Not the most outstanding of horror movies...
paul_haakonsen19 January 2021
I initially sat down to watch the 2020 horror movie titled "Ten Minutes to Midnight" because it was a horror movie that I hadn't seen already, and also because Wednesday 13 had it mentioned on his Facebook page. And of course with it being a horror movie, then I would eventually sit down to watch the movie.

And I must say that I like the movie's cover/poster, as it has a very nice atmospheric presentation of the movie to it, and there is just something very retro about it.

Now as for the movie itself, well... Sure, "Ten Minutes to Midnight" was watchable, but it was hardly a grand foray into the horror genre. For me the movie was just a bit too strange, with writers Erik Bloomquist and Carson Bloomquist approach to the storyline. It felt a bit too avantgarde, I mean with the things like switching the characters and actors/actresses around portraying them, and the general confusion that there was to the movie.

It wasn't all bad though, because there definitely were elements to "Ten Minutes to Midnight" that worked out well in favor of the movie. One of the most important of such elements was the 1980s horror movie feel that director Erik Bloomquist had managed to capture throughout the course of the movie.

As for a horror movie, then "Ten Minutes to Midnight" just didn't cut it - pardon the pun. The movie was just a bit too stale and mundane. Sure, it proved good enough for a single viewing, but that was about it. This is hardly a movie with the contents to support more than a single viewing.

My rating of the 2020 movie "Ten Minutes to Midnight" settles on a less than mediocre four out of ten stars.

The end is always coming
nogodnomasters24 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Amy Marlow (Caroline Williams ) is the nighttime radio host of a show called "10 minutes to Midnight." There is a hurricane outside. On her way in Amy was bit in the neck. And she soon finds out this is her last night on the air which does not go well as she is to train her replacement Sienna (Nicole Kang). Her boss and former lover Robert (William Youmans) is there as well as security and the board man. Amy is not herself and she bites Sienna and things really go off the chain with flashbacks and alternate realities.

This was not your typical vampire film. The intermittent surreal atmosphere gave me cause for confusion, hence I don't know if I like it or not because I simply did not understand what was happening.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Saw it at the drive-in and hated it

What did I just watch? This movie didn't make any sense. Best as I can tell, a midnight disc jockey gets bitten by a bat and a bunch of weird stuff happens to her. I don't get it.

Ten Minutes to Mehnight
Stevieboy6667 July 2021
Picked this up cheap from a local supermarket. Had expected a fairly typical vampire movie but instead it descends into some wannabe trippy, arty crap. Boring as hell too. A lot of reviews mention Caroline Williams in their titles. She was the only thing of interest here and at 63 she still looks pretty darn hot! Running time for this trash is 73 long, painful minutes. Avoid is my opinion.

Really bad...

Warning: Spoilers
Do not believe any of the good pro reviews. This is a cheap... worse, a cheap LOOKING twisted mess of poop.

A late night DJ is bit by a bat and begins to turn into a vampire. Sounds promising! BUT the DJ then bites another DJ and THEY become a ravenous vampire while the original infected does not!! Not a lick of sense. Thought it would be about a slow desent into madness and monstrosity but, no. A cheap shock and awe, not very much on that end either.

No one stands out in the cast, not even the leading actor who apparently has some cult following in POS horror.

Should have cast Lennia Quiqley!

The woman went from a normal human being, to biting people and sucking blood out of a used tampon, in under a minute...

...needless to say, I went from watching it, to switching it off in under a minute too(!)

A great little horror flick starring the amazing Caroline Williams where not all is what it seems. Nice and tight at 73 minutes, wonderful, quirky characters, and just a fun watch. Worth your time.

Worth the watch, but didn't quite get there
korythacher25 October 2021
Ten Minutes to Midnight is a fun watch. It had a cool old-school horror feel, and the radio studio-rocker vibe was great.

It has a good start, but started to lose me a bit towards the half-way mark I think. After a little while it got weird in a way that I liked, and they pulled me back in. The follow through wasn't great, but it was an acceptable ending.

It gad a lot of potential in a couple spots, but it just turned out "alright"

A vampire movie with bite
selectowolf-44-91793113 August 2021
A film that starts as a treatise on forced obsolescence takes a left hand path into surreal, gory horror with an ending reminiscent of Carnival of Souls. Caroline Williams is wonderful as a veteran DJ (almost the bookend of her TCM2 role) that gets plunged into nightmare. Pairs well with JAKOB'S WIFE!!

Watched this last night on Tubi and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Had the vibes of the 80s horror popcorn flicks I grew up watching. Caroline Williams was awesome! It was cool to see her in the radio booth again. If you are looking for a fun movie to watch to kill some time check this out!

Anyone saying this movie was better than half good must be part of the ones who made this so called movie. Trash and NOT worth a rating over 5.

