Justin Lewis decided not to direct this so that he could focus solely on The End (2020).
Wyatt Daane, Jack Kockenmeister and Steven Portoles came up with the plot for Honey I'm Home and potential other Skinny-Webz films while waiting in line on Hollywood Boulevard.
On the day of the film's release, the official Skinny-Webz YouTube channel uploaded a video of most of the cast and crew of the film watching it for the first time, showcasing their initial reactions.
The film's title is a nod towards the usage of the word "Home" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man film titles.
An end credits scene for the film was shot but then deleted from the final cut, as revealed per the live reaction from the cast and crew video. It was later revealed that the scene would have involved Freddy Dock waking up after being hit by Gublin's apple. Wyatt then appears and the two finally meet. They end up having a chat, and when Wyatt gets up to leave, Freddy, now dressed in a jean jacket with the word "Denim" written on his head, tells Wyatt that next time they meet, "there's gonna be a whole lot of Denim." This scene would have teased Freddy's return in the sequel, where he would take on the villainous "Denim" persona, a parody of "Venom". His final line being a play on the line spoken by Cletus Kasady in the post-credits scene of Venom (2018): "There's gonna be carnage."
