Unexpected
best-review30 December 2022
This is a global or international film that incorporates a South Indian flavor.

The promotional material may mislead viewers to expect an action-packed thriller, which is not the case.

The story contains interesting elements, but the screenplay has few issues.

The treatment of the film could have been more subtle and realistic.

The direction does not align well with the story's vision.

Trisha's character is poorly written, yet it possesses strength and offers a new experience for her as an actress. Her performance is Fantastic, Her natural look, without heavy makeup, suits the role while retaining her gorgeous appearance.

The locations are stunning, and the cinematography is fantastic.

The music complements the mood of the scenes effectively.

The editing could have been improved, but the fast-paced screenplay ensures a lack of lags throughout.

I recommend watching it on an OTT platform.

Raangi is Wrongy
jetkingsam4 February 2023
Raangi starts off with a good note of introducing Trisha as a bold woman journalist. The one line of the film is absolutely amazing. But, everything else that happens afterwards are cringeworthy and should not be considered as a model to be followed. Impersonating a teenager, putting a teenager at risk of getting victimized by social network cybercriminals, taking a teenager to places of danger without letting her know the exact reason, asking a teenage girl to strip naked without letting her know the reason are some of the things I am shocked to see in this movie. Such directors should be banned and stopped from making anymore movies.

Also, the film does not know its core message, is it about Teenager problems, supporting Zealots, or justifying romancing with kids. At last when the lead character cries, we can only laugh.

Over acting & unimaginable (director lost control)
harikst28 January 2023
Over acting as usual by Trisha, not interested to continue watching the movie and director not concentrating on story and justified violent people as good.

Too many scenes not fit to the story and showing Indian police as bad and Anti-social elements are good

Very bad example using school kids and justified government forces are bad and Anti-social elements are good to people.

Director glorified terrorist just killed Tamil Nadu Police forces with wrong inspector and no justification for killing constables in the station but Trisha keeps supporting the person who ordered the killing.

Waste of money and no entertainment for family.

Every Decent Message Ruined
beetles-1 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Every meaningful, decent message in this movie is completely destroyed by how uninformed and ignorant the writers and directors are.

The very woman who is supposed to defend children against pedophilia and be this girl boss character (!! Who also uses her unassuming niece as bait and orders her to strip without reason !!), ends up posing as said 16 year old to chat with (and eventually fall in love with) a 17 year old child soldier. How ironic... and what a double standard. Thaiyal feels that Aalim is not like other men. Maybe it is because he isn't a man, he is A BOY! A CHILD.

Not only that, she drags her niece into incredibly dangerous situations without her knowledge (e.g., having her niece meet all the adult men preying on her, giving her address to a known terrorist, taking pictures of her to share with a stranger, and bringing her right into the conflict in Libya) and suggests her insecure friend to get cosmetic surgery instead of, you know, being comfortable in her own skin and not depending on men for validation? Like a normal, truly strong woman?

Let's not even talk about glorifying terrorism and child soldiers...

What a mess... it's embarrassing and deeply disheartening to see any positive reviews. Her crying at the end was the icing on this horrific cake. I wish I could unwatch it.

A breathe of fresh air....!!!
PANDIAN12062129 January 2023
Scripted by A.r.Murugadoss is a fresh take on a unique story line with his assistant M.saravanan handling few thought provoking dialogue portion and direction... The movie struggles to elevate initially due to slow paced narration... 2nd half holds the grip with fine moments...breaking the usual cliche of terrorist formula and especially the climax portion have been shot well technically brilliant... Sakthivels' camera captures the plains of Tunisia and keeping the soul of movie lively... Trisha does a neat job, though Aalim character has no scope for performance he (Bekzod Abdul malikov) does a worthy performance... Overall a slow paced first half needs ur temper to enjoy a new story line that elevates in the later part.

CRAP
narayanank-794012 February 2023
Cant believe what i saw just now. Wasted 2 n half hours if my precious life. Trisha was mediocre to say the least n no aunt of any niece will behave so irresponsibly. Poor little niece made the scapegoat of the whole movie. A terrorist from Libya has the time for love that too a girl from India?(i'm still scratching my head). At no point in time is the movie engaging. A lot of unnecessary scenes. Why they waste time money n resources on such bad stories is still a mystery. No connection between any scene from the beginning. In one word "CRAP".

All the positive reviews are from amateurs or probably kids. Watch it at ur own risk.

