unfulfilled potential
danielribeiroIMDB30 August 2022
Zlatan's story is fascinating. This movie is average. I was entertained but I felt like this approach ruled out many interesting episodes in Zlatan's life.

There were too many transactions between the adult and child phases that ended up removing emotion and decontextualizing the temporal thread.

The movie picture was a little monotonous and the sound of the movie was linked to that vibe.

The actors were competent but without grace. The actor who played Zlatan showed some personality but lacked some aura around the character.

Maybe I was too hyped, but this movie turned out not to live up to its potential.

Shallow

Don't believe the hype. Sure, it's a pretty good movie with great actors but it doesn't really explain why Zlatan is Zlatan, on a deeper level. You won't cry or laugh. And if you don't know some of the names that are dropped, you will miss a lot. And as always, you can't fake the real game of football on the silver screen. It just gets silly and fabricated. If you're not a fanboy, skip this rather boring and shallow movie since it will not bring any extra, as a movie or the story of Zlatan.

Average movie

Warning: Spoilers
The movie was over hyped in my opinion. And I feel like there is many unanswered questions about Zlatan.

Now they're trying to tell a story that is a bit all over the place. Either they should have focused on the family conflict part more, or his way to the top. It feels like they're trying to cover everything in a way where it gets too messy.

The camera work and all was great, they did a good job with catching the feeling I think they wanted for every scene.

About the locations.. I live in the area where Zlatans dad lives in the movie and it's very confusing how they say he lives in Rosengård but in the movie he lives in Annelund. If Zlatan grew up in Annelund (the blue houses in the movie) that would have changed a lot for him. The school, the football teams, the environment around him and the social standard in the neighbourhood. Rosengård is such a big neighbourhood so they should have used an apartment on the other side of the train track to be more accurate.

Juvenile, predictable and shallow
rickardbergman16 July 2023
Predictable and superficial. Poor acting on all parts, unfortunately not least when it comes to the main character. A polished and fan-adapted version of the main character. The entire movie feels juvenile and does not seize the opportunity to create insights in Z as a person or the influence he had on those around him. Rather it just confirms the general image of a non-conformist, grumpy ego without creating any understanding for the driving forces involved. It fails to bring anything new to the table.

The film seems to be focused on building the Zlatan mythology and brand rather than telling the story of his life in a good way. This is a pity, since Z's history has great potential.

On the positive side.

I guess the football scenes are pretty good and it is said to be quite historically accurate.

There is no real reason to see it. If you are a fan, it likely confirms your opinions. If you're not, it doesn't add much.

Inside view to the childhood and U-19 team's time of the famous footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, added some jumps to the year 2004. Recommend this to everybody, had a good feeling after the movie that I have taken part of this journey.

Zlatan is Here

I am Zlatan. A film that will tell not only the fate of the famous football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but also describe the path of the football player from the very bottom to the top of the football elite.

The film is great for athletes and those who want to get closer to the world of big football.

Everyone who believes that football is a game of millionaires who have no goal is mistaken and this picture will ideally correct your prediction about this sport.

Only 7 reviews?!
tildiz14926 July 2023
Why does "I Am Zlatan" only have 7 reviews before my review?! I just can´t believe this. I´m so confused and shocked! We´re talking about Zlatan here! I´m not a devoted football fan, but he is one of the greatest football players of all time.

And I actually liked this movie. We are introduced to Zlatan in his younger years. Granit Rushiti looks a lot like Zlatan. And I think that Granit also managed to capture Zlatan´s big, strong, confident and some kind of larger-than-life personality. Dominic Andersson Bajraktati portrays Zlatan when he is a child. Dominic gives his role liveliness, courage and stubbornness.

Mapei´s song "Ain´t My Fault" is, in my opinion, a great song. It enhances the confident vibe in this movie. And Mapei has an amazing voice!

All in all I must say, in all honesty and clarity, that this movie deserves way more reviews than 8. I´m hoping for at least 100 reviews. Yes, you read that correctly.

Balkan boys will understand EVERYTHING
leonidasoriginal11 October 2023
Movie is low budget, but with real-life feel to it. And that is what is so good about it. Cast is great. You can sense Zlatan's real character both in "young Zlatan" and grown up Zlatan. Actor playing older Ibra is A M A Z I N G. He captured the essence of this ultra-famous footballer almost perfectly. Voice, body language, laugh, how he talks to other footballers. What most won't understand is the realtionship between balkan fathers, mothers and sons. The poverty of Balkan people is real. Cheap food, small appartments, never truly accepted by foreign people. Balkan boys were never truly accepted in foreign enviorments, which is why we develop this rebelliousness. We are tought to learn the hard way and Zlatan is stellar representative of Balkan boy, good in heart but rebellious and with burden of life pushing him further. While many fail and succumb to hard life, he never gave up. And that is what makes him GOAT. He did many things wrong, but he did more right, leading him to be such an important person in a world of football. Respected world wide.

"Bravo ljudino! Cak si dobio i svoj cijelovecerac! Zasluzeno IbraKadabra!"
