- A mischievous boy, living with his grandmother in a village that people believe is haunted, meets the ghost "Bhutya". How the "Bhutya" transforms the boy's character and the whole village in the process, forms the rest of the story.
- Although it looks like a kid's movie on the face, it has a very deep meaning in it, touching the topics of environment, man's relation with the nature, education, andha-shraddha and more. The ghost in the movie, "Bhutya" (superbly playede by Nana Patekar), is actually a vaidu (ayurvedic doctor) who is forced to run away from the village he is living in.(that side story of the vaidu and his family is also a very emotional one and very nicely edited). The Bhutya then decides to stay in the jungle besides the "Mangalpada" village, in which lives our hero, the boy Chikhalu (nicely portrayed by Sakshak Kulakarni). A specific incident causes Chikhalu to meet Bhutya and then begins the story of transformation of the kid. When Bhutya transforms the boy from a mischievous kid to a sincere student, the movie underlines the importance of education (not just education restricted to the 4 walls of the school but an overall education that builds character of a student and imparts thorough knowledge). The film also touches upon topics like belief in ghosts/ evil spirit and things like that and underlines the importance of scientific temper.—nikatpict@gmail.com
- The story is about a mischievous parent-less boy, who lives with his grandmother in a village, that people believe is haunted. The village is surrounded by a forest that inhabits a supposedly ghost, "Bhutya". "Bhutya" is actually a herbal doctor living in isolation from society. Chiklu while playing a prank, ventures into the jungle and runs into "Bhutya". After some confrontation, Chiklu and Bhootya accept each other. "Bhutya" teaches Chiklu to be good, Chiklu convinces him to come back to the society, which he had shunned long back. The transformation of Chiklu from a naughty brat to a nice well-mannered boy is what constitutes the rest of the movie.
- Chikloo's parents passed away when he was very small since then his grandmother has looked after him.He very mischievous following villagers are lined outside his house everyday to complain to his grandmother he shares a unique bond with much older Saloo.Chikloo once goes deep inside the village jungle where villagers have termed it as a haunted spot and believe a ghost lives there and call him Bhutya. After the incident everyone believes that he has been possessed by Bhutya.Chikloo again goes to the spot and finds that.Bhutya is just a normal human being who has cut of ties from outside world. He was once a Doctor and when he decided to treat a poor patient over rich one his wife was burnt alive in his house following which he decided to live human world due to their selfishness.Chikloo convinces him to return back. But Bhutiya will never.—alex.mjacko@gmail.com
- Bhutya, (Nana Patekar) plays a vaidu (ayurvedic doctor) who, forced to flee his village, resides in a jungle near Mangalpada. home to the young boy Chikhalu (Sakshak Kulakarni). An encounter with Chikhalu sets off a transformation, turning the mischievous boy into a dedicated student. The film emphasizes the importance of comprehensive education that extends beyond classroom walls, while also addressing superstitions about ghosts and promoting scientific reasoning. The subplot of the vaidu's family and their emotional journey adds depth to the story.
