“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” currently in production on its third season, has been renewed by Paramount+ for Season 4. Meanwhile, “Star Trek: Lower Decks,” the first animated “Star Trek” comedy, will conclude its run on the streamer with its fifth season, which will debut in the fall.
“Strange New Worlds” — set in the years when Capt. Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) commanded the USS Enterprise, and featuring younger versions of several legacy characters, including Spock (Ethan Peck), Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding) and Kirk (Paul Wesley) — has been a fan favorite since it premiered on Paramount+ in 2022. Season 2 of the series, which included a musical episode and a crossover episode with “Lower Decks,” made Nielsen’s chart of the 10 most-watched streaming original series over multiple weeks.
“On behalf of the cast and crew of ‘Strange New Worlds,’ we are thrilled and grateful to continue our voyages together,” said executive producers and showrunners...

“I can’t believe I get to play the captain of the Enterprise.”
Anson Mount is sitting across from me on one of the Toronto soundstages for the Paramount+ series “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” which is set in the years when his character, Capt. Christopher Pike, led the legendary Federation starship with a young Spock and Uhura. We’re speaking on the sleek Enterprise bridge, and Mount is recounting the out-of-body experience he had the first time he sat in the iconic captain’s chair. “I had this immediate flashback to playing ‘Star Trek’ as a kid,” he says. “I don’t think a day goes by where I don’t at some point stop and think to myself, ‘I’m on fucking “Star Trek.”’”
“Strange New Worlds” is the 12th “Star Trek” TV show since the original series debuted on NBC in 1966, introducing Gene Roddenberry’s vision of a hopeful future for humanity.

Filming has officially begun on Star Trek: Section 31, a straight-to-Paramount+ movie starring Michelle Yeoh and other actors.
Some five years after it was initially announced, Star Trek: Section 31 has officially gone into production, with Michelle Yeo set to reprise the role of Terran emperor Philippa Georgiou. It’s a role Yeoh first brought to the screen in the first season of Star Trek: Discovery – in fact, Star Trek: Section 31 was originally envisioned as a TV show before the decision was made to retool it as a straight-to-streaming movie.
Deadline reports that lots of other familiar-name actors are joining Yeoh as filming gets underway. Among them you’ll find Power’s Omari Hardwick, Ted Lasso's Sam Richardson, Pacific Rim's Robert Kazinsky, and Hannibal’s Kacey Rahl.
The film will explore the titular Section 31 – a kind of sci-fi covert ops outfit that carries out ethically questionable missions...

During, the Star Trek Universe Panel at New York Comic Con, Scott Mescudi, better known by his stage name Kid Cudi, wowed “Star Trek” fans in a surprise appearance to a packed room discussing his exclusive collaboration as part of “Star Trek’s” all-new “Boldly Be” campaign.
The panel was moderated by Josh Horowitz, best known for his work as a correspondent for MTV News and as a host of the podcast, Happy Sad Confused. Horowitz kicked off the panel by welcoming the crowd and introducing Executive Producer and the person at the helm for the Star Trek franchise, Alex Kurtzman, who debuted never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage of Kid Cudi’s collaboration with the “Star Trek” universe.

Six seasons and a movie! Before Community made that phrase its mantra, it belonged to Star Trek… sorta. The release of The Motion Picture vindicated fans of The Original Series, who only grew in number after the show’s cancellation after three seasons in 1969. So successful were those films that the Star Trek: The Next Generation films were a foregone conclusion, with Star Trek: Generations going into production before the seventh and final season finished airing.
Outside of Tos and Tng, no other Trek series has gone onto the big screen, and Star Trek: Prodigy seems the least likely to break that streak. After all, the series was reportedly canceled and was ignominiously removed from Paramount+, the so-called “Home of Star Trek.” And yet, the show’s producers told attendees at Star Trek: Las Vegas that hope is not gone for the plucky animated series.

There are times when watching a movie kind of leaves it open for mockery on a level that doesn’t feel fair since the people making the movie are doing their best and might not appreciate the sentiment that goes along with each moment that’s pointed out as nonsense. But with Hideout, it kind of feels warranted since even if the cast were doing their absolute best, this movie comes off as something that’s, well, absolute nonsense. The main premise is that a group of robbers bungle a robbery, which is kind of expected in some ways, and have to find

Exclusive: CBS has set up a writers room for drama The Great Game, produced by CBS Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s studio-based Secret Hideout. It will be led by the project’s co-writers/executive producers John Hlavin (The Man Who Fell to Earth) and Matthew Newman (Chicago Pd) with the goal of generating multiple scripts for a potential straight-to-series order.
The Great Game, inspired by an unpublished novel of the same name by Newman, is the second CBS drama project from the 2021-22 development cycle that the network has put on a script-to-series path by commissioning a writers room; it joins Hsi: Puerto Rico. I hear the purpose of the model is to find dramas that can bypass the pilot stage and go to series which can be produced cost-effectively.
Like its counterparts, CBS has been exploring alternatives to the traditional broadcast development model, a process that was accelerated by the pandemic.

It seems that Star Trek could be another universe with a series set in college (following The Boys one ordered to series and the Arrowverse one in the works). Paramount+ has a new series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, in the works from CBS Studios and Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Deadline reports. It would be “set among the college of cadets mentored for leadership roles in the United Federation of Planets space force.” This news comes after Star Trek: Discovery‘s Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman) left the crew to teach at the Starfleet Academy after leading a training exercise that went wrong earlier this season (pictured above). But it should be noted that no details have been revealed as to when this new potential series would take place, and Discovery is now in the future. As for another Star Trek series in the works at Paramount+, the Section 31 series with...
