Series final season? Episode 1 my final episode.

Who could have known, however long ago the opening episode was written, that it would so closely resemble our current political situation. I have to imagine the writers felt some sort of glee at the similarities. Unfortunately, "ripped-from-the-headlines" isn't entertainment. It just blends in with the daily news that I'm oh so tired of already. Last season was excellent, I'll remember the show that way. Farewell Madam President.

Bitter Sweet

The beginning of the final season of Madam Secretary was bitter sweet. This has been one of my favourite shows and it will be so sad to see it end. Like WEST WING it presented the third arm of the American administration as reasoned and rational (a complete contrast to the current American reality). I've loved the characters, the performances, the story lines and the high ethical bar set for their world of politics (so high, one might be forgiven to classify this in the genre of fantasy). One last great story arc ahead. I give this series a 10 (hopeful) out of 10 and it has been on my Top TV Series list, since the beginning. {Political Drama}

Trivia
With this episode, the following actors officially departed the series: Keith Carradine, Geoffrey Arend, Sebastian Arcelus, Kathrine Herzer, and Sara Ramirez, while Kevin Rahm was bumped from recurring to regular. However, all but Ramirez returned as guests for the series finale.

Goofs
When the president is speaking at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, majestic granite mountains are seen behind the complex. In reality, the theater is on Long Island, New York, at least 2,000 miles from any such mountains (in the west).
