Cinematographer József Nagy (who was born at Hódmezövásárhely, where the film is based) unsuccessfully tried to convince director György Hintsch to cast a Hungarian actress in the lead role. Because of this disagreement, Nagy wrote a letter to István Lénárt in 1986, asking for permission to resign. This was not allowed, so the DOP and the director had to finish the film together, but their bad relationship carried on through the one year shooting.