First, I want to tell anyone reading this now... you may be heard good and bad comments about this movie... But I want to tell you one thing... this movie is a must-watch movie... only to see that soo good soo much feeling love story inside this movie... Maybe some people do not like this movie... but I know they will surely fall for him. Aalim... I fell for his love... Maybe some will say.. this will not going to happen... but if there is a guy like this ... most of the girls will fall for him. I am damn sure about that.

I don't know much about this.. vfx and all... but if you watch this movie from a romantic view. You will definitely love this movie...

Normalizing terrorism, sexual harassment and Gaddaffi
ar-reviews29 January 2023
I don't have a single good thing to say about this movie. The movie starts off hinting at female empowerment with Trisha exposing a cop who make lewd comments at her. Then she starts investigating a FB account which claims to be her niece & posts nude videos. I don't want to get into spoilers but from that point the movie takes a dive into absurdity.

Trisha asks her 16 year old niece to take off her clothes. Her intention was to confirm if the nude girl in the videos is her niece, but she gives no explanation to the little girl. She just yells at the girl to take off her clothes and watches the niece sob while undressing. How is this not RAPE? She is also totally cool with the actual perp behind the account who has a cringy sob story.

The movie goes ahead and evolves into a pseudo romance between an under age Libyan terrorist and Trisha who is pretending to be her niece. Again the background score and the story telling style is glorifying the romance instead of pointing out the obvious wrongs in an adult romancing a kid. The movie then has a character given a wise person aura glorify Colonel Gaddaffi. I can't believe Trisha did not do a single Google search on Gaddaffi before she acted in this movie. I watched the movie only because I thought a senior actor like Trisha would be acting in something sensible. She just lost all her credibility in my eyes.

The film is okay for drama likers
afrosefathima5 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Overall the Trisha's acting and stunts are good.. it was bit too much but we watch men heroes doing those stunts and clap so why not for female heroes?.

There are many flaws in the movies.. 1- no women let alone teen's own aunt would send pictures or address to someone in the very dangerous place.. it doesn't matter if he's good guy. She should know someone might tail him.

2- she took her niece to a dangerous place ..she's encouraging her to be strong that's acceptable but to the place where war is 24/7 ? That innocent niece never seen bullets in her life before.

3- some screenplays are questionable and confusing.

And i saw comments about Trisha falling in love with a boy who is younger than her and criticizing her for punishing the guys who talked with her niece.. she didn't sexted with him nor confessing her love.. thaiyal punished those guys who sexted with her niece not the one who's being with her niece

It's a good movie for emotional and wanna taste a love rose between a peaceful mind and war mind.

Boring and pathetic performance by Trisha and others
jthirusoul31 December 2022
Nothing new , just the same old story with pathetic performance by Trisha and others !! This genera doesn't suit Trisha at all and we can't even feel what she is going through with this character and absolutely waste of time and money !!

Saravan has been doing good work previously but this is not his genre and I'm sorry for Lyca for producing these kind of pathetic stories with Trisha and Trisha to tell , she has tried her best but it doesn't work at all .

We are fed up with these kind of spineless stories , especially bringing Terrorism into creative arts , how many years you are going to use that plot for your own sake !!

Raangi is very wrongly!!

HOW COME THIS MOVIE GETS 10 STARS
joeharrymailbox9 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Trisha was shown as a bold journalist who don't bat an eyelid to expose even a policeman.

She got to know someone is misusing her niece photo (who's 16yo) for fb account and having adult vdo chats. You expect She'd have asked her niece about this. But no,she watches the video and asks her to undress so that she can verify by seeing the full naked body of the girl.once verified, she finds out the real girl behind it and advices her. I understand that her niece is a minor girl and so she didn't want to threaten her by telling such things. But later,Trisha herself starts using her niece picture for a fb chat which leads to the main plot of the story. The director is clearly showing police and human rights dept as a wrong one and glorifies terrorists. THERE ARE VERY CRINGY UNWANTED DIALOGUES HERE AND THERE.

Do not watch
jenasenan3 February 2023
Inbetween the journalist (Trisha) says - "if only I was younger" A 40 year old woman having feelings for a 17 year old kid.

It's basically story of a cougar.

She is supposed to be a brave journalist. An aunt who is trying to protect her brother's daughter from sexual abuse. But that goes into a totally different direction. Pulling her into a bigger problem.

The 'friend' has been using the girls face for posting her body photos. Which is wrong.

But the aunt using her face for a feeling with the 17 year old terrorist is supposed to be ok. .

Bad music. Bad story. Bad direction. Is Trisha even synchronising her lips properly for the dialogues?

