Great dark-family-fantasy movie until the end.

The first 70 minutes are really good in its genre. It's darker than your usual family movie, but not too dark. The suspense is great, acting is acceptable for children, the vibe is unique. The last 20-25 minutes, however, is very amateurish, with bad CGI, bad action scenes, illogical acts.

All in all, it was worth watching for me, a lover of the whole fantasy-family genre.

Great build-up, awful culmination

I catched the movie on HBO right when the strange events started happening. The story does a great job in keeping you wondering what will happen next. It was absolutely fantastic untill the sequence in the windmill. The cause of the strange events was a bit ridiculous, and I really didn't expect a final fight. Also the happy ending doesn't correspond well with the overall tone of the movie, which is darker.

It's great in it's genre, but I just can't forgive the director for not realizing the potential of the story. It would make a great like thriller-horror movie to be honest.
