An unconvincing, tedious horror film!
ConfusedRoulette2 June 2019
This movie claims to be the 1st Indian film based on paranormal activity and also the 1st Indian film using animated chameleon as a character. These 2 facts are used as a bait for the audience to watch this film. However they don't work out at all. The paranormal activity shown in the movie is just like the other run-of-the-mill horror flicks and secondly the chameleon character is not used in any parts to spook you, making one wonder why was this creature made in the first place!

A group of friends land up at one of their friend's house in a place called Kamarottu to suprise him. But when they reach his house, they can't find him and decide to spend the night in his house. What happens when strange things start to occur there? The plot unfolds in a rather dull manner.

Although the story is quite interesting, it fails to impress the viewer due to the lengthy and slow screenplay. Except in some places, the horror elements also fail to workout. The music, cinematography & acting is just average. Some of the scenes involving Gadappa's jokes are quite amusing, however they too don't work out much. A more crisper editing could have made the film more gripping. Alas this film turns out to be an unconvincing, tedious watch.

Waste of time

Warning: Spoilers
The movie has absolutely next to nothing story. The graphics used are terrible and cartoonish, specially the chameleon. This movie is terrible at being a horror movie because it doesn't feel like one and feels nonsense after you finish watching it. The movie has been stretched to leaps and bounds just to increase the screen retention time. The acting was also mediocre at best because the actors failed to portray that fear which would intensify the tension of what is called a horror scene in the movie (pun intended). Looking at some of the dialogue deliveries, you can clearly make out that they were recorded separately in the studio and the tone didn't seem to be in sync with the flow.

I wonder in what sane mind did the story writer think this will work. You can't hide a lame story behind big terms like "astral projections", "time travel", "psychic" and stuff, no matter how technical and serious they sound when your main story itself sounds like it is written by a 9 year old. Some characters and places in the movie make no sense. For example: The watchman at the checkpost, why was that character even necessary? And moreover, the movie name is "Kamarottu Checkpost". Going by this, there must be some horror associated with the checkpost itself as shown in the beginning of the movie itself, where a couple driving through the checkpost meets a tragic end after crossing it. Rather, the whole horror takes place in "Chittemane" or whatever that house was called. Why did this horror shift from the checkpost to the home all of a sudden? If the ghost in this movie had a personal problem with his friend's relationship with his wife, why did it kill the couple in the car then? Were there lives for free? Also the idiotic ghost is of the man who could've avoided all of this just through a simple phone call to his friend/through confrontation. Why did the ghost kill "Gaddappa" when all he did was serve his family? Also the psychic refers to Gaddappa's death as very brutal and ugly, I didn't notice any such level of brutality except for some broken chicken eggs and Gaddappa lying on his chest.

Please kannada horror movie makers, if you want to make a horror movie, learn it from the kannada movie "ssshhh..." no horror movie in the Indian film history can overtake this movie in being a suspense, thriller and a horror movie. It's such a gem.

This movie is a waste of time, don't watch this.

Wonderfully crafted horror movie, most underrated.

The doctors, believing that Regan's aberrations are mostly psychological in origin, recommend an exorcism be performed. Chris arranges a meeting with Karras who, reluctant to engage spirtually, agrees to at least speak with Regan. As the two come face to face Karras and Regan test each other's wits, although Karras is skeptical to believe anything spiritual is happening. Chris tearfully finds herself at a dead end and confides in Karrass that Regan was the one who murdered Dennings, and begs him to find a solution. Over the next couple days Karrass witnesses Regan speaking backward in different languages, and exhibits scars spelling out "Help Me" on her stomach, convincing him she really is possessed by a demon. He implores the church to let him perform an exorcism, but feeling he's over-matched the church calls on Merrin to perform the exorcism while Karras may assist.

The ritual begins as a battle of wills with Regan performing a series of horrific, and vulgar acts. They attempt to exorcise the demon, but the spirit digs in, claiming to be the Devil himself