The boy maybe correct from his side. But what exactly is the story? Are they trying to show the Libyan ideas? A love story? An action movie? Story of a brave woman who has achieved something big? Basically it's a totally bad mix of everything.

Can't believe murugadas approved this story.

Lowest point in Trisha's career and a colossal waste of time.
suma-314013 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is a movie that shouldn't have even made it past the script narration stage.

There are so many things wrong about this movie, it's a shame this movie was even made!

1. Trisha asking her niece's friend to get cosmetic surgery done to look beautiful.

2. Trisha always using her niece as bait without ever telling her what's going on.

3. Strip watching her niece to confirm she's not the nude girl in the video.

4. Sharing addresses, pictures, current locations with not just any stranger but a dangerous one!

5. Wishing she were her niece because she's developed a twisted relationship with a terrorist.

6. Terrorist flies in and out of a country without any issues whatsoever.

7. Covering up the hit on a minister by the prime minister as a plane crash.

8. Trisha's clueless actions about Alim's identity and field of work.

9. Claiming to take her niece on vacation to Libya and then abandoning her at the airport and again without actually telling her what's happening!

10. Niece doesn't question Trisha about why she's being asked to go by herself in a totally new country where English isn't even spoken, let alone Tamil.

11. Niece gets dropped off by a random taxi driver at a random place and she hands over a "holy thread" as a gift? To him?!

Literally every scene, every dialogue in the movie is absurd. If this isn't the worst movie that's ever been made and I've ever watched, I don't know what horror awaits!

I wish there was an option to take stars away from the ratings instead. JUST BAD.

ganepall17 February 2023
This movie should allowed to release, This will misguide young minds, Script is very bad, It will. Convey the wrong message to the young minds, Moreover Trisha approaches her niece to remove her cloths, it's a kind of rape approach, She will not tell the truths about the facts to her niece, misusing schools, These kind of movies should be suspended or not allowed to release. Expected good stuffs from Trisha but disappointed, Please entertain this movie. Give good message to society with good scripts, stories, with good approach. It's not fits not even single star. Stop making these kind of movies.

Half-baked everything!
theslayer211214 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This story tries real hard to try to find merit in the saying 'one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist' without really trying to make sense of the various storylines.

The film does a horrible job of normalizing how the lewd policeman verbally harasses the protagonist, how the protagonist herself addresses those predators preying on her underage niece online, and how she even risks the said niece's life multiple times over, just to get to her ends by means necessary.

Everyone involved in this project should hang their heads in shame for delivering an absolute crap-fest of a movie!

The film brushes over the various subjects without actually delving into it enough to make sense. It would have made much more sense if, instead of politicking, they had picked one topic and stuck to it to the end. They could have made this an investigative series about how online sexual predators prey on underage children and have our protagonist be the journalist who investigates this plague and forces the authorities to really crack down on this. Who knows, this could even have become a hit series.

But no, our writers and directors are more involved in politicking and making nonsensical projects that serve no purpose other than bringing their jumbled point of view to the world!

Coming to the antagonists, who might they be? Not the sexual predators whose storyline was just brushed over, not the lewd policeman, who also did not get his just desserts, but the crass representation of the American FBI. Sure, they have run their share of running afoul of multiple countries' internal affairs. But if your stated goal in the movie is to show the freedom fighters' point of view in Libya, at least don't paper over it. There was just one dialogue with a guy the protagonist consults on what the issue in Libya was all about. If the basis for your anti-hero lies in the freedom struggle in Libya post the American interference, at least do a better job of telling that story so that the audience empathizes with it. As mentioned, it is just a whole mumbo-jumbo of half baked nonsense. There was so much potential but not one storyline was used properly!

What a waste of the talented Trisha! Hope actors start finding their voice when presented with garbage projects, and in moulding such half-baked stories into shape.

It is Bekzod's movie
priyaac5 February 2023
This lad in Aalim's role is a breath of fresh air. His emotions are effortlessly real. Storyline could have been better without the needless Macho-Trisha part. Bekzod Abdul Malikov has a true potential to shine in Indian cinema. Mollywood, have you signed him yet...

Simplifying the turmoil gripping a country like Libya could have been avoided. Perils of exposing social media to teens and the issue that the movie started with could have also been handled in a sensitive manner. There is difference between mistake and crime. What the other girl did was cyber crime and this movie even trivialised that!

My score is for Bekzod, not the movie.

Absolute waste of time
ravstars3 February 2023
An absolute waste of time. For a lead who's shown to be a sharp journalist, she makes stupid decisions like continuing to use her niece's account to romance with an underage terrorist.

