But... He loves you.

Not a bad look back at four comedic geniuses, every one of them deserving. There are at least a dozen, or more, comedians that are deserving, this is simply four of them. The whole premise is difficult in this era, as nearly everything shown in the clips of those honored is available at the push of a button. Still, the event is put together pretty well, the edit of the clips was fine, though parts of Pryors seemed a bit disparaging and uneeded. The presenters were ok, hit and miss all of them, but they were given an impossible task. I enjoyed the event and look forward to seeing it again.

Props to Jeff Ross, his memorial segment was absolutely fantastic, just really spectacular, even if the crowd didn't seem to get some of it.

Great honorees but...
DizzleZ8 June 2022
Why in all the effing effs would you have Pete effing Davidson start off what should be a classy show honoring such trailblazing and brilliant comedians?! Absolutely one of the worst decisions ever made in the history of Netflix. Fast fwd to John Stewart and enjoy the show. Someone needs to lose their effing job for choosing Davidson.

On another note, the DJ MC was an annoying choice for this event and brought down the thoughtful tributes to these legends to a 90s MTV half-hour special level.

Garbage production but worthy attention for the nominees who will never go out of style.

Good Comedy Hall of Fame Special
tkdlifemagazine28 May 2022
This is the premiere ceremony of the induction ceremony for the new Comedy Hall of Fame. The first class includes George Carlin, Joan Rivers, Richard Pryor, and Robin Williams. This Netflix special involves comedians like Jon Stewart, Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Dave Chapelle, and John Mulaney paying tribute to these great artists. There are some interesting perspectives but the historical footage and clips are the best part. Good choice in these four but it is almost a no brainer.

Jon Stewart, John Mulaney, Chelsea Handler and Dave Chappelle honor George Carlin, Joan Rivers, Robin Williams and Richard Pryor.

4 of the the greatest. A good way to learn a little more about them.

Just Watch Their Specials

I love the comedians being honored in this show and I love the comedians that are honoring them on stage but I can only imagine one thing that's worse than watching this show... and that's sitting in the audience for it. Comedians explaining why these other comedians are among the greatest is dull. And also another opportunity for people to toss around the cliche phrase of 'GOAT'. God I hope people drop that phrase soon.

Great Comedians Honoring The Great Comedians
calvinnigh24 May 2022
This induction is really special for several reasons: I'm glad that Jon Stewart got to talk Carlin because that is always a joy to witness- I'm glad John Mulaney promoted and encouraged the same love and happiness that Robin Williams' comedy was wrought with- Chelsea Handler speaking truth and not making me roll my eyes was new for me and I enjoyed it very much, and I have never been happier to see Chappelle on stage surmising a man of true importance. If you love comedy and the history of comedy like I do, this is a treat. If you love seeing honest people lay down their pride in honor of the great figures that paved the way, then this is it. If you love Pete Davidson, well then maybe you'll like this special even more than I did.

tributes to some of the greats
ksf-24 October 2022
Part of the Netflix is a Joke series, a group of contemporary hosts and comedians introduce the four deceased comedians being inducted into the comedy hall of fame. Hosted by pete davidson, of snl fame. Lots of swearing. Especially during the george carlin part. Jon stewart talks about the career of george carlin. Talks about carlin's genuine concern for how society looks at words, and the fact that we were really scared of those seven words. John mulaney describes robin williams' energy and total dedication to his comedy. And amazing film career. Chelsea handler introduces the hardest working lady to ever work in show biz joan rivers. Glad to hear the correct use of the word homage. Bob ross does a hilarious tribute to gilbert gottfried, louie anderson, norm macdonald, and bob saget. Dave chappelle talks about the film and comedy career of richard pryor, another hard working guy. It's funny! And touching. I'm really surprised at the lowish rating, as of today. There is a lot of swearing, so may offend some, i guess. Directed by marty callner.

A Train Wreck
arfdawg-127 October 2023
A bunch of unfunny washed up comedians honoring four of the legends.

Why they got unfunny John Stewart to induct the great George Carlin is beyong me. He cant touch the genius of Carlin.

The host Pete Davidson is already yesterday's news and today's fish and chips paper.

John Mulanny -- who??? -- comes out in a powder blue suit that doesnt fit introducing Robin Williams. You beg God to bring on the clips because it's so hard to listen to this guy.

Then completely untalented Chelsea Handler does Joan Rivers. She can't hold a candle to her either. The woman is a not funny.

Jeff Ross comes out to tell us who else has died. He's got to be one of the last borst belt comics.

The Chappelle comes out to introduce Rihard Pryor. Again while Chappelle may be rosey right now, he cant hold a candle to Pryor.

I was pretty bored throughout except for the comedian clips.

Get a bigger hall

Warning: Spoilers
OK. I understand. The first of anything can be a chore and it probably takes some time to get it right. IMO they did get the 4 people honored right. Certainly they belong and it seems socially correct to have a Black and a Woman among the choices, though they are obvious choices. I also liked the tribute to the recently passed away. What disappointed me was the presenters and also their tributes. I was also disappointed not to see more family members there. FWIW - George Carlin, of course, but there would be no Carlin without Lenny Bruce. I know he wasn't very funny at the end of his career when the authorities had crushed him and he started reading transcripts. But recall his early work and it's hard to exclude him from a list of the greatest.
