Great concept but why so much narration??

The narration was extremely excessive and distracting and honestly, probably not even necessary. It would have been better to hear it all from the creators who are all brilliant. I feel like they could barely say a sentence before she was talking excessively again, so incredibly bad choice whoever decided to do that.

Shame About The Editing

I liked these as the films mentioned as the films I liked for the most part, the films talked about are Die Hard, Home Alone, Dirty Dancing and Ghostbusters.

I didnt like the way they edited it, making the interviewees sound thick and the narrator thinking he was funny by making jokes then it would cut to make the joke sound funny.

Great Documentary about Iconic Movies

THE MOVIES THAT MADE US SEASON ONE REVIEW

Only four episodes in the first Season, but they are all pretty good, some of the most iconic movies of all time.

I'm a bit disappointed that most of the big stars didn't appear in the documentary about their movies, but it didn't really detract from the stories behind the movies because they got most if not all of the Creative Staff anyway.

Looking forward to the second season.

I can't wait for next season

I really do hope they make more seasons. Because this is one of my favorite shows on Netflix. The behind the scenes and stories that influenced these classic films are so interesting. I just wanna watch so much more of this ! Love the interviews as well. Yes the narrator is kinda silly but it really didn't bother me.

Great stories, annoying narration

I learned a lot of fun facts about the two iconic films profiled, but the narration is so annoying! The narrator interrupts the interviews so often it makes it all feel disjointed.

narration problems

Where is the other narrator? He was much better. The new narrator does not convey the humor of the scenes and speaks very fast. And it completely lost references to the rest of the series. A wasted universe.

The reason why behind the scenes facts have so much to tell about a movie

I always loved to know the history behind the scenes of movies that I watch. Sometimes I spend hours reading trivia sections and also searchin other references on the web. Audience sometimes must know the facts behind a movie to fully understand their concepts, because sometimes there're more about it than some movie hours can tell.

Yeah, there are a lot of movies that made us, more than the 4 choosen for the 1sr season of the Netflix original, a spinoff of the also great Toys That Made Us.

But the thing about these movies aren't exactly just the fact they were box office hits, or movies that survived thru time and became strong references of the genre each one represents, but the behind the scenes facts that most people doesn't know and how these productions were this close to never been made, or not be made exactly as it should.

For me, the highlight of this 1st season definitely is Dirty Dancing. If you already took time reading its trivia and curiosities, you'll already know most of its behind the scene facts, but it's very interesting get to know all of it again from the ones that lived it for real. I only missed Jennifer Grey, but she talked so much about the movie over the years (and still does) that her absence is understandable at some point. But either way, she could be there.

Home Alone's behind the scene facts are also very interesting. For those ones who always believed that the movie was ordered by studios bosses to exploit younger audience, will be surprised to know that, for sure, the producers idea was to make it a big hit, but studios never believed that it could make it the way it did.

Like is well said, sometimes we must believe that there are movie gods somewhere to make great ideas in the industry happen. That's why Dirty Dancing is, for me, the best example of it. A movie that all the odds were against it, but in the end everything happened the way it should, all the production gaps were filled flawless by the passion of each one involved and they did made it one of the greatest movies of all times.

Please change the narration

I find this stuff fascinating. I honestly think I'd give it a 9 if it weren't for the narration and editing, it's that bad.

Loved the behind the scenes view!

My husband and I were looking for something to have as background noise without needing to fully invest for a lazy New Year's Day. We choose this and failed. We were hooked from the first few minutes of the first episode and decided to watch the episode and then the corresponding movie to the episode. It was enhanced the movie experience and made the movies that much better!

Flawed but Enjoyable

I did enjoy all four of these entries and hope there are more to come. Agree with other reviewers that the narrator's method was irritating and misplaced for this type of documentary. And the cutaways were pretty lame and unnecessary. But the insider information was fascinating, and I especially liked the revisits to the locations at the end. Why on earth didn't they talk about the most iconic scene in Die Hard, the walking on broken glass? I kept waiting for it. Lots of interesting backstories makes this flawed documentary worth watching anyway.

