C movie

The Unborn is a ghost/creature feature. The acting isn't bad, the set is dark, but also not too bad, but the story, it's bad! There is no plot, no reason why what had happened is happing again? The story has no point and no guts - pun intended! A little history or back story could've helped this film greatly. Also the ending was way too predictable! All and all I've seen a lot worse, but that still doesn't help this movie in any way.

Left with some unanswered questions
BluFox902 February 2022
I would give this a 4.5 If I was able. Movie left way to much answered, could of really used a extra 20mins for that reason. Was shot very well and acting was good also. I really enjoyed the atmosphere they had for the movie. I'm a fan of movies that take place during a "night shift" at work.

Good to Snooze To
nebk2 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The Unborn is a cheap and relatively boring horror film. It is about a security guard called Tiffany who prior to going to work guarding a building about to be demolished finds out that she is 8 weeks pregnant. She is not happy about this and doesn't manage to tell the father who works in management at the same location. Soon she and her coworker Joey are the only two people left in the building. Or are they?

The acting is below par for the most part and the movie relies on cliched tropes like a clapping monkey doll, creepy mannequins, jump scares, ghost children, creaking doors and drawn out scenes with ominous music and annoying lullabies. Some of the characters have a tendency to break into song in order to alleviate the boredom of their jobs doing final checks before the demolition crews move in next day to bring the building down. The viewers might unfortunately do the same. Sing to alleviate boredom that is, not demolish buildings. Although that might depend on how much you enjoy the movie or not. The movie excluding the end credits is just about an hour long but it feels like its drawn out. Overall not a great movie that should be avoided unless you want to use it to fall asleep to.

Someone found an old warehouse and thought it could be a good place for a horror movie.
SunnySonnie6 May 2020
At the beggining I thought it could be a good movie even, but it was not. Actually the story is not so exciting at all, and not even making any sense yo be honest. Someone found an old warehouse and thought it could be a good place for a horror, then went home, ate too much dinner, then fell asleep, had a disturbing dream and the next morning quickly wrote something around it, mixing old horror stories. That is how these stories always born. But to be honest Stephen King was doing it much more better (even after some pretty lame movies they made from his books) I don't even know why I'm trying to find a good horror story or even a movie nowadays. They all used, and it seems these days anyone can make a movie, who have the money for it. I think the "movie factory" should be more picky about what they say yes for.

And not scarying at all. its a one location low budget horror with a strait average cast ,cheap synth score, and not a good story or stunts. this topic has been worn out years ago, the cymbaltic monkey were scary when i, the grumpy old man was young. i shall not doom the days of this film, but im not going to rewatch.

Severe Confusion
tiskec17 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I gave this film a 5/10 just because the acting was very good and the setting was well done. The cinematics were also very good, giving a creepy-crawly sensation through out the film. However, coincided to this, I had no idea what the reason was that the hauntings were happening. I got a hunch that these weird spikes that the ghosts used released the DNA of the dead children into people to bring back the dead children they lost? I'm not really sure. Although, it changed that one guy into an abomination. So I'm not totally sure that's the case. It doesn't explain all that much, leaving no trace of a solid story. Why is this stuff happening? There's just too much unanswered questions in this movie, mostly asking "why?" This movie left me very confused.

Crock of WTF

Warning: Spoilers
Abandoned places usually make for great horror, I don't know what this is, but it's not horror.

Then we get this hat... dude... Uhm, the hell?

The only actual scary MF with a hat is the hat man, could have done a lot better with shadow people.

The movie is fine it's the reviews that suck.
berg-7453218 September 2021
Not great not bad sums it up perfectly. The problem is everyone is an expert and if it has even a single jump scare the pseudo critics and film school wannabes immediately reject the movie. It's maddening that you see so many jerks who clearly have no control over aspects of their lives that they wish they had they turn into professional critics to take out their frustrations on a movie. It's a horror movie just like every horror movie before it the same weaknesses and strengths but for some reason horror movies more than any other genre get torn apart in ways that the tiny picked nits are seized like doughnuts at the first weight watchers meeting. I watch horror movies almost exclusively and being stuck at home I probably watch 20 plus a week this doesn't make me anymore of an expert than those I'm ripping with this but it makes it easier to spot an unreasonably critical attack.

