What a boring movie it was
maskeycar7 June 2020
It was a cheap low budget movie. I regret watching it. The movie is super slow. And cheap acting, everything is boring. Even the ghost is boring.

Wow...Just Wow
glenndrury113 June 2020
We watch a lot of horrors...a lot of good horrors, a lot of bad horrors...but this...Wow...I can't work out whether the people who have given this more than 1 stars were part of the production crew or being ironic...either way, it is one of the more dire films I have ever seen. The productions values are atrocious, the acting is cripplingly poor and the premise and story line narrative just didn't make sense. Some horrors are so bad that they become good but this is just bad bad. 1 hour and 12 minutes of my life consigned to sheer mediocrity....Wow. The real Annabelle is shaking her head in disappointment as this effort.

The Name
alexhenderson-1171111 October 2019
A mix of Annabelle, and The Lords of Salem. And yeah. This movie sucks. Cheap effects, and that's it. Its a movie that's made to trick people to buying this, instead of the Annabelle movies. Go watch those instead, you'll jump, and actually have a little satisfaction at the end, instead of feeling robbed of time.

Why a 3.6 rating when none under 6 shown?

I guess since it is an independent, it's getting sandbagged.

Squandered promise with a very strong ending for rip-off_adequate horror flick
Galaxian9226 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So, I just seen, this intricate rip-off of the Annabelle franchise name, and let me say... I actually warented promise of this throughout. Yes, seriously.

The start of the film had a great intro score and eerie setup, followed by a gosh awfully done open scene that made me ugh and roll my own eyes then immediately followed up by one of the most impressive and emotionally wrapping intro credits for a low-budget horror movie. The music by Keaton James Thompson is honestly captivating and morose as it intercuts some brilliant artwork by with the feel of the tone this movie has set up. Once the film began, however, I was assaulted by annoying cross cut editing that kept interrupting pace and all flow of the plot. Once the film actually gets "scary" is when I became truly impressed with this production.

The good: The music is the best element to this motion pic; the score complements the scenes of scare quite evenly; the second thing is the acting {suprisingly}). Each one of the actors (save for the guy portraying the security guard who was flat and had the worst writing of all the people there) gave their all encapsulating the dread, confusion, and terror in their faces whenever the fright strikes. Also, when it comes down to it, the directing by Craig Rees manages to successfully (not complete all frames) convey uneasiness, wareiness, subliminal euphoria (a little overdone with the blue visions of the stairs tbh), and creepiness... overall, this was creepy. I have to say production design and lighting was standard up until the final moments of the movie, where it started to increasingly better itself.

The fine: The writing. Just okay in most spots where it would garnish a scare or jump scare but never does to even character motives and decisions by TWO characters in the movie made me upset and furiated, to when the scares happen it is good to great to kinda thoughtful.

The bad: The editing , is the main culprit here; since the beginning of the movie, the numerous inserts of random segways and cutaways to scenes of people just walking around the museum, marked by jump cuts of the music as the abruptly end suddenly to start up again, long stretches of silence and subdued terror made this a problematic notion for me. Furthermore, it was NOT scary. One spot that held my attention was during the scene where it (unfortunately) followed the security guard around THE ENTIRE building }}almost} and he comes across this mannequin of a Spanish soldier. He longingly stares directly into its eyes as the camera cuts back and forth between his reaction to the mannequin' face, all with out sounds or music. This would warrant a proper jump scare that would have made sense and scared me but instead they lazily just have him yell and say 'got ya didnt I?". I got pissed and wanted so bad to turn it off. The film just kept holding attention to things that were oblivious to the story at hand, which made little use of its time as there were several detours in through and all over that kept going nowhere. The constant cuts and\or fades to blacks every couple of minutes made me close to shutting it off.... then the ending happened!....

The one most interesting element or elements of the entire movie is (and I am being 100% honest here, despite my low rating of this film, cause they DID try) the last whole 20 MINUTES of the movie.. it felt like the prouction to the directing of the scenes and actors, to the acting itselves, to the lighting to the suspense and story structure to the mention of the doll' background was horror 101, obviously, but it was invigorating! To the way the main protagonit, David, cowers throughout the hallways hiding and decoding the location of the doll, Annabellum, to the telling of the mythos story of the doll in David's words of the letters ws just immeasurable. His inflection of his voice kept getting weaker and more vulnerable with every foundation of clues he read next. This reminded me closely of Silent Hill and Resident Evil games where characters would find graphs or letters of events long happened that kept the players interest. It certainly did mine. It was kind of inspired. The film ends off with David dying from his possessed receptionist who kills herself, and his niece (corrupted by the doll) goes after the nephew, eventually killing him too. The next morning, detectives take the kid back to her parents and she proceeds to kill them too followed by a shot of her lying ground }presumably living though possible dead} with Annabellum right beside her.. erm, I mean Anna of Bellum :/ ugh. Forhtwhile, all this scene is inter-cut within the end credits to "create a mid-credits tag scene" that just doesn't work that way and should have been implemented into the end of the film as a result _and did I mention it is all done with sepia_toned stills of abandoned town that lead to the parents house that goes on for over a minute long? So weird.

Once the scares DO happem, it is done with just the right amount of subtlty and taste to which the director and producers SHOULD be commended for, because they tried their hand and mostly failed (or faultered) yet but managed to properly segway into a forthright horror flick that rides the line between horrifying and awkward. It is completely a squandered promise with a very strong ending for a rip-off.. an adequate horror flick. socame into it, sees intent and attempt was at a 6 or 7, it being a rip-off down to certain visuals and details gave it a 5, poor editing and randomness gave it a 4, and the masterful ending that could have salvaged this AT a four was slightly punctured by the endcredit issue that makes this a 3.5 (not quite a 3.6) for ME. If you have seen it and gave/give it a higher rating, go ahead. It is worthy of just that.

