I love the series because is so imaginative, engaging and open minded, but this episode was disappointing.
Rob Wellens described himself as "socially awkward" and a "dork" even though he was able to give public speeches, call a girl to drink a coffee and so on. He didn't seem shy to me, and even if he was, this is no excuse to call someone a dork (which means idiot).
Yes, he called himself that, but that is just a reflection of how some view nerds and geeks.
Not every nerd is shy and being an introvert is different than being shy.
Such traits should be embraced and respected, unless one suffers from really crippling shyness. But there isn't a treatment to make every person behaves exactly the same, and that is a good thing.
Always associating being timid with being an intelectual is really too cliché.
Also, in fiction mistakes committed by such types of characters are usually magnified as their errors were more serious. In real life all people commit mistakes, everyone acts silly sometimes.
How about the "socially awkward" term? It's just dumb. You know what socially awkward really is? People who make racist remarks. Men who make sexist comments. Religious bigots and their narrow mindedness. Not a kind and intelligent person as Rob Wellens.
That character is smart, has a heart of gold and is original. What is not to love? He is not a dork, he is awesome!
