incident, and takes us through so many other unconventional sets. The cinematography standout and different nationalities ( British, Egyptian) and different generations of actors brings freshness to the screen. Characters are vivid and various and most of actors nailed it.
Though the film is 3 hours, the intensity of events and complexity of the story, make you can't get enough of it.

3 hours of creativity, great story, high professional level of photography, acting, action, drama, comedy and romance. I am so proud that we reached this level in our films. I think it will be a motivation to the cinema makers to make more films at the same level of professionality.

I've never seen a 3 hour long historical movie, that has made laugh and cry at the same time. I fell in love with each character, the music, the dialogue and the shots were out of this world. This movie shows love, drama, action, history and friendship. I've enjoyed these 3 hours to the max.

I don't agree with people saying the movie was boring ... it's not only the best " Egyptian movie " I have ever seen..But also it's the best movie I've seen in the last 5 years so far!!
Am so surprised because I really hate the types of movies that talks about history , biography and countries policies. But that movie was different I loved it so much and I don't have any problem watching it more than twice!

Can't believe I saw this level of action and drama in an Egyptian film. I enjoyed the novel so much, yet the movie is different. Its true the movie is long but not boring at all. The directing is extraordinary , sets , clothes. Just perfect.

The 1919 novel is much stronger than the movie. Seriously. The novel was not limited to the resistance. The narrator contains many very nice details, and there are characters who are not even present in the movie, like ward . Its parts were a masterpiece, Saad Zaghloul's house and many details in this time It was really nice. I don't know why the movie was limited to The resistance, and It had very clear technical problems, as the sound was very brutal. The music wasn't used right at all, and at times annoying, although the music is a masterpiece, as usual, Hisham Nazih. Regardless of all this, I can't say the movie is bad, but seriously, it could have been something much stronger.

I have read the novel by Ahmed Mourad many years ago, never imagined it would come to life as Marwan Hamws and Mourad have done in this amazing masterpiece which made me laugh and cry
Loved it and enjoyed every moment and so did my 21 years old daughter and 70 years old mom ..
3 hours of shear pleasure ..
The most amazing Arabi film I have ever watched.

The movie is amazing. I'm so proud that I saw an Egyptian movie is up to this standard. Every single scene is dazzling. I fell in love with all characters and didn't feel that the movie is long. Please go watch it.

This movie is historically inaccurate, acting is a bit subpar, all the foreign actors feel like they are reading their lines off a paper, and the pacing is everywhere.
Not to mention the excessive drinking and the extra romance that is forced on every character, which serves as an insult to the real heroes of the resistance.

So i went and saw this movie the other day without any expectations .But i can assure you ITS AMAZING!
Once the film started rolling i found myself lost in time , Gripped by the story , The Cinema , The music and the wonderful Cast.
Its a thrilling ride that u'd finish only to want more of the same people ..i highly urge you to go watch it ASAP.

A MUST WATCH. Two hours of pure entertainment. The film depicts the hidden stories behind 1919 revolution in a way that was never portrayed before, taking historical Action films to a whole new level. The acting, the directing, the dialogue, the cinematography, Costumes, music.. everything is just so beautifully done. Simply a must watch.

A blockbuster movie can compete with any international movie, didn't feel any boredom for the entire 3 hrs and enjoyed every bit of it, as the movie crew took me in a journey into an era never been displayed by this accuracy and dedication before. The thriller in every shoot, the script, and the ingenuity of the actors even in small roles leaded by a very uniquely skilled director made me believe that we can do anything if we had a good supporting production. The script based on a novel (1919) by the talented writer Ahmed Mourad and based on true characters shows how Egyptians fought for there country's freedom against British colonialism, how they sacrificed everything just to live with dignity in a free country. The dialogue, and the revolution scenes made me so emotional and was well directed and the romance line was very Important to get more involved with the characters. The entire movie left me overwhelmed by the entertainment dose and I do believe that this creativity level won't be the last.

