Tv is better but still laughable

I watched this since the tv series is hell funny. The Ossan love to his colleague is so cute. The movie maintains the spirit of the TV but just a bit out of idea and little lame. Even though, still many laughable part in the movie. Just as not as good as TV.

Funny but forgettable

I haven't watched the TV series, so I did not know what to expect. The story is silly, and I am quite surprised by this as this is uncommon in Japanese films. the characters are boisterous and over the top. It is OK for a laugh, but it is forgettable.

They blew it up like the bomb.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was meant to convey the same hilarious and absurd vibe along with the wonderfully adorable and cute from the original show 'Ossan's Love'. Though the movie has achieved the first part, it did so in a horrible fashion. The latter is sloppily conveyed.

The production is flawless, bringing much energy and style. The cinematography definitely surprised me in a good way and made it more refreshing to watch. The acting is a masterpiece, where the talented actors bring the characters alive. Kei Tanaka's cartoony and delightful acting bought back the comedic essence, supported by Kotaro Yoshida uproariously. Everyone else from the OG cast too brought back the emotional value the show built, and I really cant stop emphasizing their amazing acting. The new cast members didn't disappoint either.

The direction and writing is the only and biggest flaw, which brings the whole thing down to flames (pun intended). It's so lazily and hastily written that it makes you cringe and scream to the screen. As a viewer who held the show to her heart, watching this 2 hour waste of a time really made me doubt the sanity of the writers, director, and even the producers who approved of this atrocity. Passing the flaws of it as "comedy" is just hiding the irresponsibility of the above mentioned people. From a cheating misunderstanding, their company partnering with disguised criminals, Kurosawa having amnesia, breaking up, being consoled by Justice, being abducted, all were conspicuous plot points which drove me nuts. If you want to go big, don't make it so big that it becomes mad. I can understand it was an effort to match the dramatic flair the show had, but was there a need to bring 10 different plot twists? Apart from the repeated surprises, the main couples love journey is poorly portayed. Apparently their fight got so bad than they needed a bomb explosion to bring them back together, where they basically had no character growth. Character arcs, bye bye.

In conclusion, this movie did no justice to the show apart from its production grandeur. Though it was fun to watch, the literary aspect was irritating.

What it had: Acting, Production Cinematography.

What it lacked: Writing (which is the whole basis of a movie)
