Getting slightly better, but...

What's with Supergirl wearing a ton of makeup in Season 5? Oddly, her human alter ego wears less.

Just put my brain into idle for most of the episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Aside from a couple of good character exchanges not really a great episode. Even the reveal of William Dey's supposedly true intentions coupled with a rather nauseating real opinion of Kara, lost a lot of the potential "drama". The delivery had more ham and cheese than a plate full of toasties. Frankly at the best of times the scripts for these shows are incredibly paint by numbers. But it never helps when they are delivered with little to no originality.

A what's with camera prop? If Jimmy's dad really was supposed to have given him that semi modern digital camera, then he must of had a time machine in the basement. Photography props coupled with retro sound effects always annoy me in tv shows. But this was just lazy from the props department.

PREDICTABLE

"Kara's investigation into William Dey's "criminal" activities results in the SHOCKING revelation he is not who she thinks." OMG, I bet NO ONE saw it coming ... such a surprise, right? ... The only good think in this episode was Kara and Nia working together. That's a real good team.

I love these characters so much. Nia and Kara are a great team. Lena and brainy steal my heart. The acting was well done . I am so worried for Lena but seeing Kara act...like a total dork in front of Lena brought me back to the old Kara it was so adorable and dorky haha. I love the Olsens dynamic. I'm sure we will see jimmy again! All in all i liked this episode i think it pushed all the character relationships in the right direction. We will see what happens. I'm so worried for Lena tho !

Action Packed

I thought it was a great episode. Lots of action. I don't believe Lena is bad, but if you're going that direction, at least make it impactful. She doesn't do anything in small measures. Alex (Chyler) was drop-dead gorgeous tonight. And I love Alex/J'onn scenes.

Ever more "chick flicky" ...

Who came up with the brilliant idea of writing Brainiac 5 to act like a hormonal 14-year-old girl?

A super-powered mind-controlling Martian sociopath is on the loose trying to kill us... but sure, let's take some time out to talk about how worried I am about my girlfriend and how my work might put her in danger...

We need someone really smart to decode this, but I can't ask my 9th-level intellect boyfriend because he just doesn't UNDERSTAND me....

CW writers, is it really that difficult to write adult super-hero characters who act like grownups?

Please do not make Lena a villain 😭

Great episode. No any SJ agendas as from beginning of S5. Hyped for J'onn and Malefic story more, Wasn't fan of Jimmy Olsen but pity he is leaving. They removed this cringe cgi so was glad. Hyped for next epidode when Kara will be prevent those disasters. Also started to like William now.

But really Lena specially programmed Phantom Zone projector to send Malefic to L-corp to make mind wiping tech ? Please no 😭😭

Monitor Destroyed the Wrong Earth

Warning: Spoilers
I continue to struggle to keep watching this show. The Hallmark moments just get worse while the villains get more campy. Kara has underwent a makeover which apparently includes stage makeup that Zsa Zsa Gabor would envy. James and Kelly take off to their home and immediately encounter a mystery because Rao forbid any character go ten minutes without any drama.

  • I have never seen anyone look shiftier at a crime scene than William Dey, and the police on the scene must really be terrible at their jobs.

  • Malefic incepted Alex. No one ever saw that coming, what a shock. Oh my goodness.

  • The actor who plays Brainy does a tremendous job, as I would be thoroughly annoyed by anyone else's mini-breakdown involving his relationship.

  • Lena, who has played a sensible brilliant scientist willing to die for her friends the first four seasons has apparently underwent a lobotomy on her summer vacation and has now kidnapped a dangerous criminal in her quest to master mind control.

  • William Dey is undercover and investigating Rojas? Gee, none of us ever saw that coming. Oh em gee, color us supremely shocked. Okay. We get that he's not the person Kara thought he was, but was that overly-saccharine speech about how Kara is a goddess and the best writer and most kind-hearted person in the world really necessary? Like Lena, can't the writers maybe ease us into the 180 degree personality switch? Ugh.

  • James is finally gone. Score one for this episode. Don't get me wrong, I do not dislike James, I just don't think he ever quite found his place on this show. He was Superman's friend, then he was Kara's friend, but he never made much of an impact on the show. His lack of chemistry with any other character and his lackluster storylines didn't do him any favors, so I wish him the best in Calvintown. Maybe he won't be so overshadowed there and can make an actual difference.

I want to like this show. I even have episodes I have thoroughly enjoyed. I just can't get past the inconsistencies and I now suffer from whiplash from certain characters' sudden personality and morality changes. Bring back Sam Witwer. He was the best thing that ever happened to the show, villain or not.

Not particularly good

The characters felt distinctly OOC and so far the third weakest episode of season five to be honest.
