A man finds that he needs more in life than just sleep, food, work, music and movies on repeat, so he orders an automated male friend to keep him company. The automated friend gradually learns how to be more human from being with the man. Over time, the man's life is improved by his automated friend, who helps him get himself a girlfriend. However, now the automated friend feels that he needs more to his life, so he orders himself a female friend, but is the automated friend human enough to make that new relationship last?

They build an entire virtual existence together until one night, the man appears to be drugged while on his way to his virtual world.
