Sex & Nudity

  • In one of the episodes, there are several statues of nude women covered by body paint. All nudity is obscured by paint and cannot be seen.
  • There is a brief mention of necrophilia, nothing overly explicit.
  • A man and woman are thrown out of a vehicle taped with a blind mask and in their underwear .
  • Male buttocks nudity is briefly shown.

Violence & Gore

  • Bodies are shown hanging for all the contenders to see.
  • Organs are removed from some dead bodies. Shots showing eyeballs, a heart and other organs are clearly visible, though only for a few seconds.
  • Every episode contains bloody shooting, sometimes at a point blank range. Frequent fighting, sometimes with weapons such as small knives or metal bars. The characters cannot clean themselves up after these fights or games, so any blood on their faces or clothing remains there.
  • A man is stabbed to death on a bridge, blood is seen and the scene goes on for quite some time. The man's killer then jumps off of the bridge into the water below.
  • A character's leg is bitten and has a chunk of flesh torn off. The bloody flesh is then spat back out.
  • A character is impaled through the hand with a knife. He pulls it out, causing him to scream and bleed.
  • There is very intense violence, gore and bloodshed throughout the series. People are shot in the head, stabbed and killed. You can see blood on the ground spilling, dead bodies etc.
  • Most of the violence in this show is just people being shot with some blood shown.

  • EPISODE 1(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:8,5/10) At the end of the episode people who lost the first game are brutally shot and we see everything followed with explicit bloody sprays, also in slow motion. A man is chased by other men he owes money to and is punched in nose and has to use his blood print to sign a paper, resulting in blood, a woman is beaten, dozens to hundreds of people shot in the Green Light Red Light game
  • EPISODE 2(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:7,5/10) a man in a car gets stabbed in the leg, back and chest and rips the blade off, killing him. A man had his hand crushed in a machine, resulting in a bloody scene.A woman splashes a coffee pot on a man's face and then puts a knife near his throat as a threat while putting his head bended backwards. The stabbing scene has a medium quantity of blood
  • EPISODE 3(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE7,5/10)People who lost the game are shot and a medium quantity of blood sprays, milder compared to green light, red light. A man is shot in the head and we see the blood trail; disturbing and his corpse comes down a slide, there is a honeycomb where numerous people are executed if they crack a single bit of the shape. A kid is held hostage, a man commits suicide and a group of late people are killed by the firing squad.
  • EPISODE 4(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:10/10) Smothering,, people fall to death in tug of war, get stabbed many times/strangled, kicked and beaten to death by another man in a fight for food, a dissection with a eyeball torn off a corpse and put in a bag organs are seen, pole beatings. Lights out scene has strobe effects, so the details are hard to be seen and many people are beaten to death as a result. Woman killed while banging for help.
  • EPISODE 5(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:8/10) Two men are shot in the head, blood is seen and organs are seen during the cirurgy process and is put to a bag of liquid. It can be gross to some people, win of tug of war and everyone falls to their death. A man has his head beaten by an object in a flashback so as another man while on strike and a few other people by officers. Fight/chase scene occurs and it includes a stabbing scene, but not bloody because the neck region is covered by the soldier's uniform
  • EP 6(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE 7/10) The less violent episode of the show, but the saddest. People get killed by masked soldiers and a medium quantity of blood sprays, milder than the predecessor episodes.
  • EPISODE 7(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:8/10)No shooting but it contains gore. Bodies can be seen later in the ground and a player's brain is leaking from the skull and we never see the impact of the fallen bodies, people have to step on glass and guess which tile to step on otherwise if they step on the wrong one, they fall to the ground and crash dead. Some are pushed and shoved off and two die, a man squeezes a man's testicles and points a gun.
  • EPISODE 8(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:8/10)Injuries are seen and we see a lot of blood. 2 moments of shooting in the entire episode, a woman takes out a piece of glass from her gut, two men shot themselves in a conflict and there's a implied stabbing scene
  • EPISODE 9(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:8,5/10) All the violence occurs in the beggining of the episode and it includes brutal stabbing, biting, kicking and punching. A man is stabbed in the hand and there is a lot of brutal stuff

  • Despite its violent nature, the violence in this show is actually more centred in shootings
  • In this show, when players are eliminated, they are placed in present like coffins and cremated, in one episode a man still alive had the coffin nailed immediately.
  • LEVEL OF VIOLENCE AND GORE:9/10Intense violence is shown in explicit details. Prolonged scenes of organ harvesting, stabbing, shooting and sadistic attitudes. The tv show's violence occurs mostly in a game show.

