A personal testimony from several people about their long-time experiences with Michael Jackson on a personal level
djoetma25 August 2019
'Michael Jackson: Chase the Truth' is a testimony about Michael Jackson from mostly Mark Lester and Mike Smallcombe. Lester is Jacksons long-time friend and Smallcombe a biographer that has followed Jackson for a long time.

It's a pity this film isn't on any of the streaming services and needs to be paid for. As viewer, you are paying for the personal story of Mike Smallcombe and Mark Lester plus some other people about their long-time experience with Michael Jackson. These people lived around MJ and still believe in his innocence and think highly of him while they had access to the man on a personal level for a very long time. The message is that since they knew him closely and didn't see anything close to what Leaving Neverland claims, people should question the legitimacy of the Leaving Neverland.

The added value of 'MJ: Chase the Truth' for the discussion around MJ and the claims Leaving Neverland made, can be questioned. But then again, does it need to have that? People can criticize this as being very one-sided, but this film is a reaction to Leaving Neverland which was very one-sided as well, and really is nothing more than just a testimony of two men. People talk about how 'the other side' should be shown. 'The other side' would be the talk about pedophilic behavior, right? What if it wasn't there?

If we look at 'MJ: Chase the Truth' as a rebuttal vs 'Leaving Neverland' it's fine I guess, since they do mention some things that attacks the legitimacy of Leaving Neverland, provide proof for it as well as argumentation. But if one is actually interested in all the fact with all the relevant arguments, documentation and receipts including the sources, YouTube is the place to be. 'Lies of Leaving Neverland' is a fine summary of all the arguments from 'the other side vs Leaving Neverland. It also uses 'Neverland Firsthand: Investigating the Michael Jackson Documentary' which in itself is a fine documentary that was put together on short notice by it's creator. Yes, they are 'youtube-documentaries', but if all the sources are mentioned, one can make a judgement on the legitimacy I assume? Further, Danny Wu and 'The Rageaholic' made some very complete video's in which they talk about all of the allegations and counter it with mention of the related documentation and receipts while Nicole's View did a very interesting interview with Scott Ross, investigator on the 2005 case. And the several interviews with Taj and Brandi Jackson did with several media are definitely worth a watch as well.

The truth in 1 hr
jlbmussy25 August 2019
Opinions from people who knew MJ matter, People who have fully researched MJ and the case matter. This is something that was completely lacking in the leaving Neverland film . I find it bizarre that some have marked this film low and called it Bias yet you can bet those same people watched the one sided Leaving neverland and did not question how bias and one sided it was. This 1hr film needed to be bias as It was a response to LN, it provides proof to all the misgivings and lies that was shown in the Leaving Neverland film. Why are 1 star markers so surprised It's bias? Hypocritical to use it as a negative given the LN film. I liked that this film used documentation to prove facts. I also liked the input from people who knew him well, who knew the circumstances surrounding MJ at the time and can give insight into why the allegations against him are impossible.

I conclude Michael Jackson is and always was completely Innocent.

Refreshing to see.

This is worth a watch for anyone who is on the fence regarding the allegations. Many lies and inconsistencies are now being uncovered since the release of Leaving Neverland to the point that you can no longer believe what has been said in the film. Lies can only travel so far. Good work to all involved.

Blatantly bad and biased
robyn199919 August 2019
It's sad when there are no good things to say about a movie. It's sad when a movie is nothing but negative, but this one... Wow. I'm sorry, but the bias of the director is so obvious you can see it from a mile. This "documentary", more like mockumentary, is very one sided. No information, no proof... Just words from die hard Michael Jackson fans. Creating this film was a waste of time and so was watching it. Chase the truth? More like run away from it.

Interesting watch, surprising information which us quite eye opening. Seems like Michael Jackson was a victim of his own success.

Amateur hour
daniellemelanie20 August 2019
The director of this movie has either created this trash as a joke, or his parents used to pay him one too many compliments as a child, because this movie is not as good as he thinks it is.

Not only is it wildly one sided, it's terribly made too. This documentary glosses over the facts in order to make Michael Jackson look like some victimized angel, when in reality, it's the total opposite. It's obvious that the creator had no idea what they were doing when making this film, because there's little to no facts featured in his thing. It's made by Michael Jackson fans, so right off the bat it's hard to trust those who made this thing.

A shameful piece of media. Save your time and watch something else.

Refreshing to finally hear some facts!
ejhadfield26 August 2019
This is a long overdue look at the other side to the allegations against Michael Jackson, which we rarely get to hear. Well worth watching. Some interesting facts that otherwise get ignored.

A good counterbalance to Leaving Neverland. Gets to the point. Good that the people interviewed knew him so well.

