  [Kara looks around, realizing she's in her memory] 

  Lena Luthor : Don't look so scandalized, Kara. You know how cynical I can be.

  [seeing her look] 

  Lena Luthor : Is everything okay?

  Kara Danvers : You shouldn't have to be so cynical. You're good and righteous, and... and the tragedy is, the world has made you cynical because you've been betrayed so many times. By your mother, by your brother... and now, by me.

  Lena Luthor : What are you talking about?

  Kara Danvers : [moving to sit next to her]  I'm not who you think I am. I'm Supergirl.

  [taking off her glasses] 

  Kara Danvers : I never meant to deceive you. I just didn't know how to tell you.

  [an alarm sounds] 

  Kara Danvers : You stay here. I'll deal with this.

  [she speeds away; after a brief fight, she returns]

  Kara Danvers : [watching with Mxy in her lot]  What happened? Where'd she go?

  Mxyzptlk : Ah. Events are unfolding differently now. Oh, boy. Um, I need to catch up.

  [snapping] 

  Mxyzptlk : Ah, there she is.

  Kara Danvers : She went to Metropolis.

  [seeing who Lena is with] 

  Kara Danvers : Oh, my god. She went to see Sam.

• Mxyzptlk : So, three years of friendship. Where did it go wrong?

  [she picks up an empty popcorn bucket; he snaps, and she jumps as it magically fills up]

  Kara Danvers : When Lena told me that she knew I was Supergirl, she was furious.

  Mxyzptlk : Yeah.

• Kara Danvers : What could I possibly need your help for?

  [Mxy snaps his fingers] 

  Lena Luthor : [on the TV]  I killed my brother for you, for our friends! Don't you understand what you've done?

  Mxyzptlk : Your best friend thinks that she is your enemy. And the worst part... it's your fault. You hid the truth from her. You let her find out from that sadist, Lex, and now, you think, she could be capable of anything.

  Kara Danvers : What's your point?

  Mxyzptlk : My point, toots, is this.

  Kara Danvers : [he walks across the furniture]  Careful.

  Mxyzptlk : I am offering you a do-over. Hmm? I can send you back in time. Wouldn't you like to be able to tell Lena that you're Supergirl on your own terms? Wouldn't you like to see... what the world would look like if you controlled the narrative?

• Mxyzptlk : Okay. So we're looking for a moment where you made your best friend feel like a big, dumb idiot, yeah?

  Kara Danvers : In so many words.

  Mxyzptlk : Okay. Well, we have an embarrassment of riches.

• Kara Danvers : Mxy, can you please take this seriously?

  Mxyzptlk : If we're going to take the fun out of stuff, let's really do it.

  Kara Danvers : [he starts fast-forwarding]  Wait, wait, wait. Wait! You're skipping a lot!

  Mxyzptlk : This is all exposition, so much exposition.

• Kara Danvers : [watching a memory with Lena]  Ugh. This is awful! I'm awful!

  Mxyzptlk : You're awful.

  [she looks at him indignantly] 

  Mxyzptlk : I was just agreeing with you. I would never say that.

• Mxyzptlk : But now I can't use any of my powers except to help those whom I have wronged.

  Alex Danvers : Oh, how sad for you.

  Alex Danvers : Yes. A tragedy of Shakespearean proportions.

• Kara Danvers : My dual identities made Lena think that she couldn't trust either side of me. I was a hypocrite.

  Mxyzptlk : Okay, so, when exactly did this kryptonite-fueled tete-a-tete happen?

  Kara Danvers : Ah... it was... it was, uh, just after we found out that Lena was housing Reign.

  Supergirl : [on the tape]  Lena, the Worldkillers are coming. We have to get you someplace...

  Kara Danvers : Mmm, skip forward.

  Mxyzptlk : Skip.

  [he fast-forwards through various scenes] 

  Kara Danvers : See, there? This fight...

  Mxyzptlk : Mm-hmm.

  Kara Danvers : ...is what I'm trying to avoid.

  Mxyzptlk : Okay.

  Kara Danvers : So, go back.

  [he rewinds, and she watches herself asking James to investigate Lena's kryptonite stock] 

  Kara Danvers : Ah, I never should have done that. Um... yeah, it has to be before this.

  Mxyzptlk : Yeah, hang on, before.

  Kara Danvers : We have to go back further. Here!

  Mxyzptlk : Yep.

  Lena Luthor : My friend came to me. She was alone and afraid. I had to do something.

  Supergirl : I need you to level with me. Do you have any more kryptonite?

  Kara Danvers : This is it. This is the moment that Lena started to distrust Supergirl. This is when I have to tell her.

• Kara Danvers : I forgot.

  Mxyzptlk : Yeah.

  Kara Danvers : The Worldkillers started an eclipse that day.

