Sex & Nudity

  • Small innuendos here and there. Nothing too bad. The great fairies have a suggestive amount of cleavage, and have suggestive behavior towards Link.
  • Link can add and remove clothes at the players will, however you can only strip down to his underwear, which are more like boxer shorts.
  • There is an optional "spa plan" in one of the towns, during which the screen fades to black and suggestive sounds are played, such as sensual laughter and wet slaps. Nothing is shown, however.

Violence & Gore

  • Violence is mostly the same as the previous game. Enemies puff into dust when defeated. Along with animals when hunted. Very mild blood.

Profanity

  • None, other than very mild things like, "What the-" etc.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Plants can be found around the map that will cause Link to have different effects on his body. (For example, certain mushrooms will cause his body to glow in the dark) However, there are no plants or effects that display any kinds of intoxication.
  • There's a drink in the game called Noble pursuit that's implied to have alcohol. Nothing happens when consumed by the player

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Ganondorf is much more frightening and scary than in any of the previous games. Within the first 10 minutes of gameplay, we see him. His body contorts and his bones snap into different places, and that's not even getting into the horrific acts he commits throughout the game, which will no doubt scare some younger audiences.
  • A character is punched to death by Ganondorf. The first onscreen death from The Breath of the Wild series.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • One character named Mineru has a very revealing outfit that shows her entire midriff and a moderate amount of cleavage.

Violence & Gore

  • A character is punched to death in a cutscene. While it's only one punch that kills her, the sound of the impact, the sounds of her backbone snapping, and her gasping for breath is very dark in nature.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Ganondorf's mummified body is shown at the start of the game with a creepy song from the soundtrack playing. A character is killed onscreen in a cutscene, when the killer takes what his victim has, he laughs with a creepy smile. A different character transforms into a dragon with no turning back. There's monsters made of a darkish-red substance called "gloom" that can turn into hands and attack the player. This is by far the darkest game in The Legend of Zelda series in recent years.
  • A benevolent character in the game is brutally killed by Ganondorf. She is punched in the back, breaking her spine. The facial animation and the sounds produced by her are frightening. Ganondorf then smiles in a very unsettling manner and laughs. One of the darkest scenes in the game.
  • In the final battle, Gannondorf pulls his secret stone out his forehead in order to become a dragon and bubbling blood is seen on his face as a result.
  • There is an overworld boss called the "gloom hands" which are red hands that chase the player around the map and once they have a hold of him, grab him and slowly take away his hearts. If you do manage to defeat it , you will encounter the Phantom Ganon fight, which is more or less the same concept as the previous, but the eyes on the hands and the music that plays during the fight can be scary to some.