Profanity

  • A lot of salty language (including 16 uses the f-word) like "shit," "bitch," "dickhead," "hell," "damn," "asshole," and more.
  • Based off English subtitles with the original Korean audio, profanity also includes countless religious exclamations, usually god damn, except when one character prays to God a lot.
  • Korean profanities toned down in the English subtitle

  • A use of American profanities such as scumbag, fucker, fucking, motherfucker, fucked, son of a bitch, goddamn said in English by VIP's in Episode 7 and one use of fucking in Episode 8 said in english

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Man smoking outside gas station. Other scenes depict smoking and drinking in various locations.
  • Player 212 smuggles in some cigarettes and smokes in a bathroom stall.
  • In the VIP lounge watching a game, the 6 masked VIPs dressed in luxurious robe with nothing underneath all are smoking cigars and drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This show can be frightening and intense for some viewers. It shows people being killed as well as screaming/pleading for their lives.
  • This series is Very shocking, heavy, cynical, ambiguous, and mind-blowing throughout. It is extremely strong, gritty, disturbing and intense, both visually and story-wise, because of the amount of violence where people have to play games to support their financial self from ruin, contestants are brutally executed and some players kill others for their own lives using selfishness. Some are even betrayed, hunted, held hostage, some are beaten without care and dignity and chased try to strive to live while their reward for the luckiest contains a fortune. This is very disturbing, upsetting, and thought-provoking.
  • Killings in some games are done by a point blank execution, can get a bit bloody and disturbing.
  • A man gets his hand crushed in an open piece of machinery. He screams in pain and blood is seen coming out of his hand stump. Very graphic but only shown for a second.
  • It becomes very clear that you have to be selfish in order to win the games, which leads to some very shocking and heartbreaking moments which can deeply affect the audience.
  • In an episode a fight breaks out, blood and severe flashing lights.
  • Innocent kids games become a suspenseful life or death situation
  • The general theme in this show depicts the dark reality of financial distress and the fact that people would do anything for money.
  • The mask worn by the front man may be creepy.
  • Many characters die bloody and gruesome deaths. Very disturbing.
  • In most episodes, there are dead people littered on the ground with bloody injuries. Blood splatters are everywhere. Dead contestants are burned in furnaces. The Pink Soldiers operate on dead contestants and remove body parts which is really disturbing and gross. Dead people are shown hanging from various places. The main characters mother dies offscreen and he is shown wailing over her corpse.
  • This is very dark and intense show as they trying to win the money with dangerous game situations.
  • EPISODE 1(IMPACT:8/10) The deaths may be disturbing for some viewers. The calming song playing can be upsetting
  • EPISODE 2(IMPACT:7/10) The machine scene and the stabbing scene may be unexpected by some viewers

  • Squid Game isn't for everyone under 21! It has upsetting and distressing scene!

Sex & Nudity

  • A VIP asks a worker to pleasure him. The VIP takes his clothes off and you can see him nude, but back only, no frontal nudity. He then grabs the worker's head and makes him do oral, but the worker stops it by punching him in the nuts.
  • Jun-ho confronts a pink soldier asking if a dead body is his brother. The soldier tells him no and proves the body was a woman by explaining that he and other soldiers took turns "doing" her after she died.

Violence & Gore

  • The first episode towards the end the first game is played. People are shot in the head and body, accompanied by brief blood spurts. There aren't any limbs lost.
  • A man struggles with another man for an envelope. As they struggle, the other man shoves him and the man grabs on a machine, the machine then crushes his fingers and blood can be spurting out everywhere. Shown extremely quickly.
  • A mass riot breaks out during the night, many people are brutally killed with sharp objects, strangled, suffocated or murdered with metal bars. (Very Brief)
  • A scene plays with a man carrying an eyeball of a deceased body. The deceased's intestinal organs are shown briefly.
  • A character has a large shard of glass stuck from her abdomen. Lots of blood shown on hands, sink and surroundings as she attempts to remove it and clean herself up.
  • There is a player who is a trained doctor, and performs surgery. He can be seen covered in blood during these scenes, with a bloody apron on, blood on his face and blood and guts covering his hands.
  • One of the games involves falling from a great height. Players that die during this challenge can be seen dead on the floor afterwards. Lots of blood on the floor surrounding their bodies, along with brief shots of split skulls leaking brains, and otherwise bloody and crushed bodies.
  • Organ harvesting is practiced by several characters.
  • A man loses his wife in marbles and hangs himself. It is shown briefly, very sad
  • Following an episode regarding a deadly game of tug of war, a shot of someone's hand reveals it to be blistered from the rope.
  • the blood is obviously fake but there is a big amount of it especially when the body parts are being harvested
  • Ali gets into a fight with his boss because he didn't get paid by his boss for 6 months, which then his boss hits him to release his hands on the money envelope, and later the boss's hand gets crushed by a machine and leads to a severe injury. S1 Ep 2

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • One of the games played is tug of war, the losing teams fall to their death.
  • Participants agree to play games without realising they will be deadly.
  • Players are lured unknowingly into killing people they like and have bonded with.
  • A player commits suicide by hanging.
  • People die falling from height.
  • In one of the episodes, players kill each other on a dark, enclosed stage with strobe lights.
  • Jang Deok-Su is basically a stereotypical tough gangster type dude, who stops at nothing to get his way. He beats many people dead.
  • Sympathetic characters die tragically.
  • Oh Il-Nam (old man) is at first a sweet old man who is implied to die at the end of an episode, but he is later revealed to have not actually been shot and is revealed to be the creator and main antagonist of Squid Game. Very distressing to see and will upset people who liked him as a character.
  • The final player who won the final squid game wails over his friend's death and was now in a state of depression, this could be hard to see for viewers who loved him since he was the main protagonist
