Definitely another show CN needs under its belt
EarlGenesis9 January 2020
This show is pretty much everything you could need in a kids cartoon. It's original, funny, charming, and especially lighthearted enough for children to enjoy. If I was in my younger days, this show definitely would've been on repeat.

Cartoon Network's newest show, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart is by far wonderful! Cartoon Network is getting way better, the characters, the animation, the fight scenes, the humor, everything is just...WOW! COOL! I love this show and hopefully we get to see new more cartoons whatever that consider good or great! Go watch Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart, it is a really amazing show! I give this show a 9.5/10

Off to a promising start!
ondiominio5 July 2019
Well, this show just came out of the blue to blow people away.

Mao Mao has shown itself to be a standout show among Cartoon Network's lineup this year, and shows that the corporation still has a lot of bright ideas coming out that make people surprised. This is probably the best show CN has put out since OK K.O, back in 2017.

While I can say that Mao Mao isn't the best show since there's only 10 episodes of this show out, I can certainly say that it blew away my expectations. I found it kind of funny how CN initially kept this show under the rug for a while until all of a sudden announcing it in May of 2019 out of the blue and unleashing an episode.

This show has a lot of strengths going for it, for one, the characters in the show are ones I find very like-able and ones that can give me multiple laughs an episode, while some of the characters are a bit formulaic, like Mao Mao himself coming off as a bit egocentric and irritating at times, but otherwise the main trio of characters are charming and show that they have actual character. I also like how the animation style of this show is unique, as this show is animated by a different corporation in collaboration with CN Studios. Everything about the animation and art style of this show is unique, sure the animation may look a bit stiff at first, Titmouse did a really great job animating and choreographing the action scenes, as they have power and really stand out in each episode. Not to mention that the backgrounds and characters look very uniquely stylized, and this show gives me a bit of a Japanese-anime vibe in the designs, sure they're simple, but they look great.

Not everything about this show is perfect though, as sometimes the pacing of some episodes feel rushed, how some of the side characters are very uninteresting, and how some of the voice acting could use work. every other problem I have with this show are mainly nitpicks.

Besides the minor issues, I think Mao Mao is a show that is off to a pretty great start and seems to have a bright future ahead of it. It disappoints me how not many people know about this show as of now, as this show deserves a lot more support. I'd definitely give this show a watch and i would support the crew of this show as much as you can, as they deserve praise for what they've put out so far. You is good, Mao Mao.

A promising show
BoxwoodExpress3 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I've supported Mao Mao ever since the first episode was leaked on the app in May of 2019. Let me tell you, it's a beacon of hope for future CN originals. Don't get me wrong, I like most, if not all of, the current Cartoon Network originals, but Mao Mao has gotten more online buzz than other new/upcoming shows.

The premise is very intriguing. Mao Mao wants to be a legendary hero, and randomly ends up in Pure Heart Valley, where he has to protect the Ruby Pure Heart. Along the way, Adorabat joins Mao Mao and Badgerclops, because she wants to be a hero too. This could potentially set up a story arc. The best thing about the show is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. Allow me to elaborate:

The show is an action adventure comedy, so even if there's a story arc, and even if things get dark at times, there will be some comedy to balance it out, which is great because this show is very funny and clever.

I admire the characters. The world of Mao Mao is vast and expansive with all sorts of unique creatures, and that's the beauty of it. Mao Mao is admirable due to his mentor like status to Adorabat and drive to be a hero. Adorabat is very cute and sweet, and looks up to Mao Mao. Badgerclops is just kinda there, but he can be entertaining at times.

The animation, provided by Titmouse (the same folks behind TOTS), is beautiful. It looks much different from other CN shows, and has dynamic action scenes. The theme song is reminiscent of an anime opening, and the credits music is a nice electric tune.

