Not Very Memorable, but Good
SourCandyOrNoCandy8 April 2022
This was definitely not the most memorable episode. The main case didn't grab me at all and wasn't very interesting. On another note, I really hope Chen keeps the tattoo.

Best parts of the episode?

  • "You can choose to see that tattoo as your greatest failure, but I see it as proof that you're a survivor. It wasn't your day of death Officer Chen, it was the first day of the rest of your life and no one can take that away from you." Whewww that gave me chillssss!

  • The integration of Abigail. I didn't like her the first time we met her, but she's really growing on me. When she made that last comment to Henry, it has me thinking that their relationship won't last. I think that I want it to, but part of me feels like it won't.

Worst part of the episode?

  • It just wasn't the most interesting one, but two big episodes like The Dark Side and Day of Death would be tough acts to follow.

Writer Error but otherwise good solid episode

Note: The turkey thing, not a myth. Ran turkey farms for years and we hired people to help cover them when it rained. Domestic turkeys are stupid and some will look up and drown. Other than that, a decent episode with lots of action and some decent character development.

The Ride-Along
claudio_carvalho1 November 2021
Harper convinces Bradford to let her go to patrol with Chen to help her overcome her trauma, and Tim reluctantly agrees. Meanwhile, Abigail is convinced that she wants to become a police officer and Nolan talks to Bradford that accepts to bring her on a ride-along. West has a problem after going to the red carpet with his boy-friend Sterling Freeman and be recognized on the streets by fans.

"Now and Then" is not a bad episode of "The Rookie". The storyline of Abigail is decent and the best part of the show. The attempt of Harper to recover Lucy is funny. My vote is eight.

The show does well with portraying PTSD
jharts74403 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Before last night's episode I think The Rookie writers did well portraying people with PTSD! And they continued in last night's episode with Lucy dealing with her trauma. PTSD does NOT get better overnight. It'll be interesting to see how they go forward with both Lucy and Wesley's PTSD. What I also love about this show is that there are surprising twists that you don't expect. Saw a whole other side to Henry and Abigale. Nolan's is a great dad. Of course, some cases are unrealistic for the drama, but most real cops thinks many of the scenarios are accurate.

Turkeys drowning in the rain....
hairboynt2 March 2020
Biggest stumbling block to this old wives' tale here is that turkeys don't have binocular vision, their eyes are on the SIDES of their heads--to look at anything a turkey will turn its head and use the eye on the nearest side--looking up they'd see nothing above them. This crazy old myth has been debunked countless times but it persists, I'm glad the writers for The Rookie are at least intelligent enough to do a little research, and that this old bit of "folk wisdom" only came out of the mouth of a burned out dealer in the episode.

Uhm ...going down hill

Warning: Spoilers
Still some good portrayal of sutrauma for rookie Chen. Who seems c to birder on trying to make it as a cop. That last 2 episodes to deep intense bonding and chsra with the serial killer was intense. Some of the script seems to vary from light superficial to deep in depth connections. I don't care for Abigail her naive fantasy about being an officer but it was good Nolan and Bradford exposed her to the reality and intensity of the job. The streets and criminala are not a joy ride. P 1Hopefully, that charcter is in the background. Perhaps the show gets a bit boring and predictablecat times. Some real issues arec still discussed.

2/3 solid episode now if they would just realize there audience doesn't appreciate the alternate life style content.
