- The mother, freaks out when she finds her 13-going-on-14 year old daughter talking to an older man (Larry). She scolds him for talking to her ("she's 13!") and then they retreat to the car, where the mother has a panic attack as the contemplates losing her daughters to unscrupulous men.

- Helen/Cass has two daughters and they both go exploring a building under construction. Her oldest discovers a ritualistic display of a splayed animal with a wreath around its head and its belly sliced open, a baby doll posed below it (representing good oemsn for birth, perhaps -- or inviting bad omens to induce a miscarriage, more likely). Later they find out Jess is pregnant and this symbolism relates to her impending birth.
