Dirty Cops
BOOKSMART17 July 2020
If you are a action movie fan then you would love this film; it has car chases, good choreographed fights, although the fights are a bit of gore, The action scenes are solid, if not spectacular.. The story is plain and with few simple characters: A wicked cop willing to climb the precinct corporate ladder no matter what and with no qualms for murder and a wizard mechanic in preparing cars to make it go fast to chase offenders gets hired by the police. Both get embattled in a fight for all or nothing. Fun and action is what this movie offers.

A silly movie that takes itself way too seriously
betjarf24 June 2020
So apparently drug dealers in France race around in fast cars. French police have no other choice than to assemble a death race/mad max unit that rams bad guys off the road Need for speed-style. This actually sounds like an awesome premise. Sadly, they only had the budget for two car chases, so the middle of the film is just a filler, with our uncharismatic protagonist running from crooked cops trying to clear his name. If you've ever seen an episode of German TV show "Cobra 11" - well, this is similar, only dragged out. Car chase in the end is fun, with good stuntwork and no crappy CGI. If only the filmmakers understood the ridiculousness of it all and threw in some humour - it could have been a lot more fun.

Great action, good plot, one big problem
markasikes10 July 2020
It's clear the actors are speaking French. That's ok, the English overdubs are done well. But whoever did the closed-captioning must have lived on a different continent and never talked to the vocal actors, not even once. That's the only explanation I can find for how the captions are totally, laughably different. I turn captions on especially for action movies in case I miss some dialog. It really gets in the way here because the dialog is completely different between captions and what's said in English. A fair number of movies have this issue, but it's the sign of a totally low-budget flick or else complete brainless inattention to this issue. I would tell Netflix in my review, but that lame streaming service doesn't allow for that kind of feedback. Just thumbs up or down now. So it gets my thumbs down, even though otherwise the movie isn't too bad.

9 Stars. THIS is how you make a movie!

If you're expecting to see some sappy, boring, poorly-written and contrived Hollywood action flick, you're gonna be sorely disappointed. Guillaume Pierret is a director to be reckoned with. This film is so taut, there is not a single frame wasted on trivial dialogue or scenes that don't propell the story forward faster than a speeding bullet. If you're familiar with my reviews, you know that I don't spare many films my wrath. Trust me, you're gonna like this one...or you've lost your way.

Watchable action movie

Watchable action movie about cars and a corruption plot . Though not much dialogue from the main actor he had some cool choreographed moves . A different approach but movie should have been called the mechanic!

Slightly better than expected.

I was afraid of finding an ANTIGANG crap like movie; remember this flick shown five years ago and starring the same Alban Lenoir, with Jean Reno, also an action crime thriller, but light minded oriented. the trailer of BALLE PERDUE let us be scared about it. But no, except the opening scene - with the hilarious missed heist of the jewelry store - that could announce the worst, this film is not like ANTIGANG. It is an action thriller, crime flick, but not crime drama, because you have no real character study here, not really I mean, but rather a classic framed scheme, with the good guy vs the bad guys. Here, the bad guys are rogue cops. So, this is more a thriller than a dark, gritty crime film. Not boring at all, no folks, with a lead character not convincing at all, see the sequence when he can fight and win against ten cops in a police station !!! Who would believe that? But Alban Lenoir, this same character, plays very well this unconvincing character. A very weird situation. The police headquarters, in the warehouse, seems the very same we had in BRAQUO series, also starring Nicolas Duvauchelle, who is exquisite here, as usual. You can compare to the Fred Cavayé thrillers, French films in the American, Hollywood craps way, with a good guy vs bad guys, with always a happy ending. That makes me puke.

Actually a pretty cool movie!
jakebrann20 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"Car exhaust pipe" reviewer... is this the first movie you've seen with any sort of car chase? It isn't uncommon at all for them to use 3-5 versions of the same car after wrecking them for retakes...

Movie starts with our main actor in some tuner car that clearly has a Lambo motor swapped in it and then 30 seconds later he crashes the car?! Sure wish we had gotten to see a chase scene with that car! Would have been very cool! Small hatchback with a Lambo motor! Gotta give that car a bigger part!

I enjoy the movie even with the subtitles. The only problem I have with this movie is the ever so common chase scene mistakes that don't add up. He rams the car through a roadblock and is considerably ahead of any chase vehicle and the very next scene the cop car is right on his bumper. I hate those kind of inconsistencies. I also dislike the beginning where he beats up everyone in the police station and then somehow the one woman cop chokes him out! Not an exaggeration. He beat up 15 cops and then the one 100 lb. lone woman cop somehow takes him down and chokes him out? Really?