Anyone who HASN'T seen this (if you havenot then why are you reading a spoiler review? kidding, he), I honestly recommend you check this out. It is sort-kinda worth it. It is boring, but not trash, and it was well-done. That is the best thought-of complement I can think of right for this now. D

Someone wants to say "hello"
nogodnomasters22 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not much Salem in the film. Story about a cursed Salem doll that makes its way to a British Museum with deadly consequences. The doll looked creepy enough. The rest of the story was horrible with much of it being read to the audience in monotone. Another Anna doll film to avoid.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity

Very Little Effort Movie
billymfranklin29 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Well...What can I say, this was a low budget, low effort and certainly subpar acting all tied in a bow of an Annabelle ripoff. Now I know we should cut child actors some slack however, The little boy seemingly forgets his acting expertise as he goes the wrong way in his first moving scene.

I also feel that the repeated use of scenes brings down the quality of the movie by several levels, which could have been prevented very easily. If I were to put this movie under a category, it would certainly not be a horror. I would classify this as a documentary and I would not reccomend.

The location of the film is a town local to me, and I feel that it is a great injustice to our community.

Watching this movie, (if it can even be called that), i felt deeply offended as an actor. The representation of the art of acting by these people hurt me to the core, and it was difficult to watch the movie without filing a complaint to both the museum in which it was filmed and the directors themselves.

Overall the film is a low quaility rip-off made by low quality directors and acted by amateur actors. I mainly enjoyed laughing at how bad the scenes were acted.

1/10 . Do not watch
gheamadison13 January 2024
The movie was incredibly boring . Took way too long to get to the plot and even when it did it was nowhere near scary . I've seen episodes of Mickey Mouse scarier than this . Waste of time , do not recommend . Very poor quality as well. The acting was not too terrible, but the so called "gore " was incredibly underwhelming. Very easy to tell it was cheap makeup . The credits took up half the movie and where so boring it made me want to immediately turn it of and do something worth my time.everything in this was very poor . Even the plot itself ,poorly executed . I see the vision but it was very badly directed . Was super dissatisfied.

never be given a creepy old doll because you never know what might happen
clivehalls12 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Just watched this on demand and it was a well crafted horror that gives us a new doll franchise with a doll that is creepy as hell. The film follows a family who get trapped in an old mansion style museum, but little do they know a curse has taken place on a doll that has been locked away for years. Some good suspense by the director and solid acting along with a tight script gives way to a film that is set for more sequels in the future based on the ending.

NOT BAD THRILLER
jamesstraw-4241120 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
With 2019 being the year of the doll movies i thought i would check out this new one which sounds similar to ANNABELLE but the doll in my opinion is way more intense than the actual ANNABELLE doll. So down to the movie, so a well crafted doll scare that has many good things going for it, but the best for me is that this feels like a new franchise and in many ways is the start of something greater down the road. The story offers flashback artwork images that were cool and narrated well to bring you into the story and realize that this is just the start of this doll franchise which i would love to go toe to toe with ANNABELLE and CHUCKY. You never know if the other films happen.

THIS DOLL IS SCARIER THAN ANNABELLE
Horrorman7812 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So just got done watching this new indie horror and i have to say i was very impressed with the film. It starts with a dope intro and really cool artwork that blends into a creepy doll ANNA-BELLUM who i think is scarier than the doll in the Annabelle series. That being said this i feel is more of an introduction to the doll and sets up nicely what will come for later films, although the pace of the film was good and the tension was there and i appreciated the leg smashing scene as it was not gore but more what you do not see but done very well at the same time. For sure this doll should go up against Annabelle as it would kick its ass lol

Cool doll movie
amybrown-6558116 August 2019
So just after watching Annabelle i checked out the U.K version with this new doll flick and it was fun! The old doll is super cool and scary and the setting was awesome and sets up nicely a new doll franchise to rival Annabelle.

Another doll movie to add to my collection and it held my attention the whole time, a quick paced thriller that had some cool stuff going for it well worth the $3.99!

steveshaw-5950029 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This new doll flick had more potential i feel but i guess it is left open for a follow up as the post credits set that up. So the film was decent it had some good ideas but could have been a bit more intense in places, not that is was intense but maybe that is in the next film but all said a good watch.

A 9 FOR THE HATERS
horrorfanatic21 October 2019
When haters try and destroy a film the simple way to get back is laugh as they always will hate and know that there problems are more serious than they like to think. The simple fact is i would have give this flick a 7 but decided 9 just because i can! Plus the pace of the film kept me and i will check out the next indie on my list.

Not so bad.
travisberg9 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So i was curious about this movie and i like the poster and the name so how is the film? Well it was a half decent attempt the house was awesome or the museum should i say and it worked for the setting of this lower budget fare. It does not have the effects of the studio type ANNABELLE franchise but it does set up a nice horror offering with super cool artwork at the intro. The only down side was the runtime but when watching felt longer so not to shabby in the end.

Not as good as Annabelle but still good.
kurthall-3700311 October 2019
So we checked this new doll flick out and it was not as intense as the ANNABELLE franchise but for an indie was good. There were some cool features and the doll is quite scary especially the eyes and there was just enough horror to keep us intrigued.
