Enlightenment or Madness? - Script, 1:07 mark (IMDB Top Reviewer)
A_Different_Drummer20 September 2021
From the frozen north comes a low-budget indie with literal delusions of grandeur. Leaving aside for the moment the usual flurry of inevitable (and seemingly unavoidable) fake reviews, we will note with appreciation the memorable cinematography and the yeoman performance of Fiona Graham, who effectively builds a bridge with the audience and actually makes you care whether this hi-concept sci-fi melodrama ever takes flight and goes anywhere. On the other side of the ledger, we have the usual tropes associated with first-film efforts, including in this case a sound track so overbearing it will make you weep, and a main character (the missing husband, Issac, played by Luke Robinson) so unappealing you will subconsciously hope that he never returns from whatever parallel dimension he vanished into.

Someone step in and tell these people to stop...

If you want to demonstrate awful acting to a class of film students, show them this film. I decided to watch it until the end, I might have masochistic tendencies, or maybe it was because I was mesmerised by the crapness. Either way, I feel less successful as a person because I did.

Also awful, the photography, script, direction...editing. But the acting...use it as an example to help others avoid the same shame.

Dont waste your time on this.

The movie was just awful, long, slow, boring. Characters I did not like, storyline was a mess, dialogue non-existent, struggling to find something appealing about it but there is truly nothing. I kept watching, hoping for some explanation. Give it a miss.

Beam me up Scotty
arthurbcruz29 September 2021
True to say, it is a powerful movie. However, none of this ever happened because a time machine was never BUILT for this to happen! Love and romance mask the movie and make you believe that parallel existence is possible but in reality does not deliver the truth of multiple dimensions. And in our stage in life, the mind has not adequently matured to truly visit different planes of existence. And in the end, it makes no difference because it leaves you hanging to find out when and where the characters of the story were and if it really happened. One should visit a movie called "Another Earth" with a similiar concept but more focused on a possible reality. This movie focused way too much on rivalry between Jamie and iIsaac, the main characters. Although, it's not too bad.

Compelling story, beautiful cinematography
elisaalby25 September 2021
Virginia Abramovich's feature length directorial debut offers a compelling and suspenseful story. You don't have to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy this film (but if you are, you will). The cinematography is stunning. Highly recommend!

The one that doesn't fade away from memory. Very recommend

As much as I am into sci fiction genre, I was impressed how the human love blends with quantum mechanics, into the whole story line. The characters live their lives in a fluid stream of time: one moment, is getting the glimpse of the past, the next - dwelling in the present.

Overall - the whole story, accompanied by visual elements and music, are compiled the way to consume all the attention.

It is worth to mention what a beautiful locations, the film was shot, are!

My wish is that "Between Waves" would find the way from the festival to the streaming services, or cinema theatres audience.

Great mood and vibe
taoliving25 September 2021
I don't know who review bombed this, but it's a great indie movie with really good cinematography and a story that's free from the usual blockbuster tropes.

The mood of the movie pulls you in, and even the color palette plays to help take you to a certain emotional space.

The concept is something familiar but done in a fresh and engaging way that should be experienced personally before deciding what you think about it.

Suspension of Disbelief
themoviebuff-3587723 December 2020
Ever wonder what is real and what is fantasy? Most of us have a pretty good grasp on reality however things can dramatically change when we experience a traumatic event. Jamie, a seemingly headstrong, together character has her life riveted by the disappearance of Isaac (her lover). As she searches for answers of his whereabouts, her world starts to blur as Jamie begins to cross over parallel dimensions and consciousness. What unfolds are her memories, visions and future possibilities converge into storm of chaos where Jamie must choose a path to wade through. Jamie's journey is shot in cinematic brilliance, spanning multiple continents and geographic landscapes. The cast deliver solid performances and the director weaves her magic in making it all come together neatly at end.

Powerful and evocative!
iga-0282825 April 2021
This is a beautiful movie, with evocative cinematography and a compelling story. The pacing, style and Expressionist elements are reminiscent of some European master directors-most particularly the early work of Luc Besson and especially his "Le Grand Bleu" ("The Big Blue"). The story is unique and captivating and the final revelation is worth the wait! Check it out if you have the chance!

Really great footage

I really enjoyed the underwater scenes and the drone footage. Amazing colors as well. Thought both leads gave strong performances. Glad this film is getting the recognition it deserves on the festival circuit.

Beautiful film
yelena-0969826 September 2021
Beautifully written, directed and filmed. The scenery in the movie is breathtaking!!! A great suspense thriller leaves you sitting on the edge of your seat. A beautiful story of love, loss and trauma. Leaves you wondering about how reality can be blurred with insanity when dealing with painful loss.

Brainy and Intriguing
shouldersocket23 December 2020
Had a fun time watching this intriguing film, and how it pushes audiences to confront their "here and now." Intelligent and well-paced rather than the shoe-gazing so in vogue now. A shame to stream it on a little screen as the big screen would do it justice.

Good Drone footage
TheDroneNerd23 December 2020
You had very nice drone footage That was cleverly attached to the movie. My favourite piece of Drone footage was when the waves where crashing against the rocks showing the emotion of the scene. The movie was cleverly put together and would love to see more. The only problem is that I would have loved to see it on the big screen but couldn't.

Beautiful Cinematography and writing
lickies20 February 2023
Engaging. Thoughtful. Reminiscent of a Kubrik-style film. An odyssey of motion and the senses. At the heart of it - it's a beautiful love story first. Fiona doesn't give up on Issac sharing moments across dimensions.

I loved the location and the cinematography was absolutely magical.

All-in-all it was a lovely Sunday afternoon movie to cozy up to - a great first-date movie to talk about afterwards over dinner, dessert and wine.

In terms of the plot, I imagine the writer wanted to take us on a journey of what's possible, and what it takes to fight for a love so strong it can endure time and space.
