Was totally expecting to dislike this but couldn't sleep and gave it a shot. I don't regret it. Show pulled me in, made me laugh, entertained me. Hope there will be a season 2!

Takes a few episodes before you get where it's going.
the_hawk820 August 2020
Someone else wrote that you need to give it a few episodes. They were right. It takes to the third episode before it hits its stride. Then you can see the campy fun it offers. The two leads are amazing and the supporting cast is great. The stories are fun and funny. Give this a chance for some hilarity.

Not the target audience, loved it !
originaliko16 August 2020
First I know that is series has not been made with the like of me as the target audience. I'm not young, a woman or even christian.. and I loved it ! I start watching because I was bored and wanted something very light, expecting to stop watching halfway through the first episode. Boy ! How wrong I was. The premise of teenagers as assistant bounty hunters is of course totally unrealistic but that's the only thing I find totally far fetched. What's really keep me watching is of course the two leads and their portrayal of fraternal twin sisters. I don't think I ever saw this kind of sisters relationship before and if I can't judge on the veracity ( I don't have a sister nor a twin) I like how different it's seems from everything else I add saw in a long while. I'm at episode 6 right now but I can't wait to see the rest

It gets better...
benji-UCLA15 August 2020
It took me a few episodes to really understand what exactly they were going for....it's extremely satirical and exaggerated but it's surprisingly well written. There is a lot of humor for people of any age, and the two leads (who were basically no names before this) do a surprisingly great job. Their chemistry feels very real and it helps keep the show grounded at points even with all the ridiculousness going on. The actress playing Sterling had such great comedic timing and overall was probably my favorite character....but the entire main cast were all well acted and likable...even April, the "antagonist", was HILARIOUS in her own way. Give it a few episodes to grow on you before you decide to write it off.

Excellent satirical comedy with extras!

Beautifully written, snappily edited and with razor-sharp dialogue, this is a cracking addition to the Netflix catalogue.

Amazing fresh well written

Such a funny series great actors and scripts. The fact the girls attend an ultra conservative religious school makes it even funnier

From a 40ish year olds point of view
tbyrd-5008821 August 2020
My husband and I will usually give a series a chance by watching the first episode of a season. We really did not expect anything good would come from this series and actually watched the first show after he lost in paper, rock and scissors. This show is funny on so many levels. It's even more funny because we are from the South and every southern cliche they could poke fun of they do. It's not in a pretentious way; it's just hilarious.

The series is basically twin teenage sisters who fall into bounty hunting by accident. It follows their lives through their accidental job, drama of high school and sister relationships. Netflix has some not so good series with subpar acting and horrible dialogue. This show saved Netflix's track record of crap.

Stick with it...
rasmusb-5961115 August 2020
After beginning to watch the pilot i was quick to conclude that this series was just another cheaply produced low quality Netflix series, but thankfully i stuck with it. After assuming that this series was genuine in all it did it took me until maybe the third or the fourth episode to actually realize the genius of the writing here. In truth this is a deep analysis of the human psyche and the ways that it and cultural standards can morph to fit what it might have wanted or "needed". I especially find it fascinating how the two protagonists being twins are used to illustrate the internal feedback loop of the human mind we all sometimes use to motivate our decisions. This is not an easy series to process but give it some time and it will be worth it.

Irreverent and funny
RubyMouse15 August 2020
While there are annoying moments - the twin to twin communication sections are just one - there's also a lot of laughs. It's irreverent and silly and great if you're not in the mood for thinking about the meaning of life. I haven't finished yet but it is so far keeping me entertained and is reminiscent of Buffy. It is aimed at teens though so bear that in mind!

Pure chemistry acting, fun and clever!

I was very entertained and honestly blown away by the acting performances for the main characters and others. A refreshing, spot on comedy show with a unique sense of humor.

A tale of two shows
edwin-wks27 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Besides the white conservatives who clearly disapprove of this show because they are the butt of the jokes, the rest of the viewers mostly fall into two groups: the ones who preferred the first three episodes and the ones who preferred the latter seven.

I belong in the former because I enjoyed the thick satire that was at the forefront of the first three episodes. With the theme of teenage bounty hunters, it established itself as a show that does not take itself seriously; they had themselves a winning combination of satire and action. Then it devolved into a typical teen drama and the bounty hunting became more of an afterthought. It was almost as if the writers had been pressured to make the show more teen-friendly.

There were also a couple of misfires: that scene where Blair storms into Miles' mansion and we see his family sitting at the dinner table surrounded by white servants. It is a bit on the nose. I get what the writer was trying to achieve - how would a white person feel if the shoe was on the other foot. But it is entirely unnecessary and possibly offensive to think that an African American family would do that given the opportunity. This scenario is even more implausible given that Miles' mother is a liberal senator who cares about the environment and climate change.