Do not waste your time
sallyhilton-0200815 September 2021
There's no real story, no exposition. The acting was flat in places and over the top in others. None of the characters did anything remotely believable to save their lives. The two guards argue more about what to do, wasting what little precious power their generator had left.

Overall: The movie is an hour and ten minutes. After you fast forward through the scenes of them taking you on a tour of the building like your working the night shift. The movie is about thirty minutes.

Would I recommend this move? I'll keep it clean. H-NO!!!!

Another stunning success for Jesse R. Tendler!

Warning: Spoilers
It's late at night in a deserted factory primed for demolition, with just two security guards responsible for covering 18 floors! What could possibly go wrong?

Anyway, Joey and Tiffany have to check each room on each floor of the factory to confirm that it's clear, before the demolition crew arrives at daybreak. The rooms are sealed with tape, armed with alarms, and monitored with security cameras, so it should be an easy job. But when alarms start going off for no apparent reason while doors mysteriously open and close, Joey and Tiffany start to wonder if they might have a problem that doesn't match their job description.

The Unborn was wildly successful at the prestigious Shriekfest Film Festival, where director Tal Lazar and writer Danny Matier won the highly coveted Best Horror Feature. Despite this, it has inexplicably languished at a pathetic and wholly undeserved 3.8 on IMDB.

I find this difficult to comprehend, because The Unborn is a very close to a master class in short filmmaking (it clocks in at a sparse 70 minutes). The characters are well drawn, the tight plot is constructed swiftly but efficiently from a sparse framework of clues, the acting is solid, and the conclusion is punchy. Fans of the indy scene will immediately recognise Manni L. Perez and Chris Bellant in the lead roles.

I rate The Unborn at 26.64 on the Haglee Scale, which works out as an impressive 8/10 on IMDB.

This movie is great to laugh it. And then if you're tired, sleep to it. If I could give it 0 stars I would. This movie is TRASH. The ending was kinda good and that's it.

Terrible bad movie and a total wast of ones time
esangbedokelvin6 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a low budget bad and terrible movie shot in one place. It so bad that I was feeling sleepy during the movie and couldn't wait for it to be over. The cast are amateur actors and actresses. It so bad that de movie is just one hour and ten minutes(seventy minutes) plus the end credits. The story and plot and the pacing is bad, terrible and ridiculous. Its a wast of time. it one of the worst films I have watched this year. Watch it only if u want to sleep during the movie.

They need to play this movie at sleep clinics where you get CPAP machines
edw197631 October 2021
This movie was so boring, I thought it was three hours long. I kept falling in and out of sleep, waiting on something to happen.

When I read the reviews and realized how short the movie was, I almost fell off the bed. If you can't sleep, turn this on, and it will be like you just took a fistful of Benadryl.

Made on a low budget, but well made, also too easy
momomojojo10 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It is a bit too easy made without a real understanding of the story. Could be evolved more. Pity it could be so much more, it does not stretch the time you got entertained all the time.

More a movie to spend time not a movie to spend quality time.

casey-4271215 April 2022
Ugh. Tedious, boring, flat. Joey is the highlight for trying to act in an awful film.

Tough chick with a gun gets old real fast.

Was there a story? Not really.

Serious/dark horror that has great ambience
atrheller23 February 2023
Never seen, nor heard of either director, nor actors - loved!!

Dark & moody, good acting; good directing; super excellent musick choices (background/foreground).

Would love to see more by director and both main actors (especially Manni).

Movie seemed like low budget, but still very effective.

And, some original story plot lines that I haven't seen before (like the low battery-fueled overheads).

Not the best movie in its genre, but would definitely recommend as it's quite good and worth viewing for those that are enthusiasts.

Parts of the movie reminded me of Splinter (2008) & parts reminded me of Last Shift (2014). Just bits and pieces - by no means a copy of either.

Would love to know who put together the musical composition - excellent stuff.

So confusing
kimannkirk5 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie all the way through and still have no idea what it is about. Startes with a good premise, pregnant gaurd working a last shift at a spooky building, so it had potential... but between a random ghost family (with 2 creepy kids) that start attacking for no rhyme or reason to ppl being stabbed with spikes that grow under your skin as well as random fetus in a jar... I am sure you will be just as lost as I was. There was no explanation at any time for what was going on and it seemed to lack basic plot points. On top of that it ended suddenly with no kind of actual conclusion. Will leave you wondering what you just watched.
