Michael Shanks is the third cast member from "Stargate SG-1" to not only appear in "Eureka" but also appear in the same season. Teryl Rothery played the beloved character "Dr. Janet Frasier" on SG-1 saving lives, but in season 2 episode 10 she played "Diane Lancaster"...a woman still distraught from the death of her husband she built a device that she thought she could enter and would reunite her with him in the after-life. Michael Shanks wife, Lexa Doig, who guest starred in the previous "Eureka" episode "Maneater" where she played "Dr. Anne Young" was also on Stargate SG-1 as "Dr. Carolyn Lam" where she replaced Teryl Rothery's character "Dr. Janet Frasier".
The title is based upon a quote from William Shakespeare's play "The Merchant of Venice" (Act II, Scene VII): "All that glitters is not gold."
"All That Glitters" reunites (as noted above) Michael Shanks, Dr Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG-1, with Steve Makaj, Colonel Makepeace, also from Stargate SG-1. This makes #6 and #7 Stargate SG-1 alumni to join the cast of Eureka. The others being Teryl Rothery (Dr Frasier), Lexa Doig (Dr Lam), Colin Cunningham (Major Davis), Fulvio Cecere (Colonel Davidson) and Martin Christopher (Major Marks).
At the end of the episode, after a "To be continued..." title card, instead of the usual Eureka closing theme, the "Henry and Beverly" track composed by Bear McCreary is played during the credits.