Anyway, those irritating parts aside this was an enjoyable action movie. The acting was well done and the bad guy was very unlikable. Not to mention how beautiful said female cop "Julia" was! Guess I'd let her take me down and choke me out too... 😏

Give the movie a watch! Great action, good fight scene and some decent suspense...

"This guy went through four layers of reinforced concrete with a Renault Clio"
ExpendableMan8 December 2020
Let's get this out the way right now; 'Last Bullet' is not the film it's been advertised as. The promotional trailer on Youtube would have you think this is the gallic equivalent of 'Mad Max' and 'Fast And The Furious' at the same time. It looks like the story of an elite Police roads unit chasing down drug traffickers in high speed pursuits, an adrenaline-pumping battle between pristine modern interceptors and rusty gang vehicles covered in metal spikes. That's not the case. It's still a fast moving slice of French action cinema, but the circumstances are different.

'Last Bullet' is really the story of Lino (Alban Denoir), a low level hood whose mechanical expertise is noticed by Police Chief Charas (Ramzy Bedia). Hired to soup up the Police vehicles and stay out of trouble, Lino finds himself in hot water when he's framed for murder and has to go on the run. In a desperate bid to prove his innocence, he needs to find and recover a single bullet, lodged in the dashboard of a car, all while avoiding the true culprits.

It's an exciting and fast moving story, but the focus isn't entirely on car chases. Aside from a very brief motorway smackdown at the beginning and the climactic pursuit, 'Lost Bullet' has its characters on foot for most of the running time. That doesn't mean it's slow paced though, far from it. The movie is packed with action, from Lino's brawling escape from an interrogation room to a shotgun battle at a dilapidated country house, the momentum doesn't dip and the movie barely lets you catch a breath. It's not as flashy as a modern Hollywood picture, but the fights seem authentic and the whole thing is grounded in a (heightened) sense of reality.

But the car chases are the big draw here and while it's disappointing that the actual car time is so sparse, the finale makes up for it. The last twenty minutes of the movie is bonnet-smashing, tyre squealing carnage and best of all, there's no CGI in sight. It's all done with practical effects, those are real cars being thrown into the air and driven into garages while on fire.

Go in with your expectations in the right place then and 'Lost Bullet' makes for a brisk, ninety-minute movie. This won't show up on anybody's 'Best Of 2020' lists but it is a good, old fashioned crime film with a top notch car chase at the end. It feels like the kind of movie that would have starred Steve McQueen back in the 1970s (albeit in French) and while it won't change anybody's life, it's a fun action movie that sees a lot of cars being destroyed in eye-popping ways. It could have done with taking itself a bit less seriously and shown more of the Police Captain getting increasingly exasperated, but otherwise it's a decent and fun ride.

Good action
rameezh8818 November 2021
If you want to watch a movie with good action, and à decent story, then this is for you. It does have a lot of cliches, but that doesn't matter if you're just looking to shut your mind off and be entertained. It's that döner kebab that hits the spot and not the four course five star meal.

Refreshing and addictive Warning: Spoilers
A very good thriller, on a theme that's already been seen, in this case a team of specialized police officers track down traffickers who use "go fasts". The specialized team goes in search of Alban Lenoir, who is in prison, to help them catch the gang, or at least prevent the cops' cars from being crushed like hedgehogs. The ingredients include dirty cops, modified cars, chases and fights, all with a fresh, new feel. Perhaps this is thanks to the well-chosen sets, which are visually striking and lend a sense of reality to each sequence.

The film could have given the impression that it's all about car chases, but fortunately it's not. The film is richer than average, thanks to its script and characters. Even though it's schematic at times, it's hard to put down, and we want to know how Alban Lenoir is going to get out of this one. After all, he finds himself pursued by the police, and has to fend for himself to prove his innocence.

The first sequence is hilarious, with a Renault Clio modified into a battering ram.

The film succeeds in renewing the genre thanks to its rather dense characters and editing that gets straight to the point without unnecessary frills. And thanks to some spectacular crumpled metal sequences.

The story line was quite okay, the execution-RUBBISH
CaptainVeta25 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Stupid cops, Criminals who don't think like criminals. If these producers have run out of ideas, Netflix please employ me and I'll write a better story for free. All I need are the materials.