Finally, it was revealed that Sterling and Blair are not twin sisters but cousins instead. How would they explain that twin telepathy which has been so prominent in the entire series if they are not even sisters? I can only imagine this was written to guarantee the maximum amount of drama in Season 2. They will have to decide if it is a satire or a teen drama because Season 1 feels like a mish-mash of two entirely different shows.

A pleasure to watch
acpaint115 August 2020
I really enjoyed this show. It's actually funny, a teen drama that is not campy.

The acting is excellent especially the two actress who played twins. They are in their twenties, but pull off sixteen/seventeen better than just about any teen show I've watched with older actors. The actor who played the adult bounty hunter is very good also.

Highly recommend the show. I believe you'll find it enjoyable

Clueless Twin Goes Bounty Hunting

A Bit Disappointing
grim200516 August 2020
The show starts off better than I was expecting. Having a reasonably old, grumpy bounty hunter taking two teenage girls under his wing sounds like a decent recipe for entertainment, and them often getting on his nerves is amusing. The ability for the teenage twins to communicate telepathically was also a good addition, if not a little ridiculous.

Unfortunately, as the season goes on it feels like the focus shifts to the point that the bounty hunting becomes a secondary concern for the show. Instead, the primary focus becomes the drama around the girls' lives. One of them is trying to uncover her mother's secret while also trying to make things work with the guy she's dating, while the other is just trying to find herself. Even the focus of the bounty hunter guy seems to be a love triangle between him, his ex-wife and the ex's sister.

My main issue with the direction of the show is that I don't really care that much about the individual characters and their drama. Together, the sisters are highly entertaining, and the bounty hunter thrown into the mix is even better. When they're all together and bounty hunting, it's a winning formula. But alone they are far less interesting.

Overall the show just makes me think of one of Netflix's other shows: Insatiable. That show had an interesting premise that could have been fun if it had stuck to that premise, but instead it decided to wildly deviate and just became an uninteresting mess. Teenage Bounty Hunters has definitely held itself together better than Insatiable, but it still feels like the writers used the concept of the show to draw us in, just so they could give us some derivative story centered on generic teenage drama.

Ode to binging
slurpinsodasquietstyle15 August 2020
I have to be honest I've watched my way around the couch a few times through various shows. I found myself genuinely appreciating the character development as well as the Rapport between the people and how they interacted. The dialogue was absolutely hilarious there were twists and turns that kept you going and definitely opened itself up to a whole other season. I found the more I watched the easier it was to keep watching and I definitely want more.

An unexpected good show
Nightmarelogic17 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I almost skipped this. The title sounded stupid. But I needed something to watch while I worked so I flipped this on and was I surprised how unexpectedly entertaining it actually was. It is subversive and funny with the right amount of teenage angst. After getting into a car accident fraternal twins Blair and Sterling are mistaken for bounty hunters and just go with it so they can pay off the damages for the car. While working for Bowser as a bounty Hunter they also attended a private religious school where where Sterling must contend with the after affects of losing her virginity to long time boyfriend and a enemy that may be more then she seems. While Blair suspicious nature may not only cost her a relationship she may actually want but may bring to light secrets she may regret knowing.

This may seem like a stupid show but it is quite fun.

Very Well Written!
bobcozzi15 August 2020
Finally a production that has great writing instead of high-production values (i.e., great camera angle, lighting, make up, etc.) this show, while geared towards the younger generation was very fun to watch (as a 60-year old). The dialog between the "twins" is so clever, the way the leads are introduced to the Bounty Hunter is awesome and it never gets adolescent. The only reason it didn't get 10/10 is because the plot that occurs while the leads are introduced to us and the bounty hunter doesn't really repeat itself is later episodes. Which is too bad because it was pretty cool.

Two new stars
Yahya_Adada15 August 2020
Is it the excellent casting, the witty satire script, the brilliant plot, or the realistic chosen community where the plot took place, that made this show so appealing and pleasant? Definitely all of them, but the two heroines are charm to watch

Fun but struggling to get to the end
iwishiwasabee25 August 2020
Found this to be lots of fun, especially to begin with, but as it progresses it focuses more on teenage drama than bounty hunting. Think the teenage drama is good but the bounty hunting made it fun. Struggling to stay engaged...hopefully season will end on a high!

Good, not great.
Nomad00719 August 2020
Wanted to love it. Kids are cute. Good acting. Fun concept. I expected a lot more action but there's a lot more story about the kids lives and their love.

Great to see Kadeem. I honestly didn't recognize him at first. It's been a while and looks pretty different.

But that said I've been bingeing my way though all the episodes.

Just wish the series more more like the beginning of the 1st episodes.

Great start, but losing energy
arjoinge17 August 2020
The first couple of eposodes were great and fresh, but then the energy started to become lower for each episode, with more standard drama and other standard stuff. I also noticed that the quality of directing became lower.
