When last we saw Kaitlyn Dever in a Disney+ (Hulu across the pond) film, she was getting romantically entangled in the story of Romeo & Juliet for comedy Rosaline. She probably wishes that was her biggest problem now she's facing off against threatening extraterrestrials in new horror thriller No One Will Save You, due later this month. Check out the trailer:
Writer/director Brian Duffield, who last made Spontaneous here goes full Close Encounters for the story of lonely young woman Brynn, who normally spends most of her time shut in at home.
But she's forced to draw on her considerable reserves of courage and adaptability when aliens invade – home invasion meets nasty space creatures – and Brynn must fight back.
"I think there's a deeply buried feeling that every alien invasion movie could turn out to be true because they remain such an unknown in our daily lives," Duffield says in a statement.

While previous incarnations of Salem Horror Fest occured in tourist-heavy October, this year’s sixth installment smoothly shifted to two weekends in April. The official selections include 20 features and 37 shorts, along with repertory programming, celebrity guests, live podcasts, panels, after parties, and more.
Here’s what I saw at this year’s event…
Bury the Bride
After making his feature directorial debut with last year’s horror anthology Allegoria, Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One returns with Bury the Bride, exhibiting considerable growth as a filmmaker in a short span of time. He channels a redneck-fueled grit similar to his elder brother Rob Zombie’s ourve, particularly The Devil’s Rejects, coupled with Quentin Tarantino-esque idiosyncrasies.
The film follows bride-to-be June along with her older sister (co-writer Krsy Fox) and three of her closest friends into the California desert for a bachelorette party at a rural house owned by her mysterious fiance,...

An anthropology professor is kicked out of his University just as he is claiming to be on the threshold of an apocalyptic discovery. While on suspension he becomes a pond-keeper and gets closer to his revelation. Something is also keeping a close eye on him
What initially drew me to The Pond was a couple of the promotional images. So it should come as no surprise to me that the best thing about The Pond is the imagery it creates. It has creepy, strange and sometimes unnerving imagery in the bucket load. Sometimes coming in the form of masked characters but with no two feeling too similar. It might be two sisters wearing paper bags with faces drawn on them or a man who holds a type of shovel in front of...

If he wakes up, we will cease to exist. The Pond The film is now available to stream from Vudu, Amazon, iTunes, and Google. A day after watching Petar Pasic's debut feature-length film, The Pond, I'm still mulling over its implications. It has burrowed its way into the back of my mind much as similar understated and unsettling films often have. The Pond is in many ways a mix of The Wicker Man and Jacob's Ladder, billed as a folk-horror film, with something sinister simmering below the surface. The plot is fairly straightforward but never spelled out. A disgraced (unnamed) professor coping with the death of his wife, from which he has not yet recovered, relocates to a cabin in the Balkins to continue his...

"The fish is running out of time." Scream Factory has released an official trailer for a very strange, trippy, visually distinct thriller titled The Pond, made by a Serbian filmmaker named Petar Pasic. This hasn't hit any film festivals but is dropping straight to VOD next month for anyone curious about it. Marco Canadea stars as an anthropology professor kicked out from his university for claiming to be on the threshold of an apocalyptic discovery. But someone or something is still interested in his work. As he begins to descend into madness, his hallucinations revealing something sinister is after him... The cast also includes Leslie Kunz and Paul Leonard Murray. I have no idea if this will be any good, but I love films that take bold risks doing some new and different. So many weird and astonishing and Wtf shots in this trailer. Check this out. Here's the first...
