'Into the forest' 3/10 = Abandon 🌠🌠🌠

The first priority and main objective for shooting a found footage horror flick in one word would be realism. The actors should appear genuine or as natural as possible but "Into the forest" through out the entire film achieves the exact opposite. Whether it was a character screaming into oblivion shouting with fear that's inauthentic or watching someone have a fake seizure that wouldn't convince a 10yo. Nothing will ruin a found footage film quicker than losing the belief or feeling that it's real. In a genre that's heavily saturated for and by millennials too many filmmakers think if they use amateur or unknown actors and film using handheld or shaky camera effects it will give the movie a boost of realism. Usually it does but that's not the case if every scene comes across appearing forced or scripted. I wouldn't recommend this film for viewers and suggest steering clear of it entirely.

Disappointing

Thought i would give this a watch even though it had a low rating. The quality of the movie is good, i just wish that the story had been better, a whole lot better. The acting you get used to as i have seen worse .

You are waiting for something to happen in the plot all the way through from the random drunk guy to the dad that gets taken away. You get a snippet of what could be, then... nothing. There is no conclusion to the end of the story aside from keeping you hanging which is just frustrating and i just wished i hadn't bothered.

This uses found footage which is not my favorite but I do enjoy this movie overall. It's not super scary or anything it is just fun to watch as I talk to those apart of DBS.

Sweet jesus don't waste your time on this garbage, the scariest thing about this one hour movie is the guy wearing black socks pulled half way up to his knees with shorts on. Lol 🤣

I think the appropriate punishment of the persons involved in soliciting false 10 star reviews should be made to watch this film and, only this film until they confess or go mad. Awful and as frightening as a fuzzy puppy. Pathetic acting. The "twist" ending was anything but. Laughable. Hope anyone involved with this doesn't quit their day job

At times it was good

To start off I loved the found footage style, the characters were somewhat likeable, I however couldn't get past how Amy forgets her pills and the guy says "im not going back 3-4 hours to the cabin to get pills". But then when she has a reaction around 3am, the guy says "I'll be right back I'm going to grab the pills" then gets to the cabin, it's still pitch black outside, then he runs all the way back to the tents. Remind you he just traveled roughly 8 hours and he left around 3 am. It's still pitch black outside. They make it seem like he only ran 20 minutes back to the cabin. That was a huge flaw.

This film should not even be called a film, it's not fun, it's not even campy, it's everything you would hate in a movie all wrapped up into one ball of a script mess.

So called writers seem to want to cash in on The Blair Witch Project, and why after all these years? What's the point? That train seemed to have left long ago, 20 years ago to be exact. According rdomg to release date of this piece of garbage.

The actors are terrible, the scenes are garbage, the script seems to want to grapple the YouTube experience, but they can't even do that right.

Avoid this nonsense at all costs. Go watch something else. There is no character arch, there is nothing that matters in this film. This is a giant waste of time. Bad acting, bad camera direction, in fact someone should take the camera away from this director. This is not a director, this is an idiot trying to remake The Blair Witch Project 20 years later.

Like I said, that train is long gone.

As is so typical with these garbage found footage movies NOTHING HAPPENS!! You are not law and order,you can't bring everything to a cool,shocking head two minutes before the end (as l&o does. Freaking brilliantly!) But found footage?!?! Always trying to pull out some lame-o "shock" in the last five minutes,but I didn't care what happened in the hour and a half before,and your pathetic attempt at scariness at the last possible second constantly falls flat in that it isn't scary,interesting,or even well shot. Just dumbly ending a stupid,boring movie. And this movie is just that--an hour and a half of familial bickering,some tepid witch tale,and a lackluster ending and no resolution. I must have a secret machochistic side,because the stuff is torture. It's too late for me,I can't unsee this. But you have a chance. Save yourself.

Better if most F.F. films

Great energy in the entire film. I am no fan of Found Footage but this one grabs you with the energy the actors put into their parts. It kept my attention throughout the movie and thought it was great. Would have been better to see a bit more of what they were hunting.

We enjoyed watching this. We were a little worried about the bad user reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised! It even had a few scares! Very watchable characters weren't too bad either. Pretty good!

