- Single dad Ben needs help to keep a Christmas gift a secret from his daughter, and that gift is an adorable Corgi puppy! When he meets single mom Lauren he shows her the importance of family and spending time with the people you love.
- All hard working single mom Lauren Bradley wants this holiday is a well earned rest. Her hopes are dashed when she runs into single dad Ben who asks her to help take care of a cute and cuddly Christmas present he's bought for his daughter. Through all the calls & interruptions work, she might just get the best gift of all, the holiday spirit.
- Widowed Lauren Bradley has to show her superiors, especially company President Mr. David, that she works harder than anyone else to advance at her marketing company, especially as there is currently an open higher position, which, if she does get it, would mean that she could start to focus more on a home life with her adolescent son, Jacob Bradley. That's why she's taking work with her when she and Jacob go home to her small hometown for Christmas, she planning to lock herself in her room to work while her parents look after Jacob. Beyond that lack of quality time with Jacob, Lauren long ago lost the spirit of Christmas after her husband, Paul, passed away. In some miscommunication, Lauren and Jacob end up spending the Christmas holidays alone in her parents' house with the occasional visit from Lauren's younger police constable sister, Lizzy. There, Lauren meets her parents' neighbor, single father and Christmas enthusiast Ben Summers, and his adolescent daughter, Charlie Summers. In their burgeoning friendship, Ben asks Lauren for a favor: for a few days until Christmas Eve, if she could look after the Corgi puppy he is giving Charlie for Christmas as a surprise. Beyond the imposition on her time, Lauren agrees but is reluctant in that she has long promised Jacob a dog, she knowing this not the year in that focus on work, meaning that she has to hide the Corgi from him. With the Corgi somewhat acting as a metaphor for her own life, Lauren may open her eyes to the consequences of her workaholic decisions, not only on Jacob but on herself in the fact that love may come her way a second time, perhaps in the form of a Christmas enthusiast single father.—Huggo