The plot is clueless with the lead just listening to a child terrorist and shouting that the country has gone to waste. She sees a photo sent by this guy which shows a bombing scene just before it happens. Guess what? She wonders if he's an army guy or a journalist 😳 Pathetic story with zero logic. A story where FBI comes and forces an Indian citizen to just come to Libya so they can catch a terrorist. I couldn't help but laugh and feel sad looking at some of the narratives.

badly made
saru202012 January 2023
The plot(except the love part) was good enough to make this film a decent one but it was so badly made that the film doesn't fare well.

The romance/envy/love part in the film that revolves around the terrorist, a small boy, and the journalist, a big girl, is the one that spoils the whole nature of the film, somehow this message didn't gel at all with the audience and in the climax scene where the journalist cries loudly for the shot terrorist left the theatre into laughter, it was made as such as serious scene and the entire audience just laughing at it shows how poorly the thoughts of the maker has divergent with its audience, it just didn't work at all.

The last time I saw this behavior was with the climax of the film: Solo, where the Nasser scene was made so seriously but it erupted laughter in the theatre that the entire audience base just left the theatre in ROFL, just opposite to what the filmmaker wanted to happen.

This film is one of those examples of how even one small mistake in the plot could make the whole movie go in the wrong direction.

If that part alone would've been removed, this film's plot would've become decent enough and even the entire film was a decent one with the right mix of fun & suspense elements but the opportunity was wasted.

Overall, it's not a film for the general audience but if you like to have this for your case study of how not to make a film, then this is a must-watch for you.

Nothing but wast of time....
mithunchakrabarty-9853414 August 2023
I watched for Trisha but it was frustrating.

Full of misinformation, sympathy for terrorism, and mismatching the situation of plot. Acting was sometimes horrible. But starting was good, I hoped, the main lead will do some very good as a journalist, but the story went in misleading way. FBI never tactical action in foreign soil rather CIA do, you should know, and another thing for foreign operation, they will never show their identity, and here Mr Director had wore them FBI jacket?? Very funny. Moreover, a journalist is very good fighter from FBI???? Couldn't stop my laughing, one scene they showed Trisha can't operate pistol.

Mr. Director plz don't make this rubbish, do some study.

Deadly nonsense movie
rjhridoy-3377520 December 2023
In the realm of Indian cinema, where storytelling and performances often shine, Raangi emerges as a colossal disappointment. From its lackluster storyline to the cringe-worthy overacting, this film manages to turn what could have been an engaging experience into a painful and regrettable endeavor.

One of the most glaring issues with Raangi lies in its narrative, or rather, its lack thereof. The storyline seems to meander aimlessly without a clear plot structure, leaving the audience bewildered and struggling to find a coherent thread to follow. The absence of a compelling plot robs the movie of any meaningful substance, rendering it a mere compilation of disjointed scenes.

Adding insult to injury, the film is plagued by overacting that borders on the absurd. The performances, instead of drawing the audience into the narrative, become a distraction. Exaggerated expressions and theatrical gestures permeate the screen, making it difficult for viewers to connect with the characters or take the storyline seriously. The overemphasis on dramatic elements detracts from any genuine emotional engagement, turning potentially poignant moments into cringe-worthy exaggerations.

A particularly disheartening aspect of "Raangi is the squandered potential of its cast. Even with talented actors at its disposal, the film fails to harness their abilities, leaving their performances overshadowed by the shortcomings of the script and direction. It's a missed opportunity that leaves the audience yearning for more substance and depth in character portrayal.

For those considering watching Raangi, my advice is unequivocal: save yourself the agony and skip this one. The movie's lack of a coherent plot, coupled with the distracting overacting, makes it an unfortunate addition to the cinematic landscape. In a world rich with compelling storytelling and stellar performances, "Raangi stands out for all the wrong reasons, serving as a stark reminder that even with a talented cast, a film's success ultimately hinges on a well-crafted narrative and thoughtful direction elements sorely lacking in this cinematic misstep.

Quite interesting
nassir_y30 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
For a change the story looks from the "terrorists " perspective! The emotions felt by the character Aalim and examines the reason why he is who he is. It is a very simple love story between two teenagers who've never met.

It examines the current state of things and the destruction of our culture and our children due to social media. Social media has taken over our lives and we all have become slaves to it. We Indians talk about a 1000 year history, culture etc but in the end we are no different. Our boys are looking for only one thing - SEX but we are overly protective of our sisters, wives, etc. The film examines the decadence that is happening in india. Decadence will lead to destruction. I fear for our youngsters!