If you want to watch a show that's like the early episodes of Adventure Time, this show is for you. It's great that the show has gotten so much positive feedback from the usually cynical Cartoon Network fan base

Fresh animation and humor! A new instant favorite
beatavatarr27 July 2019
At first glance the show seemed another random new series but I think they've got something special here and can't wait to see how far it goes! With the feel of classic cartoon villains but without taking themselves too seriously this show has a great sense of humor that doesn't really aim itself to hurt anyone (besides the characters lol). The voice acting and animation is phenomenal and its a really refreshing new cartoon that lets itself be so. Beyond excited to see more!

I don't know if Cartoon Network is apologizing for TTG or Cartoon Network is getting better.

Good?

I think this show wants to be like adventure Time, but I think it's not even close to Adventure time. This is because the characters are not interesting to me. Still, I find enjoyment while watching this show because of the animation.

One of the best shows on Cartoon Network (2019)
icy_mcgraw24 August 2019
It's creative, funny, and packed with action and adventure. All of the characters have great personalities which is why I love them so much. I'm just craving for new episodes.

It's a good idea though
televisiodesml20 August 2019
I mean, I can understand why everyone likes this. It has great animation and setting, airs in a channel where Teen Titans Go airs 24/7 and some fresh air is always welcomed. But I think the show has more potential and originality to offer. I mean, the characters, with all those hints of deep backstories and dreams (even it's all for comedy effect... for now), can be promising, but I think it fails in one thing that most kids show have: it tends to be repetitive. Every episode that ends teaching some lesson is a lesson that they'll forget in the next episode. That's an issue I have with Adorabat actually; even her intents are okay, there are actually two episodes where she acts stubbornly and puts everyone in danger, so we already know how it's everything going to end.

Something I also noticed is that nonsensical fast-paced action some episodes have. Is this like that to satisfy older audiences? Because otherwise I don't really see the need of adding it. Yes I know the premise of the show but sometimes it looks unnecessary, and not funny actually.

Sometimes it looks like it's trying to follow Adventure Time's paths (even referencing it in an episode), with all that random humor and those themes from later seasons, but I know that something can be funny and awesome without being random or cliché.

PD: To all haters, please accept reality lol.

Absolutely Charming

Lovable characters and entertaining gags and a surprising amount of heart. I fell in love with the show instantly. They follow a formula that has been missing in cartoons for awhile and it deserves all the attention it can get.

Sorry To Say This, But I Don't Like It.

I Don't Know What People See In This Show, But I'm Not One Of Those People.

This Show Tries To Be Cute And Friendly, But Does The Exact Opposite And Is Annoying And Boring. The Characters Are Bland And The Story Is Pointless.

Great new CN original!
toddog-996642 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
At the time of writing this review, the first ten episodes of this show are up on the CN website to watch (assuming you have a provider that has CN on their channel lineup) and I have to say, it's way better than I thought it was going to be! When the initial teasers for this show dropped, I thought it looked OK, but not great. Upon watching the first ten episodes though (I binged them because I immensely enjoyed the dynamic between the three), I can genuinely say I enjoyed an overwhelming majority of the content provided. The characters are all solid, there's humor that both adults AND children can enjoy, the premise is nice, and the animation style is visually pleasing to look at.

My favorite character by far is Adorabat. I absolutely love how they gave her the most adorable character design in the show, and yet, she is often dark and edgy, even psychotic at times. She wants excitement and adventure in her life, and wants to help protect the people around her. She idolizes Mao Mao and Badgerclops for living the life she has always wanted, yet, despite her small size, she strives to be just as heroic as her two friends.

Mao Mao is an egocentric katana-wielding hero from a legendary warrior bloodline, but despite his efforts, his family doesn't see him as one. He strives to impress his father with his honed swordsmanship, and become another legendary warrior in his bloodline, but his arrogance and self-importance often cause chaos and he makes himself out to be a fool. The show dives into why his character is the way he is, and despite him being arrogant and often self-centered, we learn that he problems with being accepted by society and living up to his family name.