How can you tell a cop who wants you dead that you have evidence against him and took the only road (since there are no other roads in France) that leads to the warehouse with that evidence?

Please don't waste your time.

A hidden gem.
eshmana19 September 2021
Great action, a solid story, swift (and strong) character development considering the relatively short run time, good acting, good direction, good casting, good production, heroes, villains, and doesn't take itself too seriously (the opening scene is very funny and at least one of the fight scenes is is so implausible that it's actually brilliant).

A low budget, off the radar, very competent action film.

He went through 4 layers of concrete with a Clio
nogodnomasters12 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is a police crime drama where the hero is Lino (Alban Lenoir ) a mechanic. The police work release him from prison to work on their cars to make them faster and stronger so they can compete with the drug dealers. As expected there are criminal elements within the police force.

I watch the film with English subtitles. It was a decent crime drama with a different kind of car chase at the end.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Convoluted Mess
Otte122 June 2020
The movie started off well then writing/direction/editing went off the rails.

I can see giving this movie 5 stars for the nice fight scene alone but rest of it has misplaced high school dialogue, dumb criminals and dumber cops and movie is devoid of any emotions(I just realized now why movie is so un-relatable, no one displays any emotion outside of manufactured fake anger).

Good enough even for a cinema movie
MAD_PIGE0N22 June 2020
This is a nice action involving cars, but in a different way than craps like Fast and Furious (that goes to cinema with every worsen part), combined with a police corruption plot. Scenes, acting, camera, effects (no CGI crap) - it's all professional and has just enough dose of tension while watching. I enjoyed watching it.

The French know how to make crime movies
philjeudy25 June 2020
With a well selected and fresh set of actors, this movie is giving us what Hollywood is usually providing us in terms of action and suspense, even though we know we should get a happy end.

Jason Statham en Francais
omendata11 August 2020
It is a French car chase thriller as only the French can make it and it's not bad at all with some exciting car stunts and your basic cop story with a bit of the A-Team / MacGyver and Jason Bourne fight scenes thrown in for good measure. You have to laugh at the Renault 21 2 litre Turbo; but in a good way. It is quirky and fun and has that uniquely French comedic style and panache thrown in in small measure to lift this above your average crash , bang , wallop.

Some people do not know how to review movies - plot holes etc c'mon it is a fictional movie, you go to the cinema to watch and be taken out of yourself to fantasy land where plot holes and reality is left behind. I mean who sits and watches a movie and picks out mistakes and things that "WOULD NOT HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE" - that is just absurd so please if you cannot review a movie based on its entertainment value then just do not review anything again, just stick to your Arthouse films and leave the fun stuff for others!

If you like quirky, action packed French films then this will not disappoint and is a whole hell of a lot better than a lot of Hollywood rubbish that I have seen lately!

But, to say the truth, being an avid fan of French films, I was expecting more...By any means ,not a bad film, just couldn't connect with main characters and when I don't feel for the protagonists ,it's not easy to enjoy movie...Overall ,not a bad one time watch.

The French and the Furious: Renault 21 Turbo Drift
Top_Dawg_Critic20 June 2020
Let me first say, that for an international French film, by a newb (his first full length feature film) writer and director, Guillaume Pierret, this film was one heck of a ride. I agree with most reviewers that this should not be compared to any Hollywood blockbusters (my title was being facetious). Albeit not overly original, this fun action/crime film was really well put together. The writing was tight and the directing on point. I've seen seasoned writers and directors come up with some flop films lately, so it's refreshing for a new filmmaker to come up with an almost flawless production. The 92 min runtime was just right, and the pacing was perfect. Cinematography was good, and the score surprisingly fitting for a B-grade international production. Casting was well put together with all performances convincing, especially the French Jason Statham looking, Alban Lenoir as Lino. I'm glad they left it open for a sequel, and hope they follow through. A well deserved 8/10 from me. To see more of my 1000+ ratings and 900+ reviews, click on my username.

Solid euro action
lurer5 July 2020
It's not "ronin" since it lacks budget and high profile actors, but it packs a lot of heart and ambition. If you want solid entertainment, this is. Also: watch it in french and put the english subtitles on. They work quite nicely. I do hope two things for this movie: That no one got really hurt during the making and that it serves as kickstarter for some of the actors careers.

Watch it. You won't be disappointed.