What an experience. This film is one of a kind, one that is not original in any way and yet one that a wide variety of audience-I think- must watch.
I have never seen a film with such a strong first act worsen this much by the time it had reached the ending. It saddens me that the director, Marawan Hamed did not follow his instinct, and gave it what may would have stood as his own style but rather borrowed techniques from well known directors like Christopher Nolan.
It was obvious the multiple timed-situations occurring parallel to one another were not of his own and the problem with that, Nolan himself struggles with his very own signature technique. It's risky and it would have NOT added that much to the experience of the film, especially not a 3 hour one. It was cliche and it tremendously ruined the hook it has worked so hard on building scene upon the other.
One more fatal mistake was the non-linear storytelling. I am usually not a fan of stories such as this one, the ones like 'once upon a time' and then they throw in multiple stories with huge timegaps inbetween but this had actually changed my mind at around the 80 minute mark. Little did I know, they messed it up, and when I say messed it up, I mean like a complete turnover to something really bad.
It was all over the place with the narrator explaining what has happened over the timegaps, it lost its consistency and I was genuinely lost over what was happening at the moment. It was no longer a story just scenes loosely connected together. It was very well put together and yet you can tell it was very disconnected.
All of this does not disprove the fact that the first half had me on the edge of my seat, I have been tearing up and I could sense the tension in the theatre. It was a beautifully well put together cinematic experience in terms of everything. The soundtracks were very immersive, the cinematography was pretty okay, it was not methodically original but I could tell they were really trying their best.
I was so impressed to the extent I had planned to take notes throughout the movie and half an hour in I decided I was not going to take out either my phone or notebook and will just enjoy the movie for what it is. Towards the end of the movie, and I kid you not, I burst out laughing in the middle of the theater over what was supposed to make me emotional for the cliche, cheesy and the predictable ending that it was.
The acting was on point although I don't think any of them was really taken out of their comfort zone to begin with. It's like each of them follows their own arc in every single movie and it makes the story more predictable. I feel like it wouldn't be a bad idea to take someone out of their comfort zone to come up with something original. Different risks will have to be taken if the duo who made these several movie will want to achieve something great in the future. They will have to work on the psychological aspects of the characters if they ever want to go further. Many of the characters' actions in the last act did not make sense; I especially understand that characters can be contradictory and can carry out unexplainable actions but for them to do, this possibility has to be well developed to begin with. People can change whatever beliefs they've had for 50 years but we have to be shown that on the screen. We can't just deduce that. Unexpectedness has to be well developed for it to be as shocking as the filmmakers intend it to be.
In the end, this was in no way boring, it was a well out together film, inconsistent in pacing having many well directed action scenes throughout. It addresses classism, rural misogyny and some more social issues although not directly. It made me feel like I belonged to the Egyptians, it made me hold hatred I never knew I could contain towards the Brits-Well, at least in the first half of it- and it was exactly the experience I was looking for.
It's not a masterpiece but it's definitely worth the watch.

The film tells a true story that actually happened, so I think that it is one of the best and most interesting films, and the decoration of the time period is very appropriate in an indescribable way, and the entire staff is more than wonderful, even in the small details.. For us as Egyptians, these are things we do not see much in the cinema due to Because of the lack of resources, whether financial or resources for decorations, etc., so I recommend you to watch it, and there are also no tempting or exciting scenes in it, and this is a wonderful thing because most, if not all, films have become attracting the viewer through some inappropriate scenes for those without the 18 years .. I am happy with this novel and its embodiment in a movie, and I hope to always see a cinema devoid of exciting scenes.

I usually get bored in long movies and sometimes even lose interest but this one is really amazing that i didnt even look in my watch to see the time and didn't notice it was almost 3 hours that passed.
I loved every second in this movie especially am a big fan of the stars karim abdel aziz, ahmed ezz and hend sabry.
Music soundtrack is just amazing coz it was done by the one and only hisham nazih The director Marwan Hamed of course had a huge reason for how the movie came.
It is not a waste of time and money as some people said.

An exquisite movie! You won't catch a false note anywhere! Truly entertaining!
What I loved the most was that even though the movie has two male leading characters, it didn't overshadow the female element in the movie, quite the contrary, the strength of the female characters was quite splendid the whole time, showcasing the part they played in the resistance.
