[7.5] The seed that became a forest
cjonesas18 August 2021
Any production you find Ida Engvoll in, you can be sure to be in for a memorable experience. This actress is so amazing, so unpredictable and of course, so shiny beautiful with her innocence-mimicking eyes that in any "entertainment" she goes, she wreaks havoc in such a marvelous, captivating way and Love & Anarchy is no exception.

A series full of immersive experience, contemplation with or without coffee or in the spa. A show full of deep freeing messages. Not for everyone, sure, but the little circle of people that like it make up for the missing ones.

Watch it, praise Ida Engvoll for existing and being such a great weird actress, illuminating us with her unique aura and dazzling smile.

Well-written, funny and dramatic romantic comedy touching on deeper issues
annabd-0184023 June 2022
Although I would probably classify this series as a romantic comedy, it is not what you would typically expect from one. While one of the driving plot themes is the relationship between Sophie and Max, the series examines (at times humorously, and at others dramatically, but always with sensitivity) issues like identity and being true to yourself, mental illness, family, progress and diversity, consumerism, and others. I enjoy so much watching it, ang going from laughter to crying. Another theme that pops up frequently is 'political correctness' which is often examined humorously but no 'sides are taken' so to speak. In my view it addresses relatively deep issues in a smart but fun way, while still having the suspense of a romantic comedy. Plus, I like the documentary-like camera work, I think it fits the show well.

Great story, very good acting, you won't be disappointed

Acting quality you don't see in American shows. Beautifully written and because of the acting you are carried away with the story. I binged the 2 seasons in two days and loved every minute of it.

Fun and quirky, surprisingly real at the end
shane118112 November 2020
This had me from the first moment to the ending credits. I binged the whole first season in four hours and loved it! For those on the fence, it reminded me a little of the Netflix dramedy Love written by Judd Apatow. The main actress in that in particular show had similar mannerisms to this female lead ... The Mindy Project would be another show this is slightly similar to, though Mindy was single of course, and a doctor. I just mean the type of comedy. I didn't think the show took itself too seriously.

I thought the casting was great. Could totally see these two flirting with one another at the office ... and beyond. Someone commented they thought the female lead didn't seem like a Mom, but she's only 34/35 so I just figured she settled down early and had the older girl right out of college. Then went back to B school (like her husband said to a friend later in the series). That tracks. Her husband looked way older like in his late 40s so I thought it was interesting that there's a decade between them, and also a decade the other way between her and the IT guy (who we know likes older women because you see him come onto and bone two different 30ish girls in the very beginning of the series).

I was surprised how real it got in the last couple episodes. I'd happily watch a second season of this! I think they left it at a point where the story could continue for sure.

For the Americans reading this: this has lots of sex and full frontal nudity. Didn't bother me one bit, in fact I found it refreshing. Isn't it depressing that here in the States we have no issues with grotesque and glorified violence (Hannibal?), but shriek at the site of a pube. It's bizarre and probably has something to do with all the school mass shootings we have ... the Swedes have a way healthier attitude toward sex.

Scandi Rom Com...
lewilewis19976 November 2020
Being Scandinavian everything and everyone has style. Outfits that are supposedly thrown on are meticulous in their colour coordination. The furniture and décor is always tasteful, and everyone has money, even the IT guy sharing a Hispster influenced 'hovel', (yup, lots of bare chip board, just like a trendy Shoreditch café). The sound track is 'cheesy Indie pop' that 15 year olds will love, yet is still a step above the better Eurovision entries.

But once you get past the clichés and the 'Visit Sweden Because We're Cool' tourist ad' this is a smart and witty tragi comedy. There's a sense of self discovery that begins with a dare and snowballs. The characters get fleshed out, even bit players, so that we get to know that everyone deep down is not as happy as they could be.

We're shown that women can like porn too, that the famous Swedish egalitarian attitude to parenting and society isn't all it's made out to be, that some of the men and women can be real selfish a-holes and a barrier to happiness.

I haven't finished, I'm halfway through ep' 7. I'm desperate for the main characters to work it out and find happiness, but it will be messy, people will get hurt.

I am a middle aged man that used to scorn this kind of thing as being too 'fluffy' and for sad, divorced women with a taste for mid day cocktails. I'm glad I'm all grown up now otherwise I would have missed this. I think ep 8 is going to make me cry, just a little, but I hope so.

Couldn't love it more
pennyjune25 June 2022
I finished the two seasons that were available and wanted to go back and watch it all over again. Loved the two lead characters, whose chemistry was very believable. Clever, funny and heartbreaking all at once. Sometimes it's challenging with subtitles, and especially while watching comedies, since so much depends on facial expressions, but I didn't mind occasionally rewinding. Best series I've watched this year by far.

Unique, provocative, challenging, romantic and crazy chemistry!
littlemisschocolate8 November 2020
I almost watched the entire series in one day, so so so good. The chemistry between the 2 actors was absolutely crazy! The topic is for sure provocative and sensitive but I really liked the way it was presented.

