There are several comedy dramas that have surfaced on the Ott platforms and stayed true to the genre. Panchayat, Gullak, Mismatched, Hostel Daze, Choona, Triplings, and Tvf Pitchers. All of them have different premises, yet somehow the humor in them is organic and stays rooted to the setting. The same could not be said about Life Hill Gayi. As the pun in the title suggests, the show is about an ultra-rich family from Uttarakhand who are given the task of refurbishing an old, dilapidated hotel. Directed by Prem Mistry, Life Hill Gayi is a Hotstar special that releases on August 9, 2024.
The six-part series, with each episode lasting thirty-three to thirty eight minutes, is all about an ultra-rich family that consists of an old man, his son, and his grandchildren. Fully aware of the fact that his son is a nincompoop, the old man assigned the task of getting his run-down...

“Gullak” Season 4, much anticipated by fans of the charming Mishra family, unfortunately fails to live up to its predecessors. While the previous seasons of this heartwarming series set high standards with their relatable storytelling and memorable performances, the latest installment falls short in multiple areas, resulting in a rather average viewing experience.
One of the major issues with Season 4 is its pacing. The narrative feels excessively stretched, with episodes dragging on without significant development or engagement. This results in a loss of the tight, crisp storytelling that made earlier seasons so compelling. The charm and wit that defined the series seem diluted, making it difficult for viewers to stay invested.
The performances in this season are another letdown. While the cast, including Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Harsh Mayar, has delivered strong performances in the past, their portrayal in Season 4 lacks the same spark and authenticity. The characters,...

Gullak Season 4 Is Streaming Live On Sony Liv ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Sony Liv is back with yet another entertaining and endearing episode of Gullak season 4. Starring Jameel Khan, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Geetanjali Kulkarni, and Harsh Mayar, this season brought an underwhelming tone along with the five new episodes. However, it is the ending that left everyone surprised and perplexed.
Do not worry; we will not give you any spoilers for the show. But yes, we would still like to discuss the ending and explain what it could possibly mean. Interestingly, it was only the final episode that brought the original elements of the show back.
The final episode finally drops a transition of the show, moving from nostalgia to present age and striking a debate between adulting and parenting. However, as the debate intensifies with the younger son of the family doing the unthinkable, we see the parents questioning their mindset.

Family dramas used to be the bread and butter of the Hindi television landscape. Maybe it still is, but after a major chunk of the audience gravitated towards streaming platforms and said streaming platforms started making crime dramas, crime thrillers, and something or the other related to crime, it seemed like the era of the Great Indian Family Drama was over. But then, one fine day, I discovered Gullak, which had the complexities of the family dramas of yore, like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, while also being as funny as something like Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai. Instead of stretching each episode to 45–50 minutes, it limited itself to around 30 minutes per episode and used that time very efficiently to tell self-contained stories while having an overarching narrative. The first two seasons were slam dunks. The third season went too hard on the episodic storytelling while still managing to impact the viewers’ tear ducts.

Gullak Season 4 continues the series’ storytelling style by having an overarching narrative that’s spread across 5 short episodes, with each episode being centered around a self-contained incident that affects the characters in pivotal ways. The first episode of the show deals with the newly established tradition of bulldozing “illegal” homes and how that’s leading to an increase in bribery. The second episode is about chain-snatching and how women are expected to versus how they should react to such situations. The third episode is about throwing away old stuff from one’s house, and how it’s impossible to do so because of the memories attached to them. And the fourth episode is about teen love. Now, since the Mishra household is quite conservative in nature, they react to Aman’s “extracurricular” activities and blatant lies pretty aggressively and dramatically. When they see that their parental actions have dire consequences,...

Television actor Shashank Vyas feels that although the Ott space is soaring right now, if these platforms do not focus on content that suits the family audience, they will reach saturation point.
"There are shows which are normalising things like cursing and abusing. You need to know the audience also reaches a saturation point, you can have a brilliant season one, an amazing season two, but the third season will turn out to be boring for the audience. Even if you try to watch a good show filtered from such scenes or content, the advertisement before that will be such that even if you are not willing to watch it, you will have to. The Mishra's are back. Season 2 of the incredible Gullak by Tvf that streamed on SonyLIV is back and how! Gullak 2 is all set to premiere on SonyLIV from 15th January 2021.
Gullak 2 review
Things have somewhat changed in the Mishraji’s household. Elder son Annu (Vaibhav Raj Gupta) has unfortunately not been able to score at the Staff Selection Commission examination and Aman (Harsh Yar) is facing his board exams.
The rest is however the same in these five episodes of small little realistic slice of life gems.
Pati dev aka Husbandji Santosh (Jameel Khan) is the same honest clerk in the electricity department. Dharam Patni aka biwi matlab wife Shanti (Geetanjali Kulkarni) is making that chutney on that seel baata (grinding stone – for the English medium fellas).
These five kisse not kahani written by Durgesh Singh and helmed by Palash Vaswani are straight out of middle-class life, especially from the small town.
