I had great expectations and was hoping Leslie's Netflix special would be a springboard for her post-SNL career. Unfortunately, it falls flat due to the constant yelling and endless physical performances which were aimed at covering the lack of content and direction. She says she had a great time doing it but alas, she's the only one who actually had fun (laughing at her own jokes throughout).

Started out well

Started out strong and then petered out about halfway through with very few laughs sprinkled here and there. I wasn't offended by her or anything, it was just really poorly scripted. Some of the jokes would have landed much better if she had picked up the pace on them. The more you draw out a simple joke, the more boring it becomes. By the time she got to the kicker of a joke, I just didn't care anymore. Also, the yelling. Yelling the same line 6 times in a row doesn't make it funnier. It was like beating a dead horse over and over. I don't watch SNL so this was the first time I've seen her perform. Bc of this, when she got to the end where she talks about how funny she is, it was really cringey to watch. 4 stars are for the beginning only.
Research and review Leslie

There's an older recording of Leslie Jones stand up and I think its amazing, it shows you what she's capable of and how hard she works. This new stand up still is Leslie and if she was hard core in the past, she's still hard core in her 50's. I liked it because she goes hard and if you're not ready for it then it may not be your "cup of tea". She's reflective on her life and gives her audience some loud advice. Intimate, coarse and NOT a Bill Cosby and wouldn't want to be. I'd take Leslie over a Whitney Cummings any day...
Too loud, but....

Yes, I agree with many other reviewers that Leslie Jones is a bit too loud in her special, Time Machine, and she curses a lot but there was something about HER that I liked. Her jokes about aging and youth are funny and she does some funny facial and physical comedy too.
Some of the things in her act are drawn out too long like the yelling and screaming, some of the physical comedy, and the yelling at the man in the audience...it was part of the act but just drawn out too long.
I give her a 7 because in spite of the things I didn't like, there were things that really made me laugh and in those things, as well as her closing message, I found her to be relatable and likable.
I needed this laugh.

What a disappointment

I tuned in expecting to be entertained; instead, all I got was a shrill, screaming, cursing tirade that was not funny in the slightest. I skipped ahead, thinking maybe it would improve..........but it was just more of the same. Don't waste your time.

Disappointed, expected more from Leslie

I am a huge fan of Leslie's work in SNL and her general hilarity in interviews and such. She's so naturally funny. BUT this stand up show was so weak. There was nothing really funny about it, it was brash and had a lot of screaming but it didn't go with the jokes either because there was no joke. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this at all. At several parts, the material was very cringey. Hope her next show is better because I really love Leslie and would love to see her do better stuff!
Holy Terrible

She's not very good on SNL, but this is just god awful. I'm running low on stand-up specials on Netflix, so I gave this piece of garbage a shot. That's 20 minutes I'll never get back. So I stopped and turned on Tom Segura, and watched "Disgraceful" for the third time.
Back to Leslie "No Jokes" Jones. She's not funny, her set-ups are amateurish, punchlines not worth the horrible wait, the physical comedy accompaniment to emphasize the punchlines was cringe-inducing, and I actually find myself despising her now. I hope she retires, or at the very least never gets another "special". Specials are being handed out like napkins at an all-u-can eat buffet.

Warning: Spoilers
I only got about halfway through, thinking it would get better but it didn't. There was one point where she's just poorly dancing for five minutes and it wasn't funny in the slightest. I loved her on SNL but this was a real flop.
loud does not mean funny

Bill Cosby once said that cussing is a crutch for the unfunny comedian. He and Eddie Murphy went back and forth over it. Leslie is one of those untalented comedians who thinks cussing LOUD makes it extra funny. She is not funny. This is a tragedy, hard to watch. Like a train wreck. Her SNL stuff was bad, that's why she was fired. It's the white man's fault, obviously. Skip this screaming tirade. It is undignified and unladylike and unfunny.
Watch until the END

If you want to listen to someone yell and make random noises, or watch someone make ridiculous faces and actions then this is the comedy special for you. Leslie is much better in SNL, but a stand alone solo show is not her best work. Avoid this disaster
Get out of your comfort zone.