  Mxyzptlk : Mm-hmm. So, you forgot the... forgot the eclipse, and then you also forgot the kryptonite bomb. You know what we're not gonna do? We're not gonna rely on your memory anymore for maybe, like, big, important details.

  [she scoffs indignantly] 

  Mxyzptlk : Just saying. We got to try something else.

• Kara Danvers : All right, so, how does this work?

  Mxyzptlk : I will show you relevant parts of your life. You'll tell me when to pause, I will snap...

  [pantomiming in demonstration] 

  Mxyzptlk : ...like thus, sending you back. You will change history. Once you have confronted Lena, you will come back, we will watch from your loft and the safety of your couch. If you are comfortable with the domino effect...

  [he claps, and an old-school film projector appears] 

  Mxyzptlk : ...I will then snap again, at which point it will become reality.

• Mxyzptlk : I get it. You don't trust me. Okay, but how's this? Ready?

  [offering a tape recorder] 

  Mxyzptlk : Now, by Fifth Dimensional law, I am required to give you this recording of me saying my name backwards, in case you ever need to banish me to my Fifth Dimension, which I know that you...

  [taking it, Kara immediately presses "play"] 

  Mxyzptlk : [on the recording]  Kltpzyxm.

  [he vanishes] 

  Lena Luthor : [on the TV]  I'm not a villain. You shouldn't have treated me like one.

  J'onn J'onzz : [entering]  Hey, girls. What's going on?

• Kara Danvers : Oh, okay.

  Mxyzptlk : Ah.

  Kara Danvers : Let's go to before Mercy attacks.

  Mxyzptlk : Right there?

  Kara Danvers : Mm-hmm.

  Mxyzptlk : You sure?

  Kara Danvers : Yes.

  Mxyzptlk : Don't mess it up.

• Alex Danvers : Okay, I'm sorry, I'm confused. This is your all-powerful Fifth-Dimensional stalker?

  Kara Danvers : No. I don't know who this is.

  Mxyzptlk : Okay, I only took on that other form and sophisticated accent to impress you. But it worked. You caught me.

  [he snaps his fingers] 

  Mxyzptlk : [on the TV]  You tricked me.

  Supergirl : No, I followed the rules. You say your name backwards, you go back to the Fifth Dimension, no questions asked.

  Mxyzptlk : Ah, I miss that hair. I really, really do.

• Kara Danvers : Tell me who you are and what you want, now.

  [Mxy snaps his fingers, and on her TV, she sees the memory of their first encounter] 

  Mxyzptlk : I'm your one true love, your soul mate, your one true pairing, as the kids say. My name is Mxyzptlk, and I love you Kara, Zor-El.

  Kara Danvers : Okay. If you...

  [gasping as she sees him sitting Indian-style on her kitchen island] 

  Alex Danvers : Oh, come on.

• J'onn J'onzz : Kara, are you sure you can trust Mxy?

  Kara Danvers : No. But the tape recorder worked. I... I could always just use it to get him to go away.

  Alex Danvers : All right, listen to me. If you really think that this is your best chance to set things right with Lena before she hurts somebody... then do it.

  Kara Danvers : Okay. Uh... how do I do this? Um...

  Mxyzptlk : [materializing in and climbing out of her fridge]  Thank Zook you changed your mind. Yes, I'm still working on eavesdropping. That's a problem.

• Kara Danvers : I've always been so afraid to reveal my identity to the world, but look, it saved Lena. Maybe... just maybe, this... this is the timeline to stick with. Let's...

  Mxyzptlk : I see why you would think that, but, um, maybe we should skip ahead to the ending?

  Kara Danvers : Oh, no. What happens?

  Reporter : [Mxy snaps]  After Supergirl's identity was released to the world, Agent Liberty and his followers targeted each of Supergirl's friends, including her former employer Cat Grant...

  Kara Danvers : Oh, no, no, no. No.

  Reporter : ...one by one. There were no survivors.

  Kara Danvers : All right, all right, enough. Stop. Stop. I don't wanna see anymore. Please turn it off, please.

• Supergirl : [entering a dystopian reality]  What happened? Where are we?

  Mxyzptlk : Where your loft used to be.

  Supergirl : [picking up a charred, framed picture]  You know what? No, thanks. Nope. I don't need to see it.

  Mxyzptlk : Yeah.

  Supergirl : Can you just snap us out of here?

  Mxyzptlk : Yep. With pleasure.

  [as he snaps, nothing happens] 

  Supergirl : [he continues trying]  What's happening?

  Mxyzptlk : I can't feel the Fifth Dimension at all. Without my powers...

  Supergirl : We're stuck here?

• Dreamer : Look who I found.

  Alex Danvers : [hugging]  Oh, Kara, thank god you're here.