Recommend it 100%, you get some really nice views of Stockholm and there are some quite funny parts as well.

Loved it!

Like a breath of fresh air
blebbe4 October 2021
I really liked this show. It was super entertaining and just overall very charming and likeable. Very binge worthy and like a breath of fresh air. The second season was obviously not as good as the first season, but it was better than expected. I feel like the ending of season one didn't leave much room for continuation, but somehow season two kind of managed to still keep the quality. I will say that I would have wanted to see more of the main character's relationship more in season two. All in all, it wasn't anything super special, but I liked it nonetheless.

Charming and seductive!
guypop-994-45919627 June 2022
A spirit of nonsense is blowing in the series and the players are wonderful and at the same time also vulnerable. It has a special charm with a pleasant and elegant Swedish scent. In short, highly recommended! The second season meets all expectations and hopes for more seasons!

Another series praising betrayal as something good and fun
ultra-taya22 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Another series praising betrayal as something good and fun. It has a nice plot and is enjoyable, but why couldn't the authors just keep the challenges without betrayal? I don't like this kind of series. If you are not happy in your marriage, then divorce and move on. It could be more interesting if Sophie and Max had a subtle interest in each other but would not cross the border. The tension between them would be much more intense.

Entertaining but the camera work?!
zokinus_16 June 2022
The show itself is alright. It's entertaining, easy to watch and kept me hooked both seasons which is a good thing.

Now what distracted me especially in season 2 was the camera work - what the hell was that zooming in/out all the damn time? This is not The Office. I'm not really one to pay attention to these kind of things but i just couldn't ignore it cause it didn't really fit the "vibe" of the show imo.

Love & Anarchy soft

Watching this program I am surprised at this lame attempt at comedy. Very lightweight not really engaging. The wonderful reviews here are way over the top and exaggerated besides.

The only two things thats wrong...
annawalfridson19 June 2022
Is that the episodes is so short and that its only 8 episodes every season. Every season takes 1-2 days to finish.

Love the actors, the story and the deep meaning behind every line. Please make more seasons, I want to live at that publish company.

Reine Brynolfsson is someone I just want to hug. He is so warm and funny. And they all complete eachother.

After the first episode I didn't stop until the end. I loved the actors, their performance was great. I see a great future for the boy who played Max. I wish we all had the courage to be like Sofie or Max.

Love & Anarchy indeed
twonebody6 May 2022
The funny thing about this show is as it goes on I like Sofie and Max less and I like the co-workers more. My favorites are Friedrich and Caroline. I rather watch the co-workers than Sofie and Max.

I loved it! Love & anarchy is like nothing else... The chatacters are unique and the actors brillant. I simply fell in love with them all. The Story is heartwarming and funny. It makes you want to stand on the barricades and free yourself from unwritten rules. Tomorrow I will go backwards to work......

What a message!
therockapoe6 November 2020
So it's OK to blackmail woman with nudes, as long as you are a young handsome fella? I can't be the only one having a Ted Bundy comparison thought.

The show itself is fine, cool. But this idea is pretty F'ed up,

Binge-worthy series. Fingers crossed for S2
anielacasleanu16 November 2020
I absolutely loved this series. The acting, the chemistry between Sofie and Max, the humour, the rebellion. I think we all feel the need o be a bit childish and break free from time to time. It doesn't make us crazy. I really hope there will be a second season.

Déjà vu?
pxnier29 December 2021
This show is interesting and made me think to a French movie from 2003, titled "Jeux d'Enfants".

The main characters play a similar games, but starting earlier in their lives, and continuing through adulthood.

The love interest between a married mature lady and a younger man is typical.

This hit home as most of men have one day or another been in love with an older lady, the so-called mother figure.

There are some side plots and while we all know there will be an affair between Sofia and Max, it does not happen to quickly and it feels natural.

All the usual ingredients are there, the complicated environment on both sides, and some other plot lines revolving around the publishing company.

The show is entertaining, and contains some surprises which make it addictive.

Especially the dare period between the two characters.

If you like this kind of challenges between men and women, I recommend the French movie Jeux D'enfants.

I will happily watch Season 2 if it ever comes out.

... there's an extra rating star up there for her efforts
bjarias22 June 2022
... first season kinda quirky & somewhat unusual fun... surprised when they came out with season two... even with trying to bring others into the storyline it just doesn't have much weight... without her carrying most all episodes, who'd-be-watching.

Its all around brilliant! Watch it!
wurqwqdthu29 November 2020
Brilliant casting, brilliant acting - wonderful directing - very well written story. Light hearted yet very deep and empathetic.it creates believable characters and captures some of the formative struggles one goes through in ones twenties and thirties. It questions societies norms of perfect Life - in a world which is drenched in social media fake curated concepts of perfect life it is refreshing and heart warming to see an alternative to this - which lives from human emotion and human connection. Please please please be there a season two with Max and Sofie. Even though it was a perfect ending no matter what.