The editing makes it exhausting to watch

I love the stories, but the editing makes it impossible to watch. Can't they let someone speak a sentence without being interrupted by edits or unnecessary comments from the narrator?! This would be bearable for a 5 minute YouTube video, if I absolutely had to watch it, but not for a 40 minute "documentary" series. Disappointing, I loved The Toys That Made Us.

Shut it off after thirty seconds

Wow I was really excited about this especially since I'm a pretty big ghostbusters fan but I was VERY irritated by that obnoxious narrator. I made this account specifically to write this review, that's how much it bothered me. Poor choice Netflix!

HORRIBLE Narration/Edits. Fascinating content

Season 2 narration wasn't as bad- editing was bloody stupid though. BUT.... Bloody Hell, what drug was the season 1 guy on? I did watch because I was absolutely fascinated by the content, but please please please get a regular narrator and editor. The average age of people who actually got to see these movies in theatres far exceeds the average age of the children who this style of production is geared to...not smart, not funny and bloody irritating. Please re-do these, and fix them going forward. You'll really do well if you take a leaf out of the same book as the, mature and talented editors of the movies you showcase.

A fun look at some truly classic movies

An interesting look at the behind the scenes of some iconic movies, starting from the initial concept and writing, through production. The documentaries did a great job of having relevant interviews for each film and bringing up some cool facts about each movie. The documentary style could have been cleaned up, cutting some of the sound effects and the repetition of some of the interviews.

Who the heck is this for??

Unbelievable. Who did this series? TMZ?? What the heck is up with the narration? It is extremely extremely annoying and corny as all hell. I mean, who do they think will watch this? 14year olds who have no clue about these movies and couldn't care less? Or maybe adults and young adults who are interested in the details of how some of their favorite movies were made?

The narration is just so annoying(pretty much like the corny TMZ video narrator-for all I know could be the same guy but the voice sounds different) and I am seriously fighting the urge to just turn it off. Stop "trying" to be funny and give us what we came for. Information on what it took to get the movie(s) done. If this was a course and this guy was an instructor, I would raise my hand and ask if there is anyone else who can teach this class that doesn't think they're just so funny when they are the exact opposite. No one came here for that!!! smdh anyway, whatever. If you don't mind some clown trying to do standup in the middle of your documentary then go ahead, good luck. pfft!

Entertaining on every level

I have NEVER written a review before but I am so ridiculously frustrated with the absolute junk and trash that is considered "cinema" for quite some time. It was a family legacy and quite an enjoyable experience to go to the movies or watch a show on television (with a choice of seven channels). I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed ANY genre of celluloid. However, this documentary was utterly entertaining for ALL the right reasons. Telling the backstory of how classic films were brought to fruition had me laughing and astonished at some of the encounters. I also found the editing and cuts for comic relief crafty and ingenious. Not only is this series highly interesting and inviting, it brings back the nostalgia, memories and emotions when ALL involved had brilliance, vision, skills, pride, craftsmanship, REAL talent, resilience, loyalty, dedication and chemistry. NOW ALL WE HAVE ARE TONS OF JUNK ON HUNDREDS OF NETWORKS AND IN THE THEATER!!! Please, Please the show must go on.....

Brings the films to life

Its done so well that even the making of Dirty dancing seems interesting. I specially enjoyed the story of how they made home alone and how it almost didn't get made,i couldn't imagine a world without it

Every film hazard it's story.

Seriously worth a commitment, wether new to cinema history or have dabbled in film culture. I have found the emotional journeys of these films fascinating. From start to wrap up of filming, this is an in depth exploration of the passion and love for an idea that shows the true purpose of film, and the hard work and dedication to bring forth the movies you love. And hey, even if you are unfamiliar or don't "like" the movie being the focus, Watch it! It may surprise you how much you overlook and just how much love goes into it. As the title says, every film has a story to tell.

Love it.

Interesting But....2nd season narrator? BOO.

Who tf is narrating the 2nd season? He's absolutely horrible! Couldn't find an hilarious voice actor to read the lines so this guy got the job?

Like listening to someone with ADHD tell you a story

This has so much potential but the way it's edited/narrated is like listening to someone with ADHD tell you a story. It jumps all over the place.

Backwards in time. Forwards in time. Person A starts a sentence. Narrator interrupts. Person B finishes the sentence. Clip from the movie. Back to person A.

It's nauseating.