Badgerclops is probably the most relatable character for me personally. He always advises Mao Mao and Adorabat to think things through before running into danger, guns blazing, but they often shrug off his ideas. He's a chill cybernetic badger that enjoys chilling with his friends and relaxing, but isn't afraid of threats and is ready to jump into battle with his friends to save Pure Heart Valley.

Overall, the only flaws I have with this show are the fact that sometimes the pacing can be iffy, and there doesn't seem to be a solid overarching plot at this point in time. The characters could be fleshed out more, but keep in mind that the show is still only in it's first season. I have high expectations for this show! If they DO decide to go with an overarching plot and more character development, I could easily see this becoming one of my top cartoons. If not, I will still continue to watch it because the voice acting is spot-on, the humor is genuinely funny a majority of the time, and the universe that the show takes place in is very interesting and I can't wait to see what the next episodes bring to the plate!

If you're on the fence about this show, and like other cartoons, namely Adventure Time, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, and We Bare Bears, I'd HIGHLY recommend giving it a shot because as it stands now, it feels like a culmination of everything that makes those three cartoons as revered as they are!

Promising, new show with great characters and a lot of potential.
shinaotsuki27 July 2019
This show might seem as the standard silly kids cartoon, with nothing more to it. Looking behind the facade, you'll find fleshed out characters, with a dedicated creator behind them, cleverly written jokes and just a lot of potential. Cartoon Network has hit gold with Parker Simmons. I hope to see more of it.

This show REALLY deserves more recognition!
perkinsseth17 November 2019
This show is in my humble opinion the best on CN right now. The writing is very clever and funny, the characters are oozing with personality and charm, the animation is incredible, and Parker Simmons, the show's creator and the voice of Mao Mao, is a truly awesome guy. If you haven't seen this show yet, I implore you to do so, and I highly recommend at least watching a good handful of episodes before calling it good, the quality gets even better the further you go

Warning: Spoilers
This show caught me off guard when i watches the characters and their personalities, it makes the situation more like a not serious kind of atmosphere and the villains are weak. This show also makes me laugh so hard till my cheeks hurt and i can't breathe too, i can say this is the best cartoon I've ever watch and i hope they'll make a 2nd season of it.

Incredible Writing - Fit For Adults and Kids
pownjesus-785184 December 2021
This show straight rocks. We watch it with our 5 year old and we all laugh and enjoy it. The humor is clever enough to keep adults entertained, but slap stick enough to entertain our 5 year old. It's clean humor, no "woke" nonsense, and it's got great action sequences as well. Definitely recommend!

VertMB23 October 2019
A breath of fresh air, this is easily the funniest cartoon I have seen in years, I'm praying we get many seasons of this show in the future. Besides it being funny the action is great too, the animation and voice acting on this show are so well done, truly a masterpiece, I love it so much!

Hopefully the next major CN title
deltasigma4821 March 2020
This show is a roller coaster in all the right ways. The first few episodes can be hard to watch, the first few episodes are serviceable but not great. These episodes are important to set up the plot and how the world works. Every episode is better than the last and each episode has it's own unique plot and subplot. It has the off the cuff high impact style humor that's become popular today but the show has extremely cleaver moments that shine like gems. The action sequences are hype, the humor is fantastic, and the semi episodic nature allows one shots and overarching plot lines meld. Amazing show, give the first few episodes a try if you feel like it.

Solid!
B-L-A-K-E-D11 February 2021
I watched this show on a whim just from me seeing someone post screenshots from it, and I got way more than I expected from it! What I got was just a very entertaining show that was just right in all categories. Great writing, animation, voice acting, backgrounds, pacing, length and genuinely funny moments. And when I say that, I actually mean that it got more than a sensible chuckle out of me but an real laugh.

All the characters were really memorable and none of them seemed cliche, which seems to be rare today in TV animation. The 11 minute episodes really worked to it's advantage because they didn't have to space everything out so much. You can have both action and quiet moments in the same space, and none of it feels dull. I really loved the show, and watched all 40 episodes of it so far. I would probably do it again, too. I hope it continues to have great success, because this is a show that truly deserves it.