I love how this movie flowed it was really good had me on the edge of my seat most of the movie. Would of loved for more of a story line to go deep into the forest and dig up more of the past.

INTO THE FOREST documents the efforts of yet another paranormal ghost hunting team that wants to make it big on television as they enter a forest infamous for having a large number of people disappearing in it.

Yes, this is a low budget found footage movie featuring not so great acting, a well-worn concept if not a nonsensical story, and poor makeup effects. However, at 67 minutes, the movie is short, and the film-makers used this to tighten the story. That, in turn helped create and build tension.

The main characters are not as unlikable as in many comparable found footage movies, yet the actor who plays the father of the missing girl steals the show. His performance contributes to one of the most tense scenes in the movie, and yet that scene is only about midway through.

The apparently made-up mythology features an evil woman who decades ago kidnapped 13 kids and then killed everybody, including herself. I was amused when they said that a copy of the Codex Gigas ("Large Book"), also known as the Devil's Bible because of an unusually detailed portrait of the devil, was at that site and then presented what looked like a small booklet or leaflet to the camera. The Codex is a gigantic book, 36 inches long and 165 pounds heavy.

The ending was conventional and the final reveal a letdown, but in its place, this movie avoided a common bane of found footage horror movies, namely a slow pace and humdrum progression until things pick up toward the end, and I believe that counts for something.

I liked the girl in cabin 13 a lot and thought that was my favorite from this team but it is probably this one. I like the way the cameras are used to create unique shots and I found this cast to be the strongest of all these films. I'll definitely watch this one again.

I do love the found footage aspect of this movie. The acting was okay though, It didn't really bother me as much as some people reviewing are saying. My main dripes here are when they went into the woods and georgie was having a seizure. If she knew she had these issues, why wouldn't she have the pills with her? I do also feel like the character development/story could have been fleshed out a tad bit more.

Take a trip to the forest with these YouTubers. From real life health issues added into the movie to amazing jump scares. Yes could it have been made a bit better. I was at the edge of my seat. I'm a believer.

This movie was one of my favorite found footage films! The cursed forest with the warnings from locals gives this movie a lot of possibilities when it comes to sequels and series. As someone who is in the wilderness a lot it makes you think about what really is out there. The acting was great and the jump scares are placed well throughout the film. Highly recommend!

Creepy, Somewhat Intense, Kind of Weak

Definitely not a bad movie. I was oddly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Any time someone is caught in the woods in the dark there's usually a pretty good chance it's gonna be scary. The characters were somewhat unique, they weren't annoying like some groups in movies. The one guy was but it was kind of his job as a youtuber. I wish more had happened but there was enough intensity and creepy scenes to make up for a lack of actual visual effects. It's not a movie that's gonna stick in my head but it was decent. Acting pretty good, dialogue fairly good, storyline ok, scenes ok-good. It's not a hit but it's definitely not deserving of 1 star. Some people just have incredibly high expectations. Some blood but no gore or nudity.

This film was a good horror film overall! I can honestly say it wasn't my favorite DBS horror film/indie film, but I do think it was a good horror movie for beginner horror people! I think the actor's scripts were realistic and plausible which I always love! I also loved the musical choices for this film as well!

Why so much hate on this? I enjoyed it!

Im not sure why there is so much hate on this one. I guess if you dont like found footage than you wont appreciate what they were trying to do in this one. I do think it lacked some story development. I wanted more scares but all in all for an indie movie it was good.

I really loved the overall idea and storyline. I think the intro scene kind of lacked and didn't peak my interest very much. That being said I really do like this movie. I think the actors did a great job and they all seemed to get along very well and seemed like an actual team. The nephew/uncle did great and were convincing. Jimmy was my favorite character the actor that played him really brought it to life. I really love found footage and this was great. The movie is slow in some spots but it does have some really good scares. You wouldn't catch me anywhere close to Rudwick Forest after watching this one.

Not the biggest fan of found footage but this wasn't too bad, I kinda wish we would've seen the witch instead of just hearing her say "I killed them both" I will say tho I honestly ended up hating Jimmy, the fact he was more worried about getting footage instead of making sure his sister had her meds really irked me not to mention the fact he wouldn't shut up about being famous and then proceeded to lie about having a contract just really made me feel bad for his sister and her patner.