Absolutely awful
mmmonsterfan18 August 2019
To put it simply, this was a bad film. It was not well made and the creators are Michael Jackson fans, so from the get go you know this piece will be biased. If it wasn't so oddly made (what was up with the lighting) it would be less laughable, but alas, this looked like a student film from start to finish. I highly recommend not watching this because it's just a waste of time.

rikish-5638430 August 2019
Thank you to Mike Smallcombe, Matt Fiddes, Mark and Lucy Lester for defending an innocent man and for some essential excellent much needed FACTS about the history of the allegations which DEBUNK the self perjured statements made under other by Robson and Safechuck. This bull and lynching of an innocent dead man for his money must must stop. Let's preserve his legacy FOR GOOD!

Talking Heads Try Damage Control
pebsdad2 September 2019
A pretty cut-and-paste talking heads documentary with no new information that tries to put some damage control on all the allegations against MJ. They trot out 4 people who know or worked with him in an attempt to throw cold water on everything. Look...either you think he did it or not, you are going to believe either side.

Absolutely remarkable.
sweetcornlover21 August 2019
Facts don't lie, people do.

This doc includes people who personally knew him and worked with him for a decent amount of time in his lifetime. This movie addresses all the false allegations and confirms it for everyone that Michael was and is infact innocent. This is better than that crap Leaving Neverland. Everyone who's complaining that it is biased can choke because Leaving Neverland is the actual biased, wasteful piece of crap. Michael Jackson will always be innocent.

Finally some truthful balance
sstrotton26 August 2019
Documentaries usually inform and educate, earlier this year a film was released which made incredibly serious allegations against Michael Jackson. It was one sided and poorly researched, since it aired multiple lies have been exposed both in that film and in their lawsuits (the film failed to mention they've been suing the Jackson Estate for millions & are currently appealling their failed lawsuits)

Chase the Truth provides some overdue balance, and uses factual information and personal accounts of their time with Michael to show how flawed that other film is. In the era of Me Too it's genuinely disturbing how the media are wilfuly ignoring this information, while at the same time happily regurgitating sensationalist stories that have already been proven as untrue.

This is a starting point for anyone who wants to look into this further, once you start looking into the evidence and facts, the more you see proof of his innocence. Regardless of what you think of him, the truth should be what matters. The fact that the Truth is having to be chased despite it being readily available should concern anyone who cares about justice and genuine victims/survivors

Amazing doc
robertb-1871018 August 2019
It completely manage to debunk and shred all the allegations against Michael Jackson to pieces in under one hour.

After watching this there is no way anyone can still take these allegations seriously. No way.

Everything about this doc was fantastic. From who was in it to the evidence and way it was presented

Bad
Anther08 September 2019
Poor attempt at defending Michael Jackson but by people with no real apparent credible knowledge of Michaels background of abuse.

Obviously aimed at being a rebuttal to the documentary Leaving Neverland, but falls way short of the mark to the point that it's embarrassing.

Documentary full of facts not heresay.
natashaw-0941119 August 2019
I had to laugh at some of the reviews on this. Some people were complaining about lighting and this been one sided. This is a straightforward (not 4 hour) no frills factual documentary with no trick lightening and drone shots, reshoots or Bias as in Leaving Neverland..

The people in this documentary describe their friendship with Michael Jackson and factual information is provided through court docs and the discrepancies in the accusers accounts are highlighted.

The only compliant I would have about it is that it was to short there is a lot more factual info. Check out "Lies of Leaving Neverland" people should do their own research and make up their own minds and not what the media is telling them as it's just a copy and paste job.

Michael Jackson presented honestly!
jackiehendersondance26 August 2019
This movie was beautifully presented. The movie was clear, concise and full of poise. The cast provided insight into who Michael Jackson truly was. It was refreshing and necessary especially since our world is filled with tabloids, sensationalism and fake news. This movie was sincere and genuine and from the perspective of those wanting to share the truth. I highly recommend it.

What is the point in this
terrybrowne23 October 2021
Watched it expecting a genuine open minded look into what occurred with the accusations around Michael Jackson but it's just a few of his friends & a journalist who openly admits he is a huge Michael Jackson fan. The whole thing was just pointless & yet another very biased film.

I am undecided either way about what really happened & this film did absolutely nothing to convince me either way.

FAKE Ratings
The_Boxing_Cat2 October 2019
Doesn't pass the smell test.

A bunch of people from the other side of the pond is nothing other than an attempt to discredit the young boys who he raped and abused. How much money were they paid?

He paid hush money to his victims. IF he were innocent he would not have given money- he did so because he knew he would be in prison.

He was a total freak, which is sad. He hated his looks and his own race...unfortunately. He was such a sweet looking little boy. These blokes say "you can't buy the cops"...ah, yeah it's been done before.

His sister, of course will protest for his innocence- it's her dead bro, but absolutely no credibility.