  J'onn J'onzz : Who's this?

  Supergirl : Oh, this is my friend, Mxyzptlk.

  Mon-El : Mxyzptlk?

  Supergirl : Yeah.

  Mon-El : What, you thought with a new face, we wouldn't recognize the same old you? This is the guy who tried to make Kara marry him.

  Supergirl : It's fine, Mon-El. Because he is reformed... and he's actually helping me.

  Mxyzptlk : Uh, no... you know what? No, Mon-El is right. Okay? It was despicable of me to pursue a woman who so clearly was not interested in me from the get-go. I misread the room, and I'm gonna be better. It's tough to be an imp. And I'm gonna try for the rest of my days. So, maybe we can let the past be the past, huh?

• Mxyzptlk : [animatedly, a la an old-time radio broadcast]  Only months after publicly declaring their partnership, the formidable duo of Supergirl and Lena Luthor have already cleaned up National City's criminal element. This pair is literally unstoppable! Not to mention fashionable, after Lena convinced Supergirl to cut the hair of steel, and gave her a new suit to boot. But their next adversary is Lillian Luthor herself, and this time, their battleground is a courtroom. Emotions. Drama. Will they persevere?

• Kara Danvers : Lena was never angry about hypocrisy. She was angry because I never shared my identity with her in the first place.

  Mxyzptlk : Uh-huh.

  Kara Danvers : So, you know what that means? We have to go back to the very beginning.

  Mxyzptlk : Give me a date and a time, I will make it so.

  Kara Danvers : Um, let me think

  Mxyzptlk : Hang on a second.

  [showing her "Mxyflyx" on his laptop] 

  Mxyzptlk : It's just, it's buffering. This happens sometimes. It's the interdimensional WiFi. You know what? It doesn't even matter. I've got your entire friendship on BetaMyx.

• Supergirl : Okay, we can still fix this.

  Mxyzptlk : I need my powers.

  Supergirl : Mm-hmm.

  Mxyzptlk : But since we've been here...

  [snapping] 

  Mxyzptlk : ...they've disappeared.

  Mon-El : That must be because Lena tapped into the Fifth Dimensional energy to use it to power her police robots.

  Alex Danvers : And as long as she's harnessing the Fifth Dimension, then you can't access it.

  Winn Schott : I worked at L-Corp for about two years before Lena found me out. Uh, we caught a criminal. He didn't have a name, but he had a hat that he could pull anything out of.

  Mxyzptlk : Old drinking buddy of mine. I lost that hat to him in a poker game. That hat contains a lot of Fifth Dimensional magic.

  Supergirl : So, if we get you the hat...

  Mxyzptlk : Get me the hat, I can make all of this go...

  [snapping] 

  Mon-El : Bye-bye.

  [as the electricity crackles, everyone is knocked backwards by Reign crashing through a window] 

  Reign : Surrender the imp or die!

• Kara Danvers : I know it didn't turn out the way we expected, but you... you still helped me, Mxy. You freed me from my burden of guilt, so...

  [giving him his tape recorder back] 

  Kara Danvers : Go, be free. Use your magic to do whatever it is you do.

  Mxyzptlk : Thank you. Um... and, uh, I should say, uh... before I met you, I was, um... I was pretty lonely. You know, and in that pain, I... I would tend to sort of force myself... on people, and, uh... out there with you today, saving the world, I felt like, um... I felt like I was liked for being me. I felt like I had friends. And, uh... it's true what you said, Kara. That magic... can't be forced. It has to be found.

  Kara Danvers : I'm proud of you, Mxy. Thanks for everything.

  Mxyzptlk : You're welcome. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to Mardi Gras in the '80s. The 1780s.

• Mxyzptlk : So, it ain't over 'til it's over. So, now, we've gotta find a time for you to go back and tell Lena the truth. You ready for one more go?

  Kara Danvers : No.

  [seeing him anxiously wanting to snap] 

  Kara Danvers : No. Absolutely not! I realize now that it doesn't matter when I tell Lena the truth. There will always be consequences. Huge ones. If I can't go back and snap my mistakes away, I'm just gonna have to live with them.

• Ben Lockwood : Thomas Coville wants you to believe that National City's resident Kryptonian is someone worth worshipping, worth dying for. Is Supergirl a god? I'm not sure about that. Not sure about that. When she goes home at night, did you know that she lives a secret human life? Until today. Until today, because today, Supergirl will reveal her identity to the world, or... Coville and Ms. Luthor will die.

  Lena Luthor : No. Supergirl, don't do it!

  Ben Lockwood : So, Supergirl, one hour of breathable oxygen. The, uh, clock starts now.

  Mxyzptlk : [watching with Kara]  What are you gonna do? Uh... no spoilers. I'm loving this.