Another worst horror film! Full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Avoid at all cost!
kwenchow20 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This film start with the news broadcasting about the governor has declared a state of emergency, and a woman "Amy" went into a studio scene! As turnout, this film is about a vampire "Amy" killing all the crews in the studio during her last day of duty in the studio! Entire film full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Such as, overuse of the walking scene, overuse of the searching scene, overuse of the calling names scene, overuse of the arguing scene, overuse of the song playing at the background scene, overuse of the hallucinate scene, overuse of the disgusting scene, overuse of the displaying time on the clock scene, and overuse of the sharpening the wood scene! Make the film unwatchable! At the end, the remaining crew of the studio found out several dead bodies in the bathroom! That's it! Another disappointed film!

Waste of time
HorrorFam3 September 2021
The acting was forced. The lead roll seemed it was written for a method actor. This definitely wasn't achieved and was painful to watch. I did notice the lines up the leads arms so it may have been a slow overdose that led to a dream until she finally passed? I would not consider this a horror film but more of a drama.

This is one film that descends into psychedelic trip into a bloody gore feast. It does well to show the madness and thirst the protagonist has for her colleagues. I suggest if you watch this under the influence of... Then you'll have a trip that may give you nightmares...

This was not your typical vampire film. The intermittent surreal atmosphere gave me cause for confusion, hence I don't know if I like it or not because I simply did not understand what was happening. The scenes kept changing and this whole time I'm looking at my watch thinking when is this dumpster fire going to end. I understood this was more a psychological horror instead of physical horror. Still if the direction was better I might of enjoyed it more.

Interesting idea never really takes off.
DarylJGittings23 March 2024
The idea behind "Ten Minutes to Midnight" seems like an interesting flick with a lot of potential. The movie starts off pretty good with late night radio host Amy Marlowe being bitten on the neck by a rabid bat. She just slaps a bandage on the bite and goes about her regular routine. Her boss sticks with a girl, who unbeknownst to Amy, is about to replace her on the air. Amy has a meltdown on the air and bites her replacement on the wrist. Then she helps herself to "a special treat" in the ladies room. This is an odd movie. You never really know if Amy is hallucinating or the events shown on the screen are a dream or are they really happening.

Even with a short running time of only 73 minutes, I lost interest about halfway through the movie. The one thing that I did enjoy was Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2). It was cool to see her again, but otherwise I just couldn't get into this movie.

A Fun Blend of Horror Elements Headlined by a Legendary "Scream Queen."
vinfitz21 January 2021
I try hard not to intellectualize horror movies. They are either fun and scary, or they are not. This film was absolutely fun, jolted me a few times, offered a couple of gross out moments I won't soon forget.

"Ten Minutes to Midnight" blended body horror and supernatural elements in a claustrophobic setting that at times was surreal. At 73 minutes, it wastes no time moving the story foreward, propelled by the energy of legendary Caroline Williams as an unsuspecting victim of workplace ageism who experiences a transformaton you'll have to see for yourself.

I loved the films practical effects, and its supporting cast, but most of all that it kept me guessing, and gave me a fun time while doing it.

I wanted to like it
RealSwordbladez3 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
All the elements for a good horror film are here. It is just executed poorly. I like the surreal presentation of the story: hence the rating of 5*. The set pieces from moving from strangely lit areas to an absolutely brilliant sparse space that looks like a an abstract painting were wonderfully striking. That coupled with changing the aspect ratio during the film to convey warmth in scenes was really unique. Aside from that, this is where the praises end. The plot has been summed up in one sentence by so many others, I won't repeat. It isn't clear if we are supposed to think this is all a fever dream, alternate reality, or Groundhog Day type of loop (of hell). The insanity of the "hook" is played out so lacklusterly that it is so hard to tell! Great idea, bad execution :( Spoiler... If you have any confusion about what this movie is about... It's about.the "Last Night" of Amy's humanity as she is slowly killed by a rabid bat bite turning her into a vampire. The ending is burying her human body and seeing her full vampire as the station opens the next day after she had killed everyone inside. Again, it's a huge metaphorical leap to see that with what was presented on screen.

What Advice Would You Give
buck-6267611 October 2020
As the movie progressed the realization that there was a deeper meaning made this film unique . There were some frenzied moments that were put into perspective as the movie went on that I felt were crafted well .There are definitely some classic WTF moments that will linger with the viewer. I was able to watch this film @ A Drive In with the Lead actress Caroline Williams (Amy ) ,The Director Erik Bloomquist & Co-Writer Carson Bloomquist in attendance.

I'm so confused
selfdestructo29 March 2022
So, Amy was bitten by a vampire bat? Is that supposed to have been what actually transpired here? What in this movie was supposed to be real? Seemed like an entire film of hallucinations, dream sequences, and flashbacks.

Caroline Williams is great, hence the extra couple stars. Supporting cast was fairly annoying all around.

And I just want to correct everyone, this movie runs 72 minutes, not even 73. Seemed like an eternity.
