  • Towards the beginning, a woman is shown on the side of the road, trying to lure in travelers. She is wearing a thin dress, though nothing is shown. The same character appears later in the movie.
  • When Eli enters the bar, some women are shown wearing revealing clothing. Nothing explicit is shown, and they are onscreen for three seconds.
  • In the beginning of the film, a woman is raped to death. We hear her screams and later see her dead on the side of the road. She is topless, but her arm covers most of the nudity.

Violence & Gore

  • Two sexual assaults are depicted. The first is viewed at a distance. It is implied that the victim is raped. The second assault is an attempted rape. In the second sexual assault, the victim's distress and screams are unsettling and potentially triggering.
  • A dead rotting corpse is seen hanging from a noose from an apparent suicide.

  • There is a gunfight between the main character and several other characters. Many characters are shot in the head with bloody results. There are also shootings to the body and extremeties with gory and bloody results.
  • There is another gunfight scene where several different types of weapons are used. A bomb explodes and body parts are seen landing on the ground. The blast from a grenade throws a man against a truck. An RPG is fired in to a house killing an old woman with bloody aftermath. Several bad guys are shot with automatic weapon fire yielding bloody results. An old man is shot with a large caliber automatic weapon with bloody results.

The crash also causes a large knife sitting on the dash of the truck to impale another character through the chest. He pulls the knife from his chest and we see and hear the results.

Profanity

  • It should be noted that Eli never curses, and most of the language is in the second half. Also, 6 or so of the F-bombs are spoken within a 2 minute span
  • 13 uses of "fuck", 7 uses of "shit", 2 uses of "son of a bitch", 2 uses of "bastard", 1 use of "pussy", 1 use of "hell", 1 use of "Goddamn it", and 1 use of "damn it"(whispered).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The last 15 minutes are very emotionally intense.
  • In the opening scene a cat is shot and killed with an arrow.
  • The whole movie has an intense, somber tone, and some scenes can be surprisingly frightening/intense.
  • The fight scenes are definitely intense and pretty violent, but they're relatively brief.
